When I visit cities & walk around like a tourist, I love stopping into pubs for a beer to sit, reset, & reorient myself. Montréal didn't really deliver on that-not many pub style places were opened, or everything was closed or hidden behind Québec's national emblem: the construction cone 😄
So thank god for Pub John Michael's 🍻
Exactly what I needed. Cold pint, no hassle, & a warm, welcoming vibe right when I needed it most.
The Philly cheesesteak was a bit bready, but still delicious, & the fries were crispy & satisfying.
Service was friendly & efficient-quick, attentive, & no fuss.
Inside has that great pub feel with plenty of seating & TVs, but still relaxed enough to just sit back & recharge.
Price-wise, about $58 all-in (Philly, beer, & tip) felt steep-but hey, inflation hits us all these days.
Clutch stop when everything else seemed closed. Would absolutely come back.
John Michael's Pub was amazing! We're here on a winter pilgrimage with our youth group & had some free time to grab lunch & explore the area. We stumbled upon this local gem & couldn't have been happier.
Our server, Guillermo (Guillaume in French - forgive me if I misspelled it!), was absolutely wonderful. His service was impeccable-kind, attentive, & welcoming.
The food was delicious 😋 We ordered the fish & chips, a burger, & a chicken sandwich-everything was excellent. I also enjoyed a local IPA, & my husband had an alcohol-free beer.
Thank you for such a great experience. We all truly enjoyed it & definitely recommend stopping by!

Traveled from US for a long weekend in Montreal. We were walking to find a sports bar with NFL games on a Sunday. Poked my head in & asked if they had NFL. They were very friendly & put on the game we were looking for. Food was very sold. Draft beer was also very good as was service. Background music was pop/dance which was kind of fun to watch games. Nice afternoon. Go Birds!
A nice pub in the center. Live music on the square next to the place. They have a happy hour for beer from 3-5pm. We were asked for a happy hour beer, the bartender offered a different one; however, that was not charged the happy hour price.
Fantastic place to relax & have a beer in beautiful Montréal, over looking the St Lawrence.
Stopped by for a quick beer, inside is really nice & cozy & during summer it has a patio outside, classic pub I'd say, location is great & prices are fair, didn't try the food but it looked good even though some items were a bit on the expensive side, would try it out if I'm again in the area, beers were great!
Has a great patio. Good view if you like to people watch. We had a musical group set up right in front of us, which added a nice ambiance. Decent choice of wine & beer that will cover almost anyone's taste.

They wont serve you if you dont get food, so, for a pub, it was quite unusual to not be able to just get a beer. Hostess was very polite & kind though. This was F1 weekend so it was even more unexpected.
Good vibes in this place. We were looking for a place to watch the NBA finals & have a beer. This place worked great. The beer was a bit expensive ($12 for a draught), but it's in the old city/tourist area, so that's what we get.
Great place to hang out on a hot day to lounge in the shade, to get some good food & a cold beer while watching the people go by.
Delicious pints - genuinely the beer was fresh & tasty. Server with the beard was very friendly & happy.
We stopped in for a quick drink, as it's right near our apartment. First thing that struck us, was that it smells bad inside & looks dirty. I would never eat there, but the beer was good.
About 95% of people sat outside & they sat almost everyone immediately that they could. The waitresses & front end staff worked hard to get everyone everything that they needed quickly. I was impressed. The inside is definitely pub style. The bathrooms were clean. The bartender spoke very good English. It looked like most people enjoyed a Molson Canadian draft beer or a cocktail. I had the fish tacos but it was more like traditional fish & chips without the chips in a street taco tortilla. I would recommend something else. The presentation was nice but not the right taste.
Great place to people watch if you can get a spot on the terrace.
Nice & relaxed atmosphere, really good staff that were quick to serve & friendly as well.
There was a street performer playing right across the terrace. I’m not sure he added to the atmosphere!
We had a few beers & the poutine which were ok.
Rob recommends: an excellent early evening drink on the terrace, the street performer might not be for you though

Great place to go eat in the old port. Poutine is to die for & the selection of beer is great for any beer lovers. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a great night in the old port. Oh & the view from the Terasse is awesome
