Nous cherchions à manger des plats japonais dans un bon restaurant, &, malheureusement, le Iru Izakaya n'a pas répondu à notre attente. Je ne le vous conseille donc pas pour trois raisons :
- les Yakisoba & Kinoko Mazemen étaient décevants & ne ressemblaient pas à des plats japonais. Les pâtes étaient plus comme des pâtes italiennes, assaisonnées sucré-salé. Le goût était très quelconque. Un peu trop gras.
- même si les trois serveurs qui se sont succédés au service étaient gentils, le service est peu efficace, lent & trop effacé.
- la décoration japonaise chic est agréable mais l'ambiance nous a paru froide & le lieu plutôt impersonnel. Il manque une âme, une personnalité, à ce restaurant.
Good food overall but while I had one of the best dishes I've ever had here, I also had one of the worst.
The best: Kamo Chahan
It's duck confit fried rice with several amazing toppings & it's really, REALLY good. It was some of the best flavours I've ever experienced. I would (& will) come back here just for that.
The worst: Ramen Kamo
Genuinely one of the most disgusting things I've ever tasted. This is ramen that has duck bacon, duck confit, a soy-marinated soft-boiled egg, gai lan & marinated shiitake & it's all in a shoyu broth. The noodles were undercooked (or maybe the kind that they use are naturally rubbery no matter how much you cook them) which was already bad but the real problem is the broth; it's sour & just awful tasting. By far the worst broth I've ever had the displeasure of slurping on. The ramen toppings are fine but, unfortunately, since they all have to bathe in that broth, the whole dish suffers. This also happened to be the last thing I ate so it unfortunately put a real damper on an otherwise enjoyable experience.
The gochujang karaage & furaido poteto were both good. Not great, but good.
As for the restaurant itself: absolutely beautiful. Gorgeous decor & comfortable seating.
Service vraiment mauvais, la serveuse était super gentille, mais on a du attendre & faire signe à la serveuse plusieurs fois (en fait toutes les fois, elle n'est jamais venue nous voir pour savoir si tout allait bien) pour venir nous voir. Elle nous a pas demandé si nous voulions touts les plats en même temps (plats à partager & plats principaux) car certaines personnes avaient pris des plats à partager & d'autre juste des plats principaux. Les plats étaient ok, mais le plus mauvais était le ramen, un des ramens les plus « dégeulasse » que j'ai jamais goûté. Vraiment trop salé, la serveuse a amené de l'eau pour le diluer, une fois diluer ça goûtait quand même trop le sel & a fait ressortir un arrière goût de brulé - comme s'ils ont salé le plat pour cacher que quelques chose avait brûlé. Je laisse rarement des commentaires négatif, mais pour le prix ça vaut vraiment pas le coup. J'ai quand même laissé du tip, car je connais le domaine & c'est difficile mais franchement…
We got two mocktails, Hiyayakko (tofu), Kani korroke, & Kushiyaki Gyutan. The tofu was my favorite super refreshing & light, the beef tongue could've been more tender, but the flavor really stood out! The crab korroke had a tasty filling, but maybe i got an unlucky batch cause the breading was incredibly too salty, I couldn't eat it 🥲
The servers were all super friendly! Laurence was really enthusiastic & fun to chat with at the bar. She had a mocktail I had gotten that wasn't to my liking remade & the servers made sure it was something I enjoyed, it was really appreciated ☺? I'd goback to give other food & drinks a shot
Nous avons apprécié le service courtois & rapide de Marie. Les délicieuses bouchées du chef & l'ambiance de brasserie japonaise au multiples néon. Définitivement à refaire.
Delivery: Iru ramen was good but not great, especially for that price. Like the work was a very thin strip & the broth could have been better. Kamo chahan was pretty good.
