We celebrated my dad & brother's birthday this weekend & were received by an incredibly welcoming staff. We've been to Il Cortile countless times & it NEVER disappoints. The weather was perfect which made this beautiful Italian caché garden restaurant the perfect, cozy spot for an elegant evening. Dino was the perfect host, as usual, & his team was kind, courteous, & super helpful & versatile. Everyone is always willing to help, whether it's offering to take a family photo, or switching something on the menu to accommodate us, we are very grateful for their hospitality. The food was exquisite: meatball melted in your mouth, osso bucco fell off the bone & the dessert was delectable 😋. The female server was sweet, so pleasant & genuinely attentive to our needs. As Italian in Montreal I can officially say I've found my favourite Italian restaurant in Montreal. Yes it's a little price but it's absolutely worthy for quality & quantity of food. The service it's out of this world, our server (madur/ madir sorry if I've butchered your name) went above & beyond to give us the most amazing dinning experience. The place is super pretty & you're surrounded by flowers but it took an hour & a half to get my meal. The food was flavourless. The pasta sauce lacks so much flavor. One of my friends got a drink & it was so weirdly salty. My friend got the chicken, beware, cafeteria food tastes better. Would not come here if you're expecting to eat good italian food. Classic authentic italian food. They keep it simple & its amazing. Service was professional & fast. They are also very flexible with diatery resteictions as we asked to switch a sauce that had alcohol with something else so we rlly appreciated it.We went to test it out before having our engagement dinner during winter & we will surely pick this place. This is a lovely urban courtyard restaurant hidden away in the heart of downtown Montreal. The unique setting & the pleasant service by the amiable young staff compensate for the quality of the food at this establishment. If you enjoy North American-Italian cuisine then you won't be disappointed by the heavy cream sauces, faux parmesan, very salty good or overcooked meats. Montreal has so much to offer when it comes to authentic Italian food but Il Cortile isn't one of the places. The secluded terrasse is so beautiful & secluded, you feel you're in Italy. The Italian food is so on point, authentic & just amazing. The service & the staff - we feel like we're part of family, even if only going a few times. Dino, the owner/manager of Il Cortile was so wonderful & made my husbands birthday party celebration with our friends & family very special. The food was delicious from the appetizers, to main course to the dessert. An extensive wine list to choose from & a lovely atmosphere. Our server (Jasmine) was so professional, kind, polite & attentive without hovering. I highly recommend Il Cortile for a lovely lunch or dinner or celebration, without hesitation. If the weather cooperates then ask for a table in the courtyard surrounded by beautiful flowers & dine al fresco. We look forward to many more meals at this Italian restaurant. Beautiful location & the waiters are great but the food wow such a big disappointment. I felt I was at a school for cooking. An Italian restaurant that serves raw zucchini & squashed eggplant drenched in oil, appetizers missing salt-the whole table complained. Improve on the basics & this could be a 5 star restaurant. The most beautiful Italian restaurant in the world. The nicest staff you could ask for. Felt a real connection with the workers. The food was absolutely delicious. Creamy rose sauce is to die for. My mother & I went for dinner here this evening after flying in from Vancouver. The food was simple & delicious, as Italian food should be. Our server, Mansour, was lovely. Avoid at all cost! À éviter! There are plenty of good Italian restaurants in Montreal, NOT THIS ONE! Food is fair at best but the service is awful. 2 glasses of wine were spilled on 3 of us by 2 different waiters... silk, linen, nice shirts, .. irrecoverable. They offered us one free beer & to bring back the cleaning bill, that's it. I have travelled in many countries & never have I had such a bad experience. It was my second time at this restaurant as I always give a chance to the runner. Sorry this restaurant would not even make it in the Turtle's team!
