Concept sympa, mais portions petites, cuisson laborieuse sur le grill, qui noircit vite. Pas de refill d'eau alors que nos verres sont vidés. On ne nous demande pas si on veut commander d'autres choses à part les desserts.
Les desserts sont copieux par contre.
La serveuse ne parlait pas français, ce qui est de plus en plus courant en centre-ville malheureusement…
3 of us ordered the 3 person set, server tried hard to talk us out of it, said it's a challenge. It ealws not. Was a good amount of food for 3 hungry people, noodles & rice were excellent, the green salad is not.. Tokyo tea isn't good but we knew that when we ordered it.
Highly recommend this restaurant. Make sure to make reservations as the chances of getting a table without one is slim. The service was amazing & the food was delicious. Definitely worth the money. Can't wait to go back.
Update 7 years later! It's still amazing! This time around we did the holiday special for 2 & it was perfect with the smores dessert! Delicious!!!!

Très bonne place pour aller manger en groupe. Nous avons pris le menu happy hour pour les groupes & ajouter des plats dont la langue de boeuf. Cependant, la portion était très petite pour le prix & il n'y avait que quelques fines tranches. J'y reviendrais pour le happy hour, mais pas à pleins prix car plusieurs compétiteurs offrent des formules à volonté qui sont tout aussi bonnes. Il aurait été bien que les sauces soient identifiées sur la table car on ne savait pas ce quelles contenaient
Service was excellent. Server was quick & considerate (he asked if we wanted tea when we arrived because it was cold outside, & offered menu suggestions) - sorry I wish I caught your name!
Food was decent, beef was very good - the cheaper marinated cuts were actually best. Chicken we found was a bit lacking flavor & takoyaki was just so-so, meat piece inside was a good size but dough on the inside was quite mushy & didnt taste the greatest (might just be preference).
Overall service & marinated beef were good, so we would come back again - just note you need to call ahead/reserve most days to be guaranteed a table. (Umakara - the marinated one with sweet sauce was very good as a side note)

Nous sommes allés chez Gyu-Kaku pour célébrer l'anniversaire de mon copain & tout était excellent. L'ambiance était chaleureuse, le service attentionné & la nourriture délicieuse. Le concept du BBQ japonais rend l'expérience vraiment amusante & conviviale.

We tried the Japanese BBQ set for three & it was more than enough food we all left full. The grilling experience was fun, & the variety of meats kept it interesting. Some cuts were nicely marinated & tender, but overall still enjoyable once grilled properly.
The side items (cheese, peppers, marinade foil-wrapped items like mushroom) added a nice change of flavour during the meal. Cooking everything at the table is part of the fun here, & the grill stays hot. The person who serves us guided us on time to cook each type of meat. That was very thoughtful.
The highlight at the end was definitely the ice cream the matcha flavour was the clear winner at our table, but the vanilla & taro were good too.
Service was friendly & quick, & the pacing between dishes worked well no waiting around.
Would come back & maybe try a different meat selection next time.
