Pros: Service friendly, great location
Cons: Brurgers were really bad & the soft drinks were a rip-off: Literally 10% drink 90%'jucky' ice.
Either just order a beer or rather look for another place.

Being a local resident of Montreal, I try to avoid tourist traps in old Montreal. I knew walking in that I was going to pay way more then usuall. I ordered an overpriced I.P.A draft beer & a simple smoked meat sandwich, with salad instead of fries. The host was a young man who was very polite & friendly & gave me an available table at the far left side of the terrace. Choseing to face the North side I had a hanging plant, constantly slapping me in the back of my head. I tried wrapping it around the support piller with no long term results. The waiter was a polite young man who served me with the best intentions. Unfortunately the food could have been better for the prices that they charge. That part I didn't mind so much because you can't expect the same smoked meat quality as on the Main in Montreal. What really got under my skin was that nobody checked in on me after I got my meal. I had to wave down an other waiter, just to get some peper. After I finished my meal, & finished my beer, & I wanted to pay for my bill so I could leave. The young polite waiter who served me, was not properly trained. He was taking orders from new clients & walking away without looking around to see if his current clients needed anything. He kept walking back into the restaurant, empty handed with piles of empty dishes all around. He never looked around before leaving his area to see if anybody needed anything. I tried many times to get his attention, so that I could pay & go on my way.Unbelievably people are getting turned away because the place was full. I had to get up & walk to the front of the entrance & ask for my bill. The host said to follow him to the cash, I said no, I want to pay at my table because I want to leave. All in all I wasted twenty five minutes waiting for my bill, while they turned people away for being too busy. I let the polite young man know that I wasn't happy with the poor service. He apologized & was very humble in taking responsibility for the lack of good service. I calmly explained to him that I was a waiter for many years & I know good service when I see it. I personally don't blame him, I blame the owner & management for not properly training him for the job. His lack of initiative, could not be successful in a high paced environment like this. He deserved proper training because he is a find youge man with good manners. Manager, especially owner, do better in training your staff, its your responsibility!

I took my parents on an Old Montreal adventure & it was HOT, so we stopped here for a refreshment outside.

The hostess was VERY nice & explained the menu so well I thought she was our waitress. Kudos. We ordered a couple beers & relaxed.

Nothing to complain about.

Very over priced. Chicken tenders & chips being $27…. 5 small tenders full of oil & no flavour. Chips barely salted. Bottles of beer for $12….

Apart from being seating & served / cleared. No one to check on how everything was going etc.

My wife & I stopped off on a very hot afternoon just for a beer. It's such a lovely place to sit outside & enjoy people watching. We stayed for an hour or some after a light lunch. Our server was lovely chatting away with us for a good few minutes.

We were in Montreal for the Formula One race, & John Michael's was exceptional! The atmosphere was great, the service was spectacular, the beers were great & it was just a great feeling. We have to highlight & recommend this place because of the service, particularly Abby, the hostess, who took exceptional care of us. While we were there, we lost something in the restaurant that was very near & dear to us. Abby took down our number & kept in contact with us & was able to locate our missing item 10 days later. It meant the world to us! This is the quality of people that you are associating with in this pub. They care & they bring you into their city. Thank you so much Abby for making our experience at John Michael's a memorable one for the rest of our lives. We love Montreal. We loved John Micheal's. We are indebted to Abby!

Meh... typical tourist place, overpriced. Beer was sour & old. Service was average at best. Food was not great. Not to clean or comfortable either. There are so many better places nearby.
