Two-flavored (garlic & spicy) jokbal was so tender & flavorful! Soup paring with Kim chi, addition of sundae for 4$! Must try this place!

I absolutely love the pork soup here! Every time I'm in the office, I make sure to stop by for lunch. I can handle spicy food, but I actually recommend trying the non-spicy one. The spice can overpower the rich flavor & aroma of the broth. The original soup lets you truly appreciate how delicious & well-made it is. Highly recommended!

Trying out the new Hanyang jokbal in Montreal.

Honestly, the side dishes are pretty good 👌
The pork bone soup & pickles aren't too salty at all.
I got the spicy pig trotters. The meat on the big bones has this nice smoky, roasted taste. Once you take the meat off the bone, it's super flavorful & tender. Definitely a spot I'd come back to.

Price is reasonable & the portion is huge. I couldn't even finish the whole rice bowl, so I packed the extra meat to go.

Overall, the food was far too salty. The soups, especially the gukbap, would be much better if they were seasoned more lightly & customers could adjust the salt level to their own taste. It honestly tasted like salt water.

On the positive side, the assorted sundae was delicious.

Finally tried Hangyang Jokbal after hearing about their new location on Stanley.

Overall, I'd describe it as good, but not particularly memorable.

My friend & I both left feeling very full, yet somehow not completely satisfied. It's one of those places where I'd happily go again if someone invited me, but probably wouldn't choose on my own.

Here's what we ordered:

* Half & Half Jokbal (Original + Spicy) - Definitely the highlight of the meal. The pork was tender, rich in collagen, & it's not easy to find good jokbal in Montreal. Personally, I found the original version a bit mild, but the spicy one had more flavor.
* Pork Bone Soup - Generous portion, but I still prefer the soup at Big Bone Soup.
* Rose Tteokbokki - Pretty good, although the portion felt quite small.
* Cold Noodles - Refreshing, but about two-thirds of the bowl was vegetables, & the sauce was a little sweeter than I expected.
* Sundae (Korean Blood Sausage) - It tasted more like a glutinous rice sausage. Decent, but nothing special.
* Seafood Pancake - Unfortunately the most disappointing dish for me. It was lacking seasoning & flavor. I personally prefer the one at Hwang.

Besides the jokbal, I think there are other Korean restaurants in Montreal that do the remaining dishes better.

Nothing we ordered was bad, but nothing really stood out either.

If you're specifically craving Korean-style jokbal, I'd recommend giving this place a try. Otherwise, there are a few Korean restaurants in Montreal that I personally enjoy more.

Just my personal opinion & taste preferences.

We tried several types of jokbal, noodles, & gukbams. The kimchi was very good but others of the side dishes & kongnamul soup was salty, especially Bibim-Noodle was overly seasoned, & the signature bul-jokbal had no smoky flavor & wasn't spicy at all. The sundae gukbap was good. However, the pork gukbap had a very strong pork smell. I had to remove the meat from the broth immediately, & it was only manageable to eat after doing so.
Having had great experiences at Hanyang Jokbal in Toronto & Ottawa, I was excited to visit, but I was disappointed that the signature jokbals tasted quite different from what I remembered.
Still, the restaurant was clean & comfortable, & the staff were friendly, attentive.

Food was really delicious! The tofu seafood soup was the best. The portions were generous, & everything tasted very fresh. We had a great dining experience & would definitely come back!
