Jacopo stands out in Old Montreal with a warm, stylish vibe and a menu that delivers Italian classics with bold, fresh flavors. Reviews highlight friendly, attentive service and knowledgeable wine suggestions, and the atmosphere ranges from cozy intimate dining upstairs to lively terrace evenings. The food is repeatedly praised for quality and flavor, from crisp bruschetta, burrata and calamari to seafood pastas, gnocchi and the signature cheese wheel pasta prepared at tableside, along with desserts like tiramisu and cannolis. The wine list and cocktails pair well with many dishes, helping meals feel special for a date, a celebration, or a group dinner. While some guests note that portions can be small or prices a bit high and a few service hiccups or noisy moments, the consensus is that Jacopo offers a memorable experience with generous hospitality and superb Italian cooking that keeps guests coming back.
Food service was slow & some of our meals were luke warm. This was a kitchen issue. The server did the best she could. Want to like this place but they need to do better.
First off, I'd like to say that I really like Jacopo & normally really enjoy their brunch & dinner & it kinda pains me to write this review.
Last Saturday, a friend & I decided to ge there for brunch. The place really wasnt busy (3-4 tables on the terrasse & about the same inside) & they did not seem short on staff either.
We sat down on the terrasse & were able to place our order right away. So far so good. The orders were staight-forward 2 dishes from the menu; no special requests whatsoever.. anyways, we sat there waiting OVER 40 MIN!!.. no food & no one even came by to say there was a delay.. I can understand if it'd be busy.. but it was far from it. We just ended up leaving. Quite a dissapointing experience :
Dined here for the first time. The restaurant offered excellent service, delicious food & all was reasonably priced. The staff were all so friendly. Our server, Nick, was very knowledgeable, attentive & very kind. He made some excellent recommendations that did not disappoint. From appetizers to dessert, wow!! I rarely leave reviews but this place left such an impression. I will definitely be going back. So many other dishes I need to try!
We were early for reservation. Hostess was very accommodating. We moved inside for our meal. This did not disappoint. We had the fettuccine in the cheese wheel. What a fun experience. THE FLAVOR!!!!!. Our waiter knew we weren't in a rush. He was excellent. I can't wait to go back.
Overall very cool place! Nice Italian food & a great location near the river & close to the ferris wheel. Highly recommend the cheese board. Giving 4 stars cause the service was a bit slow. For example they brought our wine to us after they brought the food, we had to ask for water multiple times, etc.
Food was absolutely amazing. Our server Laura was fantastic, so accommodating & her recommendations for food & drinks did not disappoint. If I could give this restaurant 10 stars, I would.
We had a fantastic meal at Jacopo, a charming Italian restaurant in the heart of Old Montreal. From start to finish, everything was delicious & beautifully prepared.
We started with the fried calamari, & it was honestly some of the best we've ever had - perfectly crispy, tender, & full of flavor. For drinks, we enjoyed a refreshing glass of sangria & a Rose', both of which paired really well with the meal & added to the relaxed, lively ambiance.
For our mains, we had the pappardelle with lamb, spaghetti with pork - each one was cooked al dente & full of rich, bold flavors. The lamb pappardelle was especially memorable - tender meat, silky sauce, & pasta that tasted homemade. Everything tasted fresh & authentic, like a little trip to Italy. I wanna come back & try the pesto Pasta & other dishes!
I would highly recommend Jacopo's Boozy Brunch! Our server Lamica was aboslutely wonderful & very attentive, our glasses were never empty! The food was delicious & the mimosa's were such a good value. Merci Lamica!
