Review Summary

Kalye Restaurant draws praise for flavorful Filipino dishes, friendly service, and a lively atmosphere, with many noting the pork sisig and Shanghai rolls as standout favorites. The menu is described as offering good value and a range of tasty items, including beef pares, pork BBQ, chop suey, lumpia, and fried chicken with gravy and fries. Reviewers also highlight the attentive waitstaff and kitchen staff who seem proud of their work, and one reviewer mentions a complimentary soup served before ordering. One review cites a concerning incident where fried chicken appeared to cause food poisoning, prompting questions about consistency and safety. Nevertheless, most comments emphasize hot and creamy sisig and other dishes that are considered among the best eaten in a restaurant, with plans to return expressed by several patrons. Overall, the feedback suggests Kalye Restaurant delivers enjoyable Filipino fare with plenty of positive notes about flavor and service, tempered by occasional concerns about quality and safety.

AMAZING restaurant I went to with a friend on a Thursday night. It was freezing out & but there were still a few customers when we entered. It felt like a legit, authentic restaurant in Southeast Asia honestly, with the decor & the TVs playing food vlogs. I personally have not had Filipino food before so I was equally wary & anticipatory of the flavours to come.
A Filipino friend basically ordered for us: sizzling crispy sisig with egg & the chicken inasal with java (a type of lemon rice, I learned) that came with Shanghai rolls & a drink. Oh. My. Goodness. I don't think anything could have prepared me for this. The chicken: the crisp skin & tender meat was unbelievable. The sisig: so flavourful & hot & juicy; it was MINDBLOWING. Now I have never had it before so I don't know if they're all this incredible but I don't care THIS is the place to enjoy it!!! It is verryyy oily though, even after asking if it could be modified to be less so, so I would only order it once a month lol. Not to mention we were served a nice warm complimentary chicken soup. This plus the rice was great in complementing the meat dishes. The spring rolls were so delightful & crispy! Was not expecting a roll of meat inside it but I am not complaining in the slightest.

I am SO HAPPY with my first venture into Filipino food. I was a little worried about eating different parts of a pig that I had never tried before but that was completely unnoticeable upon every bite. Our server was kind & patient. I will be back for more, Kalye. The next time I come to Montreal, it's a MUST! 😋

Incredibly authentic food. Pata was full of collagen. Sauce with the lechon was delicious. Lumpiang was crunchy & amazing. All the sauces were tasty. The bbq pork was incredible. Perfect garlic rice. All very reasonable prices. Huge portions. The service was kind & helpful. Plus while waiting, get the wonderful experience of filipino karaoke. 10/10!!

We came here wanting to see how Filipino cuisine in Montreal compares to Toronto. After checking Reddit, we were originally planning to go to Cuisine de Manille, but ended up getting lost due to road closures & no parking. We then found ourselves at Kalye, which was another Reddit-recommended spot-especially for their sizzling plates.

Of course, we had to try the sizzling sisig with garlic rice. It was surprisingly really good, though we felt it could use a bit more spice & could have been crispier. Unfortunately, we didn't enjoy the lumpia shanghai, which is why the overall rating is a bit lower.

Still, it was a solid experience & a good introduction to Filipino food in Montreal.

ordered from them a few time, last time I went sadly I got major food poisoning & the fried chicken did not taste as well as it used to...I am wondering whether this caused the poisoning...

other than that the food is normally fairly good for good values but they may wanna make sure the quality follows

I went to eat there with my Filipino boyfriend, & the food was really good & tasty. We ordered the pork sisig, the beef pares, & the fried chicken. The fried chicken came with gravy & fries. Everything was good, but my favorite dish was definitely the sisig. It was hot & creamy, definitely the best sisig I've ever eaten in a restaurant.

The waitstaff were very outgoing & made it an exceptional experience👍. The kitchen staff must really love & take pride in what they do. Before we even ordered they served our table with a complimentary soup for all. The pork BBQ was full of flavour & melted in my mouth. The chop suey was the best I've ever eaten. The lumpia rolls were simple but delicious. Everyone that accompanied me enjoyed their dishes. I will definitely be eating at Kalye again.

Came here with my girlfriend for date night & to try some Filipino goodies. The girl at the counter was really helpful & gave us so many suggestions. I wish I could have ordered it all.
We had the pork sisig & the Shanghai rolls, both of which were AMAZING, absolutely delicious. We will absolutely be returning!
