What a wonderful cozy intimate & gorgeous brunch cafe in Verdun! Our friends group decided to meet there & we were super impressed with the cozy decor of the cafe ❤?❤? I had the Toast Avocat while my friends had Chic Croissant & Champi along with coffee & let me tell you - from the way the food was presented to the taste everything was just perfect 😇😇 So so delicious & our full compliments to the chef 🙏🙏 The staff is also very gracious, welcoming, & always ready to answer any questions ! We would like to give a shout out to Janique as she was very attentive & always on her feet 🙏🙏 At some point we were also given fruit punch/ fruit shots made of ginger, beet, orange & it was very very good 😇😇 However, anyone who comes here must must try their Carrot Cake! We got ours to go as we were running out of time but we definitely opened the box & once I actually ate it at home, each bite was a gourmet's delight ❤?❤? A heavenly bliss !! Looking forward to trying the other items on the menu 🎉🎉Cannot recommend this 11/10 brunch cafe enough to anyone who wants to relax with family & friends & get the best service & food at the venue 😇😇
L'un des meilleurs brunchs de Montréal. Service toujours impeccable. Carte variée & produits de qualité. Le grilled-cheese est excellent (petite astuce : ce n'est pas sur la carte, mais vous pouvez y ajouter de la joue de boeuf!). Quant au carrot cake à la mascarpone, il est tout simplement divin.
Il faut par contre être patients si vous y allez le week-end car il y a souvent de la file. Mais on vous offrira toujours un parapluie s'il pleut, un thé chaud s'il fait froid, ou un thé glacé s'il fait chaud.
Peut-être le meilleur brunch de Montréal, avec un carrot cake incroyable & un service à la hauteur. Seul bémol, l'attente parfois longue le week-end, mais c'est le prix du succès !
I had mushroom toast dish with scutch egg which was not valued 32 CaD at all! I did not like the taste of potato & mushrooms.

My sister & I enjoyed the brunch, it was a great place to celebrate my sister's birthday. The food was excellent. The only thing that I was disappointed, why I gave 3 for service is due to the fact that they did not serve a cake with candle for my sister to blow. I indicated on my reservation that it was a special occasion. Worst part is we saw that they served candles to blow at other tables. This was a big miss!
I'd never heard of Café Janine before but I could see myself becoming a regular. The food was outstanding, the service is impeccable & the ambience was a pleasant kind of elevated conviviality; a relaxed refinement that tied everything together.
The lineup is no joke for a weekend brunch, so come prepared to wait outside for 30 minutes or more. Out party really appreciated the complementary servings of tea & small nibbles served by staff along the wait line. It's a small, classy bit of gratitude that made the wait much more tolerable.
Once we were inside, we immediately relaxed & were treated very well by the friendly, professional staff. Service was quick & helpful, with good suggestions when we requested tnem.
Every morsel was delicious, & we especially liked the juice tastings: fresh & delicious samples of various juices arranged in a way that makes it easy to share. The chicken sandwich was excellent with a generous serving & good seasonings. The Scotch eggs were perfect, with a great balance of flavours & textures. We tried the carrot cake as a treat, & it was wonderfully moist & light, with great bounce.
I expected a higher bill at the end, & I was pleasantly surprised. Overall, it's good value for an excellent dining experience. A must-try!

I'm obsessed with their carrot cake!!! lit's always so fresh, & just sweet enough. & their matcha latte!!! Honestly, one of the best I've had. The combo of the two is pure comfort. If you haven't been, you're seriously missing out-it's one of my favorite spots in the city!
Delicious brunch food & large portions. The apple french toast was delicious & not too sweet at all, & quite a large portion of two thick slices of toast & a cooked apple; good to share between two people. The latkes were very good & savoury. I would recommend the latkes & the carrot cake! The latte with soy milk was also delicious. The line is very long so be prepared to wait! Overall a really beautiful place with friendly staff & yummy food :)
This place was just so so good. The food, the ambiance, service, everything was on point. We did have to wait for 20 mins to get seated, but it was totally worth it. Would definitely go again & try more. The decor of this restaurant was something a mix of vintage, Victorian with a touch of royalty & modernism. Weekend Brunch is highly recommended. & do try their carrot cake.

