Pretty typical pub food great fries. We got the basic poutine it was fine but nothing too exciting. The service was excellent & the patio was a great place to sit.
Great option off place de jacques-cartier where you can still watch the buskers & other action going on. Bit slow & food was a bit slow, but all in all a great choice for a pub.

There is definitely a cool sports bar kind of vibe & an enjoyable atmosphere. The food coming out looked decent but my fish & chips were really bad. Mashed cod in a rubbery corn dog batter (seen in photo). Like…why? My wife had the classic poutine & said it was ok. Our server was friendly but we only saw her once. I don't think it was bad enough for 2 stars but barely good enough for 3. They should just take the fish off the menu. The burgers looked good & so did the nachos. Too many other choices to return but if you want classic pub food, it's decent I guess.
My wife & I really enjoyed our experience at this pub. The food is great & the service is even better. Fantastic location right off of the main walkway in Old Montreal.
We were in Montreal for the Formula One race, & John Michael's was exceptional! The atmosphere was great, the service was spectacular, the beers were great & it was just a great feeling. We have to highlight & recommend this place because of the service, particularly Abby, the hostess, who took exceptional care of us. While we were there, we lost something in the restaurant that was very near & dear to us. Abby took down our number & kept in contact with us & was able to locate our missing item 10 days later. It meant the world to us! This is the quality of people that you are associating with in this pub. They care & they bring you into their city. Thank you so much Abby for making our experience at John Michael's a memorable one for the rest of our lives. We love Montreal. We loved John Micheal's. We are indebted to Abby!
When I visit cities & walk around like a tourist, I love stopping into pubs for a beer to sit, reset, & reorient myself. Montréal didn't really deliver on that-not many pub style places were opened, or everything was closed or hidden behind Québec's national emblem: the construction cone 😄
So thank god for Pub John Michael's 🍻
Exactly what I needed. Cold pint, no hassle, & a warm, welcoming vibe right when I needed it most.
The Philly cheesesteak was a bit bready, but still delicious, & the fries were crispy & satisfying.
Service was friendly & efficient-quick, attentive, & no fuss.
Inside has that great pub feel with plenty of seating & TVs, but still relaxed enough to just sit back & recharge.
Price-wise, about $58 all-in (Philly, beer, & tip) felt steep-but hey, inflation hits us all these days.
Clutch stop when everything else seemed closed. Would absolutely come back.
Great pub after the Elderbrook fest. Can't rave enough about the service from Yanis! He was working by himself & handling a rush of concert goers, with welcoming attitude & prompt service! Did I mentioned he was the only person working making drinks, waiting tables, cleaning, etc? Yanis is the best of the best. He even had time to perform small talks with us! When it was dying down, he was busy cleaning tables, counter top, bar area, etc. I would fly back just for his service!
