Restaurant Impérial is widely regarded as a premier destination for dim sum, offering a vast and diverse selection of fresh, authentic dishes that arrive piping hot thanks to an efficient QR-code ordering system. Many patrons praise the generous portion sizes, reasonable pricing, and high-quality staples like BBQ pork bao, har gao, and shrimp dumplings. While the atmosphere can be lively and bustling during peak hours, the spacious venue frequently hosts large family gatherings and receives compliments for its cleanliness and attentive service. Although experiences can occasionally vary regarding consistency and wait times during the busiest shifts, the restaurant remains a favorite for those seeking a modern, convenient, and flavorful Chinese dining experience in the Montreal and Brossard areas.
the service is extremely poor at this location. the staff cannot communicate well English or French. when you try to ask for a question or to order, they hand you a QR code to order food, but walks away when you have a question. The servers work for & expect tips but offer no service or help to customers who want to just order food & asked for a French menu.
Update: When it comes time to pay, this restaurant asks me would I like to pay cash or by credit card? They said if I paid cash, I don't need to pay taxes. I happen to have cash on me, so I said I can pay by cash. Then the waiter proceeded to calculate the bill, & told me to pay an amount more than the amount I ordered, & I had been given no receipt. I paid but I calculated afterwards that the waiter charged me over 20% tips because he felt customers should be charged 20% tips for a completely terrible service & neglected customers. Well there's news for you mate: Tips are earned if customers feel the waiters deserve it based on attentive & good service & it's neither mandatory nor something taken for granted!!
You better stop charging customers over 20% automatically regardless of their method of payment. Whether you charge me taxes is up to you, but it is unacceptable no receipt, & automatically assume customers are happy with your waitering services while you guys probably are not logging the sale & under the table anyway! The waiters have only checked on me once (the beginning to take the order) anyway. The food is not even delivered by waiters, it's delivered by the kitchen staff. It's THEIR JOB to serve customers. It's not the customers who should supplement their income cuz the boss pays them poorly!
The food is not bad, but the Chinese cuisine in New York, Vancouver or Toronto are better than this place
Disappointing & unacceptable experience. I have visited this restaurant before with my parents, speaking Cantonese, & received fine service. However, during my recent visit with my Mauritian in-laws (who look Chinese but speak English), the staff's attitude was night & day compared to how they treated Cantonese-speaking tables.
Throughout the night, our servers were rude, impolite, & impatient, while providing friendly, attentive service to the table right next to us. The discrimination became undeniable at dessert: we were initially served basic orange slices, while the table next to us received traditional Chinese tapioca dessert. When we asked for equal treatment, the waiter only brought enough tapioca for half of our table-clear evidence they gave our portion away to the other table.
Little did the staff know, I actually speak fluent Cantonese. It is deeply frustrating to realize this restaurant treats customers differently based on the language they speak. Service should be equal for everyone, regardless of language. I will not be returning.
This is probably one of the reasons why Kam Fung has a busier dinner service. They treat every customer with the same level of respect.
We went to dim sum early in the morning & our qr code wasnt working. My husband & i tried multiple times on our phone & the the waiter tried as well. He even tried to give us a new one & it still didnt work. He offered us to order by paper. We got our order & then we wanted more so we asked or another paper in which the waitress gave us attitude about not being able to order on the app & was like well it works now so order shoving her phone at us showing that it worked now.
The food was delicious & the atmosphere was okay but the lady that served us for the first half of the meal was horrible, we were clearly disturbing her, no water for the children,, no hot hot water for the sake, when we were about to ask her utensils other than chopsticks her response was'What do you want?'. After a talk with the manager the service improved but wasn't incredible. There where 18 of us at 2 different tables, what I found most despicable was that we where celebrating the death of a loved one & the restaurant had been highly recommended by a member of our family, we will give them another chance but it better be worth it or we aren't going to be going back!
