Jarry Smoked Meat is described in these reviews as a Montreal staple with a welcoming, family-friendly, old-fashioned deli vibe, where the smoked meat is praised for its flavor and tenderness, portions are generous, and the menu offers a range of hearty options including poutine, sandwiches and a standout cheesecake. Service is often noted as fast, friendly and bilingual, contributing to a comfortable, if sometimes busy, dining atmosphere. The place is celebrated for nostalgia, reliability and value, attracting repeat visits and comparisons with other delis, and it is frequently called one of the best spots for smoked meat in the city. On the flip side, some comments point to meat that is too thickly sliced or fatty, fries that are occasionally frozen or dry, poutines with cheese curds that aren’t to everyone’s taste, and occasional slower service during peak times or perceived fluctuations in consistency. Overall, the sentiment is that Jarry Smoked Meat remains a beloved, go-to destination for smoked meat and comforting fare, with a broad menu and a reputation built over many years.
Excellent meal. I had the classic smoke meat sandwich with fries. Great place to bring tourists because it is 100 percent Montreal. Excellent service. I will be back.
I've heard about this place a couple of time & I was disappointed. The poutine wasn't a real poutine, wrong cheese ! Instead of cheese curds they used Mozzarella ! & the smoked meat was normal. Nothing special about it. & The portion is quite small .
Five of us went there for dinner last night. Their smoked meat was absolutely spectacular. Highly recommend it. The hamburger was terrific as well. The pizza was good, but not quite as good as I had hoped. The rest (we also got poutine, Caesar salad, & butterfly shrimp) were just average. Then we tried 3 of their desserts: strawberry cheesecake (terrific), caramel carrot cheesecake (good), & sugar pie (stale & not good at all). Good service overall, they were very accommodating for our large group.

Was pleasantly surprised. We all had the smoked meat with fries & coleslaw, & if course a slice of pickle. We had the medium fat. It was very tasty. My 90 year old Italian mom ate everything on her plate except the pickle. & that says it all. Also, the waitress was very pleasant & spoke both our official languages.
