Jolee brings you very closer to the authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. At least the style popular among Sri Lankan Tamils. You have a plenty of choices from the spiciest Chicken curry to non spicy Egg Dosa. The rice & curry which is the most common meal in Sri Lanka is sold as'' Thaali''. That you can have either vegetarian or with fish, meat, prawns etc. Many Sri Lankan specialities such as koththu Roti is available. You can dine in or simply take away. The restaurant is quite clean but the washrooms needed a little upgrade. Some staff are extremely friendly & some do their job well. Food is served hot & relatively fast. The price you pay for a full meal is quite cheap compared to many restaurants in Montreal. I have seen many families who come for lunches & the expats flock to the place with nostalgia. Check the place out if you have a spicy tongue.
Curry take out is bad. They put a lot of that oily spicy sauce to give the illusion of rich curry but the actual meat portion is only worth 3$. I mean only a few chicken or mutton bits. Will never buy again. Very disappointing.
If you like flavor, spice, & good portion sizes for the price, this is the place for you!
Came here with my family of 5 near closing, & still got the most hospitable, personalized service. Food was fresh, warm, & so tasty. They took their time with our orders, snd the girl at the front was also super friendly. Food was a 10/10 from all of us. Establishment was very clean.
Plus, their entrees, mains, desserts, & the mango lassis are all delicious. We had mutton rolls, vegetarian thali, shrimp curry, beef kothu, a few lassis, & even ordered seconds of our mains for takeouts.
Our total bill was much lower than we expected, so I'd 100% recommend coming here if you are on a budget or want some leftovers.
I'm shocked how low the reviews are - restaurant jolee is the best Sri Lankan food I've ever had. We make a point to stop by & load up our freezer every time we come to Montreal from the United States. We particularly love the beef roll, mutton curry & dals. Their food is simply delicious.
Check your food before they use Bad Curry Smell bad no refund some time the fish bun is no good.
Visited Jolee after a long time. They serve Vegetarian South Indian meal on Friday afternoon. The meal was delicious & big enough for a person. The brinjal (egg plant) curry was awesome. The service gentle man was so nice.
Taste was good. Mutton curry was very chewy. Vegetables not hot enough. Paratha was the worst I have ever eaten
Tried kingfish curry, mutton curry, idiyappam, porotta or veeshappam, chilli chicken medhu vada & masala wada. Didn't like chilli chicken & porotta. Rest of the items were good. Jilebis in the store had a strong urad dal taste so didn't like it. Mutton curry was the highlight & it's a good combination with idiyappam.
