When I visit cities & walk around like a tourist, I love stopping into pubs for a beer to sit, reset, & reorient myself. Montréal didn't really deliver on that-not many pub style places were opened, or everything was closed or hidden behind Québec's national emblem: the construction cone 😄
So thank god for Pub John Michael's 🍻
Exactly what I needed. Cold pint, no hassle, & a warm, welcoming vibe right when I needed it most.
The Philly cheesesteak was a bit bready, but still delicious, & the fries were crispy & satisfying.
Service was friendly & efficient-quick, attentive, & no fuss.
Inside has that great pub feel with plenty of seating & TVs, but still relaxed enough to just sit back & recharge.
Price-wise, about $58 all-in (Philly, beer, & tip) felt steep-but hey, inflation hits us all these days.
Clutch stop when everything else seemed closed. Would absolutely come back.
The poutine was good, but it was also $23. The drinks are expensive too, & my friend said his rum & coke wasn't great. My Mojito was $17💀
Also, the funniest bit was that after a song played, I heard'Want a break from the ads?' blast through the speakers. Damn, for how expensive the food is you wonder where the money goes🥀(for the uninitiated, that's what Spotify plays in between songs when you have the free tier, the paid tier is like $10)
Wouldn't recommend because of the price (good food & service but was not worth what I paid), & avoid buying drinks there at all costs.

Traveled from US for a long weekend in Montreal. We were walking to find a sports bar with NFL games on a Sunday. Poked my head in & asked if they had NFL. They were very friendly & put on the game we were looking for. Food was very sold. Draft beer was also very good as was service. Background music was pop/dance which was kind of fun to watch games. Nice afternoon. Go Birds!
My daughter is very picky & she loved the burger here. Husband ordered the fire burger & he said it wasn't very spicy; but he eats ghost peppers for breakfast. Great experience, friendly service!
Super awesome location & atmosphere. Not that many tables but gives off the perfect pub/ cozy dinner vibe with friends. We got our dinner fairly quickly, which was awesome. While my veggie burger & sweet potatoe fries were delicious (seriously some of the best fries I've ever had), my friend wasn't too thrilled about her chicken tenders. Her drink was to her liking though. My mother's club sandwich was also really good, & they're pretty chill with vegetarian option. The place is clean, which is always a good sign. Nichola & Mathaias were super! In short, awesome place to go for a nice dinner.

Pub John Michaels is a gem! I recently visited & had an amazing experience. The food was top-notch; everything was fresh & delicious. I particularly enjoyed the burger, which was juicy & packed with flavor. The service was also excellent staff were friendly, attentive, & made sure we had everything we needed.
Stopped in here for a few drinks, after a full day walking around Old town, atmosphere was great, staff were friendly, I would have stayed longer but we had reservations
We stopped by their patio for a quick drink & bite on a hot afternoon. Excellent service, & I was really pleased with the quality of the food & the portion sizes! The club sandwich was delicious, as the fresh french fries, & everyone at our table enjoyed their food as well! A pleasant surprise for a pub.

Food is ok but we feel the oil for the fries & poutine fries... portions are good for the prices... the waitress was kind & nice, but I don't understand why they don't propose an extra chair & let the place empty while there should be a chair & see that we have bags & don't know where to put it... terrace for this season is a good option

Sit by the railing & watch the world stroll by with a pint. Service is excellent but the food is nothing to shout about. I had the mushroom burger with sweet potato fries. The fries were nice & crispy with just the right amount of salt. The burger, on the other hand, was on the mediocre side. It was smaller than I expected , beef patty was a little over done, not sufficient mushrooms, & had large iceberg lattice leaves.

Food was fine, nothing special. Fries were good, & fish & chips was ok, but I've had better. Service was very slow, with the waiter taking a long time to wait on us & never refilled my water glass.
I love pubs. I've been to many pubs around the world, & I can say, without a doubt, this place baffled me like no other. Waited 25 minutes on a burger & fries. It wasn't busy & it was a Monday night. The burger arrived on a soggy bun & a thick misshappen DRY patty. Not very good. I also couldn't understand why a pub in this prime location uses takeaway condiments for everything. Very strange & wasteful. I suppose this review won't matter, they get a lot of foot traffic, so they'll continue to be popular with most tourists. There are better pubs in Montreal.
We were welcomed warmly & the atmosphere was perfect. We received our cocktails & I was thinking to give 5 stars. Unfortunately our burgers were at burger king level not a pub. The fries were the worse I had ever tasted . I think I won't try here again.
