Jolee brings you very closer to the authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. At least the style popular among Sri Lankan Tamils. You have a plenty of choices from the spiciest Chicken curry to non spicy Egg Dosa. The rice & curry which is the most common meal in Sri Lanka is sold as'' Thaali''. That you can have either vegetarian or with fish, meat, prawns etc. Many Sri Lankan specialities such as koththu Roti is available. You can dine in or simply take away. The restaurant is quite clean but the washrooms needed a little upgrade. Some staff are extremely friendly & some do their job well. Food is served hot & relatively fast. The price you pay for a full meal is quite cheap compared to many restaurants in Montreal. I have seen many families who come for lunches & the expats flock to the place with nostalgia. Check the place out if you have a spicy tongue.
Curry take out is bad. They put a lot of that oily spicy sauce to give the illusion of rich curry but the actual meat portion is only worth 3$. I mean only a few chicken or mutton bits. Will never buy again. Very disappointing.
Sharing feedback on my recent visit to Restaurant Lolee. While the menu looked promising, the food lacked freshness & the flavors were underwhelming. Service was slow & inattentive, & the prices felt high for the quality delivered. I tried chicken 65, it was so bad, never had such bad taste, also paneer masala was testing like a bad verson of dal. I guess today was last time.
Absolutely ridiculous & disappointing. My family & I came all the way from Toronto & decided to come to this restaurant. All of us were hungry to have dinner that we mistakenly ordered 2 kotthu rotis, 2 appitizers (chilli chicken & chicken 65), & chicken noodles along with chicken puttu. As soon as we all had one bite from the appetizers, we knew we made a huge mistake. Right then & there we lost our appetite. For the chilli chicken, all the did was put hot sauce all over, & the chicken 65 was entirely bone. The kothu rotis, noddles, & puttu did not have any taste whatsoever. I do NOT recommend this place to anyone.
I am Sri Lankan, so I know the true cuisine & authenticity of Sri Lankan food. This restaurant started off pretty good,I used to be a regular here. However, over time, the quality has gone downhill. The side dishes at the entrance are often cold & lacking flavor. Dining in was an alright experience overall, but not what it used to be.
If you come here, I would recommend sticking to the vegetarian options. The famous chicken & mutton kottu often have a burnt taste, almost as if they are constantly reheated on the grill, & they lack the rich flavor you would expect. I would also suggest avoiding the Indian dishes like butter chicken, biryani, or similar items, as they are disappointing as well.
Sri Lankan food is known for its unique spices & the authenticity in every bite, which is why this experience was quite disappointing for me
Most food sucks, specially their curries & chilli chicken. They charge full amount for food which are pre-made (on display), which means you cannot customize. Restaurant owner (an elderly gentleman) has rude behavior. Food is generally overpriced for what it is.
Meat rolls & kothu மதிய உணவு அருமையாக இருந்தது இருந்த போதும் அதில் சேர்க்கப்பட்ட மட்டன் சிக்கன் போதுமானதாக இல்லை Lunch was good but the added mutton chicken was not good enough
This is an amazing local Tamil Restaurant. Good pricing & very tasty. They have everything from snacks to meals. My favorite snacks are their chicken, beef, & mutton spring rolls. Definitely a must try!
Tried this restaurant for the first time & was honestly happy of what I got. I ordered 2 biryanis, one lamb & one chicken. The lamb one was good, loved it. But, the chicken one with tandoori chicken was alright because the tandoori was a bit dry & wasn't enjoyable to bite into. But overall, great food, exceptional service. A worker helped me choose what to order & was friendly.
