The food was good but the worker there tried to force us to pay tips & it was very annoying. GREAT food but will never come back again. Really disappointing experience. The service was okay & the manager made us feel pressured into paying a $6 tip rather than leaving a tip voluntarily. A tip should be the customer's choice, not something they feel forced to pay. Unfortunately, this experience left a very bad impression, & we won't be returning.

Forcing customers to pay a tip is unacceptable. A tip should be based on the quality of service, not treated as a mandatory charge. Very unprofessional & disappointing experience. Definitely won't be coming back.

Great food, okay service, some stuff I would order last ticket would show up while I ordered more, this was making me full pretty fast, also kept circling to refil our water, & we all know restaurants water fills you up, perhaps its done on purpose but hopefully not, when it was time to pay, I paid debit & wanted to tip cash, when he saw the receipt he asked if I forgot to tip, wich kinda rubbed me the wrong way,tips are customary not mandatory, as a mover, I never ask or expect a tip, & sometimes we don't even get tipped, just move on. Great food tho!

?Our server was Asian. We were still in the middle of our meal with plenty of time left before closing, but the server brought a dish tub over & placed it directly onto our table twice to clear our dishes while we were still eating. Later, even though we had ordered dessert, all our utensils had already been taken away, leaving several of us unable to eat it.
?We had already completed our payment, but when the server noticed no tip was included, they brought the payment terminal back to our table & demanded we pay a tip. They entered the tip amount themselves & shoved the machine toward us. We didn't want to leave anything, but felt forced to pay.
?I don't live in Montreal & have no intention of returning. Compared to the US, the restaurant wasn't even a good value, & the whole experience was deeply unpleasant. I hope this warning helps others avoid the same treatment.

Regarding the owner's response: No matter what excuse or explanation they might give, placing a bus tub directly on our table while we were still eating to clear dishes was simply disgusting.

If you're looking for a korean bbq + AYCE sushi, Hoshi offers both without sacrificing the taste of either.

I would say the variety is hit or miss depending on if you wanted anything really specific, but I can't fault them for that as it isn't common for an AYCE to be both a sushi & a bbq place. It could also be that their lunch menu is different from their evening menu.

The food overall is good, the atmosphere feels inviting, & the staff are definitely worth praising for their friendly & outgoing attitude.

My bill for the lunch menu ended up being around 65$ before tips for 2 people, which isn't bad in my opinion.

If you got a car, or got easy bus access somehow, this place is solid & I can definitely recommend at least trying it once to see if you vibe with it.

Went here for the all-you-can-eat with a group of 4 adults. The food was okay, nothing special, but the service completely ruined the experience.

We were rushed the entire time. About 1 hour in, staff were already asking if we wanted to order more & pushing us along, even though the dining time is supposed to be around 2 hours. It didn't feel like we were being given a normal, relaxed dining experience.

What made it worse was the overall vibe. We were the only brown (South Asian) group in the restaurant. Throughout the meal, I felt like the staff were constantly watching us & treating us differently. It was uncomfortable & unnecessary.

For context, we ordered normally-nothing excessive-& we didn't waste any food. We even asked for the bill at around the 1 hour 40 minute mark, so it's not like we were overstaying.

If the issue was just timing or table turnover, that's one thing-but the way it was handled, combined with how we were made to feel, left a really bad impression. If they only care to cater to a certain type of crowd, maybe they should move their restaurant somewhere in Ohio or Mississippi where they will find their desired crowd & don't have to deal with diversity, because this was not it.
Still left a 20% tip btw maybe you can use it for behavioural short courses for your staff.

Would not go back.

me & my friends went here to get dinner around 6 on sunday & there was 6 of us. the food took a while to come out, some food that we didn't order came to our table, the servers looked like they didn't wanna serve us at all. when it came to paying we all paid by couple so 3 bills in total & the guy checking us out ( maybe the manger) didn't let us put our own tip but he picked his own tip which i found is a bit weird since most places let you select your own tipping… our bill went from $105 to $127 for 2 people.. it's not bad but it's just that he selected his own tip which is absurd…

Everything was nice. Atmosphere was calming & welcoming & the food was delicious. My only complaint was one of the older workers there who seemed to add tipping in the final bill without notifying us. We were three different parties there, so three different bills. Two-Two & Three. It seemed gor one of the bills he added more or less 20$ while the others payed 15$ extra. I feel as tho tipping shouldn't be in the final bill, & be based on the experience we had. Especially since then also got upset when we asked him about it.

They charged me tips twice (approx. $40 x 2). I noticed it on the bills & got it reversed though. It's disgusting & unethical practice, I'll never come back again !
