Jack Le Coq is widely praised for its fried chicken, with many reviewers noting juicy, crispy chicken and a standout poutine, along with generous portions of tenders and fries and a range of sauces that keep flavors lively. The atmosphere is described as warm and retro, and service is generally quick, friendly, and the space is kept clean, making it a reliable choice for chicken lovers in Verdun. While the chicken quality is celebrated, some reviews point to price increases and occasional inconsistency in texture or flavor, changes after ownership shifts, and issues with orders such as missing items, delivery glitches, or fries going cold. Some diners prefer spicy styles like Nashville and report that the regular version can be bland without added heat, though others praise the bold sauces and the variety of menu options including burgers and mac and cheese. Overall, Jack Le Coq is viewed as a standout option for fried chicken in the area, though a few guests feel value has diminished on recent visits.
really like this place but wish there weren't sulfites in the spicy sauce used on the burgers. I was getting allergic reactions & had no idea why for awhile, so watch out if you're an asthmatic. other wish is that they had the marco spruce beer in bottle & not just in a can, for some reason the canned version has a really baking soda type taste aside from that, delicious, cute retro interior. sad the dunkin closed, seniors loved that place. but not a bad replacement will second some of the other reviews that lately the sides are hit or miss. the macaroni & fries genuinely suck. stick to the sandwiches in general edit 1 year later: the hot sauce still gives me allergic sulfite reactions so I avoid it I've had better experiences since with the sides, but the meat in the sandwiches is really inconsistent in terms of size now I almost only order when they have bogo days
This place has the best fried chicken in the city, & staff is always very warm to customers despite the high quantity of people coming in. This is the place if you're hungry for a great piece of fried chicken

Prices are really good! The chicken tastes awesome! The fries are ok. It would be more interesting to have fries that match with the chicken. But! The sauce! The sauce is something! The restaurant is a must to try!
Sweetest most attentive cashier tonight was super helpful with what to choose... Got the chicken tenders & jack sauce with fries... Music was good restaurant was clean employees were amazing 10/10 recommend
Jack le Coq insists upon the passerby with a shocking force of personality that belies the friendly faces inside, underwritten by onion rings & chicken that rival or exceed the mainstream competition, in an atavistic decor that transcends the era.
Very good ambiance!! I loved the staff. The main person at the entrance was so welcoming & kind to us. Also the food is amazing ! Let me tell you, you won't taste as good fried chicken no where else ❤️
Loved the Fried Chickens! I was looking for a good fried chicken restaurant that is Halal, & to my surprise it was just 5 minutes away from my home. So happy to find this. Totally worth it. The chicken was crispy on the outside with a lot of flavors, & inside it was juicy & also full of flavor. Would definitely go again. One thing that can be improved is the coleslaw salad. It wasn't the best as it had very little seasoning. But for chicken I give it a 5 star.
THE BEST fried chicken in Montreal! I had their Jack burger & it was so crispy & full of flavour, their fries are delicious & crispy as well! Not to mention how cool the place looks!
One of the friendliest, grooviest places to eat delicious fried chicken. What the place lacks in finesse it more than makes it up with staff (Robin & Evelyn FTW!) that really care about the place & their clients. It is one of my favourite Wellington haunts to spend a late eating enjoying an always satisfying meal in such a cool dinner atmosphere. & kudos for the Gen X playlists chaining classic 80s hits!

Fast food joint with good fried chicken. We only came in because we missed our bus & the store was brightly lit. The service was a bit slow though because there was only one person at the front desk taking orders & serving the food. The bathrooms weren't entirely clean & the tables weren't clean either.
Jac Le Coq! Need I say more? This place serves fried chicken, fried chicken sandwiches with fries an various other sides like corn or macaroni salad. In my eyes, there aren't many chicken places that can compete with KFC (or with Korean friend chicken) but Jac Le Coq is definitely up there, or perhaps even beyond. I got the Pickle Jack (Look Morty, I'm a sandwich!) to go, & it was still warm when I got home 10 minutes later in -6 weather. Personally, I think the chicken could use more salt but I'm a smoker so my taste buds are not at their full strength. Super good chicken, give it a try ! The atmosphere is cool, its like a modern version of a 50s diner & while I don't drink, they do offer 2 kinds of beer to drink while eating your chicken. The employees are super nice, speedy & efficient. Especially Robin & the other multi-haired girl working with her on this night (1/15/2024). I'm sorry I didn't get your name ! All in all, as a Verduner its weird seeing a chicken place where the Dunkin was forever, but if something has to replace it, I'm glad its Jacs !! Try it out today !
Very delicious fried chicken. Tried their burgers: Classic Jack, Jack Miel, & box of 8 chicken pieces. Also tried the poutine, I would prefer the poutine to have more sauce, because mine didn't have enough sauce & the cheese wasn't able to melt.. but I guess that's personal preference.
It was good chicken, it was tasty. I took a classic burger & the 3 chicken combo with fries, the burger was ok but the chicken itself was very crispy, definetely would come back for that.

This place used to serve great fried chicken-I might have had the best fried chicken I have ever had in this place about two years ago, right when Covid was wrapping up its vicious end. Unfortunately, the food is no longer what it used to be. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it's just not the same. That said, it's not bad food, but it certainly used to be a lot better. I hope it will return to its former glory. We will certainly continue visiting this place.
This is the third time I've had chicken from this place. The food is delicious. There is plenty of seating available & there is a small parking lot. I ordered takeout & I was a little surprise how long I had to wait for my meal . As I've seen people coming in after me, & receiving their orders & leaving while I had to wait.. The staff are friendly & helpful. But it's not cheap, I find it a little expensive for the portion. Because of this, I only order occasionally.
I didn't know they did full fried chicken pieces & accidentally ordered that when I wanted strips. Possibly the worst fried chicken I've ever had. Bad in so many ways it's hard to start. The little wood fork they give is not strong enough to remove meat from the bone & the chicken seemed to be an unusually high amount of very strong ligaments (I don't think that can be their fault)
Just make sure you open strips.
To the restaurant: you are so bad at frying chicken you really should check what a customer means be "3 piece combo"
