FYI this & Yokato Yokabai are connected & both places serve the same ramen. We tried going to Yokato first & there was a 90 minutes wait. We went around the corner thinking this was a different restaurant but after getting a table immediately (yay!) we were happy to realize they served the ramen as well ! So you get two menus, awesome decor & a lot less waiting time ! Amazing atmosphere, fast service & tasty food ! Both ramen black cod were amazing. However, the fried chicken I got was just ok. Can't wait to come back & try the rest of the menu !View more

Low key some of the best ramen in Montreal, this place is constantly busy for a good reason. Great service, crazy good Atmosphere & the bar + restaurant areas are pretty cool, definitely gives an izakaya vibe. Everything here is fantastic too, whole menu doesn't disappoint.View more

I went here twice Once with my team, & we order different types of food & appies & was good experience. Its just that we reserved ahead of time. Its a very popular place. I also once with my friend & got ramen both & I didnt like the chicken ramen. The chicken itself smelled so bad. Portions are huge, & the atmosphere is beautiful. Keep in mind that you will need go wait around an hour or more to get in with no reservation ( & I'm not sure but I guess the ramen bar only accepts walk-ins or its just so hard to get reservation)View more

Came here for a team dinner & the food is really good & authentic. The hostess handcrafted a menu for all of us to share & it allowed us to try their best selection of tapas. My favourite is the tako wasabi & I even managed to convert some of my teammates who were initially afraid to try! The ramen is the best I've tried in Montreal, but take note that it's in the restaurant next door called Yokato Yokabai & they have a separate reservation system.View more

Jon Batiste, Toronto/Montreal, Uneasy Tour Road Trip Food Stop #3: Pre Concert Meal Montreal! Yes! I was on an 1100 mile (look I'm an American & I don't do Metric...) round trip loop starting & ending in Hartland, Vermont & spending one night with dinner & lunch outings, in Montreal. Pretty sure I've been in Montreal before. But also pretty sure it was so long ago I cannot pinpoint what decade that might have been...LOL I love a road tip tho. & I do spend some time planning out every move I make, most importantly my meals. Two things: I want to know where I'm going to eat & I do not want to "waste" time/money/calories on a meal with no forethought or a seriously disappointing meal. So I spent some time on Yelp browsing Montreal restaurants & I focused on Asian cuisine, because that's my jam. The restaurant scene in Montreal seemed a little strange, but there were Japanese options & I was actually kind of excited when I found Ichigo Ichie. I mean Japanese Pub Seemed like a genius idea. Spoiler Alert: It Is! I am that person who not only plans where I am going to eat, I also plan my actual meal. I review menus, I make preliminary item choices. I don't eat beef, pork or poultry, so some level of planning is always required. Particularly if I'm going to eat somewhere that identifies as a "Pub." Pubs are not necessarily known for their embrace of "meatless." You know? I read online menus for Ichigo Ichie & there were actually some things I really wanted to try. Plus they had small plates. Which is my jam. I always want to try as many different things as I can when I eat out & I'm that friend who is so commitment phobic I can't even commit to an entree for dinner. No. Really. Let me graze & snack! It looked promising at Ichigo Ichie. I drove from Toronto to Montreal & found parking right on the street on the same block (which I'm thinking might not be unusual for Canadians/Quebecois, but was kind of shocking for me!). I arrived shortly after they opened & was able to get a seat at the bar. There are multiple dining rooms & levels here & I feel like the lower Ramen spaces is probably amazing. There was no way I could eat a bowl of Ramen pre-concert & with Hot Flashes...but that situation looked TOP NOTCH. Take the whole "pub thing" seriously folks. I feel like I did not & this spot FILLED UP & became insanely loud. Which, if I'm saying it was loud, means probably unbearable for most everyone else. Service was good, but everyone got to where they were RUNNING because it was crazy. LOL Sake list is limited, but pretty good. Much better than most places. So my dining experience was sort of evenly split between being disappointed because I'd somehow ordered a dish with flavors I work with at my own spot every day (I want completely different flavors when I'm eating out) & meh Age Dashi Tofu to being SUPER INTO an amazing damn Daikon Salad (I. LOVE. Salads. Most especially when someone else makes them for me & they are intricate & have complex flavors & an interesting variety of ingredients) & the most delicious & satisfying Udon Carbonara (which they made meatless for me!). Not gonna lie. That Udon Carbonara had my attention all the way from Vermont before I ever got in the car to start that 1100 mile loop & it did NOT disappoint. Some delicious stuff happening here. Also staff is fully bilingual. But this is a local spot in the middle of a residential neighborhood. Which is the kind of place you WANT to be going to! Genius concept. Excellent execution. Too expensive for what it is. Portions are tiny. Hot Sake is value for money. If I was you I would just go next door to the ramen place. Ramen over there is a lot better than the food served in here. I just had 5 dishes & I'm still hungry. Might have to get a McFlurry from McDonald's next door.View more

une mention exceptionnel pour la morue noire. La quantité pour un menu dégustation ils ont 3 choix (30-45-60) & nous étions en majorité un peu déçu de la quantité (45) j'ai fini de souper & j'avais faim litéralement. C'était bon mais la quantité de leurs menu dégustation devrait être mentionné sur un menu on the side . Anyway si jamais j'y retourne y'a pas de sake bomb & juste de la morue ( sake bomb sont bon mais on retrouve pas la même ambiance qu'au imadake hehe ) anyway. Overall 3.8/5View more

The atmosphere is pretty nice, but don't come here for the food. The menu comes in small, overpriced portions. For reference, 5 pieces of karaage will run you 18$. The food itself was nothing impressive either - the BBQ squid was too rubbery to chew through & the shrimp tempura was heavily underseasoned. Not a bad place to grab a drink, but I wouldn't get food here againView more
