Reviews describe Jack Le Coq as a go-to spot for fried chicken with crispy crust, juicy meat, and generous portions served in a nostalgic retro atmosphere. The tenders, especially Nashville and red spicy varieties, along with the Jack Classic and Deluxe burgers, are frequently highlighted as must-try items. Sides such as waffle fries, poutine, and macaroni and cheese are commonly mentioned, with fry texture noted as crunchy by some and less favorable when delivery or cooking affects quality. The overall sentiment is that the chicken is fresh and flavorful when prepared well, but several reviews report changes in recipe, quality, or price since ownership changes, leading some to say the value has declined. Service is typically fast and friendly, with many praising the upbeat atmosphere and efficient takeout or dine-in options; however there are occasional complaints about errors, miscommunication, or missing items on orders. A few diners describe issues like undercooked chicken on a first order, inconsistent portions, or long waits at peak times, but these are not universal. Despite the variability, Jack Le Coq is widely regarded as one of the best fried chicken spots in the area, drawing repeat visits for the crispy texture, variety of sauces, and comfort-food appeal.
10/10, Hands-down the best chicken in Montreal. We come to Verdun all the time for Jack le Coq.
Service was beyond incredible, & the manager hand-delivered the food & was extremely personable. Employees were very patient & kind.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is warm & very clean. The lighting & restaurant layout gives it a retro-style diner vibe.
I don't normally rate restaurants but the chicken at this place is phenomenal, feeling the flavours of the jack miel épicé mixing in my mouth made me want to eat another one right after. Also the male staff was very nice & patient despite my 1000 questions 😂
The best to go spot in the city for fresh chicken, i would recommend the tenders, it's to die for.
The service is quick & a hospitable atmosphere. I would surely come back.
Chicken Tenders is incredible. The Jack Classic & Deluxe burgers are a must-try, & the red tenders are hands down the best ever - juicy, crispy, & full of flavor. Everything tasted fresh & perfectly cooked. Highly recommended!

I want to readjust my review regarding Jack Le Cocq... more tan a year ago the price was fine & the chicken now the receipe seem to have changed & the price went too way up ... honestly I will not go back again

Get the tenders with onion rings, nothing better on the menu, w the honey mustard.
Just don't get the gravy or fried chicken pieces ngl.
Seasoning is mid, sauce is tasteless. Chicken tenders peak.
I flocked to google immediately after having the feeling the owners of this location had changed. Seems from the other reviews that is correct.
The chicken was undercooked & i was told it was just'juicy'. They fixed this issue but the chicken doesn't taste as it used to. Also, the new crinkle fries are a flop. We'll be looking for a new chicken place ☹?.
The dinner had a very vintage look to it which was very nostalgic. We got a large poutine & still felt like the portion was a bit small but it was still good. Would recommend the chicken wings with the honey & garlic sauce it was very tasty.

I love the food here, the chicken is always cooked to perfection. Honestly, I'm glad I don't live nearby, or I'd never be able to resist the constant temptation to come back again & again.
Great chicken when spiced up, not so when just plain. Ordered regular chicken slides, the batter was the usual & the chicken was of good quality. What was disappointing was the lack of flavor the pieces had: no salt, no pepper, just plain batter & chicken. I was not expecting a lot, but this was beyond distaste full. Too bad because the spicy chicken is terrific. So, if you want to try regular you have been warned don't expect much, regular is really-No spices at all. It's just plain chicken. Other than that I cannot complain!!!!
If you crave fried chicken, this is the spot. They have the best fried chicken in town, & if you're adventurous, the spicy version hits the spot, even single time. The multiple sauce chimoices is great (I always rake the hot honey & the Flame (it's not too spicy, so you can try it). The service is always very very pleasant & polite & kind. Try it. The owner John is always there to provide amazing service all around, & the pink neons offers a cool cozy yet cyberpunk-esque vibe... pure awesome spot!
This was the best god damned fried chicken I've had in my entire life, I had a chicken burger & wings, it absolutely rocked me & left me shaking in my little boots! service was also super friendly despite how slammed they were! ill be back asap.