This was an experience, decor on point, the food was exquisite 👌🏾, the sever was so good at his job it's crazy. The ambiance the atmosphere. If you go try their carrotte cake. I don't like carotte cake, but this one I was ready to go back to order another one. Yes, yes, for this place, I will be back for sure. Amazing 👏🏾
I must say so far it's the best brunch i've ever had .. food is delicious not too salty yet it's tasty they don't put too much seasonings that's the beauty of it, we know it's healthy! Carrot cake it's perfect not too sweet.. amazing servers.. highly recommended this place! 👌
Une belle adresse à Verdun ! Hiver comme été, la queue ne désemplit pas! & pour cause, nous y avons passé un beau moment. Les shots du jus maison du jour font la différence, on se sent tout de suite accueilli & ça donne le ton pour la suite ! Le service est rapide & les équipes observatrices & à l'écoute. Les assiettes sont bien garnies, les produits sont de qualité & le goût est là. On m'a vendu le carrot cake comme un MUST-HAVE mais n'ayant plus de place (la part est TRES généreuse) je n'ai pas pu céder à la tentation. Une excuse pour revenir ? Certainement. ;) Une adresse validée pour la frenchie ! Privilégiez l'heure d'ouverture ou le début d'après-midi, si vous ne voulez pas passer trop de temps dans la queue. (Eh oui, le prix du succès) Merci pour ce moment ! & à bientôt pour la part de Carrot cake ! :)
Based on all the hype over this spot, I expected better food. I had the croque madame which I found to be under seasoned. I also tried the latkes that my friend ordered. They were good, but not worth the wait in line. Neither of us finished our plates. The carrot cake was delicious though, it's possible we ordered the wrong things - maybe their other dishes are better made than what we tried.

Our family had a short trip to Montreal & decided one morning, to have brunch here. Our expectations were most definitely met. We got the Croque Madame, the carrot cake, L'Oeuf & Boeuf, & the Gaufres & Poulet Frit. The Croque Madame had the perfect amount of saltiness as well as an excellent presentation. The carrot cake was moist &, for not a very high price, we received an excellent quantity. The Gaufres & Poulet Frit had a delicious waffle as well as a well fried chicken. & L'Oeuf & Boeuf was also delicious! The staff was very kind & considered our nutritional restrictions & was glad to speak English since we didn't speak French. Also, a lot of reviews were saying the wait time was very long & they usually give an incorrect time. This wasn't the case. The time they gave us was very precise as well as a pretty short wait time. Overall, this place was awesome. We would definitely come back to try the other dishes & I would 10/10 recommend!
One of the best brunch I have ever had, we ordered a bunch of dishes, they were all really good. The best of all is their carrot cake, it is a must try dessert from them. It is moist, not too sweet & just right! One of the best carrot cake I have ever had! If you are from NYC area or Queens area, I am sure you probably had Martha's carrot cakes there, this carrot cake would blow Martha's carrot cake away hands down. Besides that, all of the dishes we have ordered were unique, tasty, & flavorful! Service was impeccable, attentive & informative. If I went in describing all of the dishes, I would probably write a novel about it. LOL. Enough said, enjoy the pictures. We will be back one of these days!
The scotch egg was amazing. I would have taken an ostrich egg size one if it was available. The panko is light & crispy, just enough chorizo without overpowering the perfectly cooked egg. But the sausage was my favorite. So much meat flavor. 7$/sausage but I would have a bucket full, if I could. The latkas...by themselves my poor taste buds could not reconcile the overpowering beets (the latkas were also a bit too oily as well) BUT when you take a mouthfull of latkas, smoked salmon (there is a lot in the plate! No shrinkflation here), fresh dill & parsley, pickled onions & labné...oh WOW oh WOW! This plate comes alive. I would gladly re-order that dish again (to share so that I can enjoy a scotch egg & a couple of sausages). The carrot cake was worth it! Great pineapple & carrot butter. The mascarpone makes the whole thing work. Delish! 5 star service! A waitress who has good suggestions & is honest enough to help me save $$$ by letting me know 1 portion of carrot cake is big enough for 2 ppl totally deserves 5 stars for service.
Wow!! Perfect place for a romantic brunch 😍 we ordered Oeuf & Beuf (beef, running eggs, potatoes) & a slice of carrot cake. Let me say, it was a piece of art!!! The meet was unbelievably tender, eggs perfectly cooked, my matcha latte had flower petals inside & each time I took a sip, I smelled the flowers, so good! Do yourself a favor & get that carrot cake, my god!! It has a taste of honey & cinnamon, one of the best cakes in my life. The service was great too, all staff members were super friendly, got our order fast, even offered us a complimentary shot of the cocktail of the day. The only downside is that you need to wait for a table as it's a popular spot, but it's worth it. Well done!
