This place is 100% worth the wait! I had heard a lot of good things about this restaurant before trying it last week & it was definitely worth the hype. We went on a Friday at around 8:30 & got seated about an hour later. They gave us the menu while we were in line so we could be prepared to order right as we were seated. I started with the Yuzu cocktail & the egg drop soup which was very good. For an appetizer we had the chicken dumplings & the chicken skewers, also delicious! As a main course I had the beef short ribs & I would recommend those as well! The serving sizes were great for the price. Service was very fast too which makes up for the wait imo! Next time I will for sure try things on their menu on the wall. Great overall restuarant I will be going back!View more

The food here is absolutely fantastic. You may be greater by a 30-45 minute wait, but wow is it worth it. The Japanese curry is absolutely fantastic, & the beef ribs, amazing.
The service is really quick & friendly.
Perfect for a quick date night.

This is one of my all time favourite restaurants in Montreal. Such an authentic place, there us usually a line up in front & you cant wonder why it never disappoints. If youve tried it & haven't liked it its because you're ordering the wrong thing!!! The owner of this place is a real gem, super sweet & just an absolute ray of sunshine. My favourites on the menu are their beef carpaccio, the eggplant dip, the beef curry sauce, Chiraschi & if you go when it's lobster season do not go without trying it its by far my fave! Btwn the prices are sooooo affordable!View more

Overall exceptional service & food. Very nice atmosphere, although very tight quarters.
Anything with beef is exceptional. The Okonomiyaki is something we've tried twice now & we were underwhelmed again. The ginger egg soup is THE BEST.View more

Absolutely love this place. I have visited numerous times & will continue to visit. I especially love the shrimp burger (not fishy at all, extremely juicy & is complimented very nicely with the sauces), Beef Kalbi Plate, Tuna Salmon Salad Rice Bowl, beef Bibimbap (the beef falls off the bone), the salmon/tuna belly (literally melts in your mouth), & the grilled seabass.
The only items I didn't love are the chicken & the octopus so if you visit definitely opt for beef or fish instead. The desserts are quite basic, I usually skip it.
In terms of service they definitely prioritize table turn overs over everything else so they do tend to rush you towards the end but I understand given that it's a very small place & there's usually a line out the door. I only had one bad experience in this regard but have been back since then & was treated nicely by the same waitress so she could have just been having a bad day.
Lastly, I would recommend visiting as a smaller party as it is a small place.View more

I got to dine in at this Japanese restaurant & the food was so delicious that I went back a few hours later to enjoy my second meal. Both times I had to wait around 20-30 minutes in line but it was worth the wait. Beef bibimbap was absolutely delicious, the beef was tender, moist & flavorful. Shrimp burger was super soft, ramen was big enough to share & the homemade tofu was ultra soft & delicious. Finally to end the meal, there is selection of ice cream flavors to choose from. I had the chocolate brioche & it was not too sweet. I enjoyed all the dishes that I got to try out from here, very fresh & authentic. Despite service being extremely busy, they were helpful & friendly.View more

The dishes were full of flavours & delicious. The place was a little cramped though, I was impressed by how the servers were able to move around in tight places with the big dishes. There's always a line up in front of the restaurant, so prepare to wait for at least 30 minutes to an hour. The 48 hours pork powl was conforting, delicious & even yummier with the curry sauce on. The fresh marinaded salad was great. The fresh raw tuna & salmon sashimi on vinegar rice & a side of salad was to die for, but the beef short ribs was definitely the highlight of the evening, it tasted heavenly. Will definitely come back to try their others dishes.View more

There is a reason that there's always a lineup in front of this restaurant ! It's simply the best one in town! So flavourful & mouthwatering! We enjoy every single dishes! I especially love the beef carpaccio, the sashimis & the shrimp burgers. The wait is about 45 minutes depending on what time you arrive. They make their own soft ice cream which is extremely delicious!View more

We enjoyed this little Japanese restaurant in June 2024. The food was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere is different & a little chaotic but it adds to the experience. The menu is on yellow pieces of paper scatter throughout the walls (the regular menu wasn't even necessary). We tried the pig cheeks, the shrimp toast, the gyozas, beef, sashimi, fish & more. Each dish was better than the next. & you have to try the cheesecake ice cream. Lauren (our server) was like a Ninja.. always there to help even when you didn't expect it. & the staffs ability to muti task on such a chaotic environment was impressive. They were all very thankful & all smiles. It is a small restaurant with some bar seating where you can watch them cook. Be prepared to wait as they do not take reservations & they will seat you based on the number of people on your party & what is available at the moment...so others who have smaller or the exact number they need will go ahead of you regardless of when you got there. We waited about an hour on a friday night for 5 of us, but tables for 2 waited maybe 20 minutes. We would not hesitate to go back. The food, the staff & the overall experience was great. If you want a normal night out at a Japanese restaurant, this isn't it. But it will be worth the patience & adjustment to their methods... the food & the staff speak for themselves.View more

The best izakaya in town!!! Show up when the restaurant opens at 5PM because there is bound to be a huge lineup. (Or cheat & call for takeout to bypass the line, they'll have your food ready within 15 min) For the best seats in house, grab a stool at the bar & watch the chef & his team pop out beautiful dish after beautiful dish with practiced efficiency. The ever changing seasonal menu is found on small pieces of paper stapled to the wall. (We tried the beef tongue stew this time around & it was a huge hit) The octopus & lamb chops are both a bit on the pricier end, but every smoky tender bite is worth it. From the regular menu, popular items such as the tuna salmon bowl, the kalbi & the beef ribs are some of my favourites. & if you're extra hungry, the 48 hour pork bowl is a cheap & delicious option.View more

What to eat, what to eat, what to eat? Not only did everything on the menu sound like it belonged in my belly, but seeing the dishes whiz by only added to the I-must-eat-everything-eyes-bigger-than-stomach thing. In the end, our helpful, friendly, & efficient server aided my wide-eyed over-excitement & guided me towards my friend, the grilled octopus leg. My Kazu-veteran chum chose the grilled beef with rice & salad. B-I-N-G-O homies. In an ideal world we would have ordered entrées & lounged with drinks, but 1) I just don't know how to be that hungry at 5:30, 2) we had a movie to catch, & 3) the ever-growing line-up of people eyeing your gluttony with restless disdain does not make for a lounge-worthy situation.
