We have been going to Greasy Spoon for 10 years & every time the food & service are amazing!! It is also our three teenagers' fav place; to each their own taste!! Amazing tuna burger, cheese burger, juicy fried chicken burgers!! We have had bavette, ribs (pork & beef) , & roasted cornish hen before. We always get some calamari or salmon tartare with oysters as appetizers!! Their cocktails are loaded with alcoholl!! We always get the half-baked cookie with ice cream, & today we had the perfect cheesecake!!! Great job Angelo training all the waiters & waitresses; always making us feel special when we visit!View more
The atmosphere & service were excellent. However, the food was extremely disappointing. Especially when one considers the prices, the food was subpar. I ordered the Chicken Burger with fries, & my friend had the poutine. First of all, my friend had to send the poutine back because there was barely any sauce brune on his poutine. My fries were extremely dry & had a weird bite to it, while my chicken patties in the burger were also extremely dry. I had to cover my fries & chicken with sauce to counteract the dryness. The buns & toppings were tasty, but for the price I expected something much better. Everything else was nice though, & their signature greasy spoon beer was good. Our waiter was sympathetic.View more
Great food & attentive, jubilant staff! I enjoyed every bite of my juicy burger & sips of Bloody Caesar. Set up is chill & leathery with a hint of neon & deer heads!View more
This has been my favourite bar since I moved to Montreal. The owner is a great host & servers are the best (for real). Try their lobster rolls, I was amazed!! Tartares & chicken burger are my faves too! For drinks, ask their special, Old Cuban, secretly crafted by Marouane & now available in the menu, you gonna love it!!View more
We had a great experience choosing this restaurant by chance. It did not disappoint. Owner was very personable & informative. The food was excellent & presented very well. Very attentive service & a relaxing, chill atmosphere…. Just what we were looking for. Tuna burger is exceptional!View more
2021 Cool little place on Laurier in the Mile End district. Service was pretty solid from start to finish. Many French students working here however did their best to serve us in our preferred English. Well done. Had lobster/mushroom stuffed medaglioni (giant ravioli) & lobster rolls. Very good. 2023 Still going strong. Fish 'n Chips, Tuna Burger, Tuna tartare, among other delights have all been savored. Mr. Angelo & his great staff do their best to take care of you, & succeed. Check it out.View more
Great atmosphere with warm lighting & friendly service from all the staff & owner.
Waitress went out of her way to make breakdown the menu & offer suggestions. Tuna burger was delicious with substitute of lettuce for the bun. Fish & chips was a generous portion cooked perfectly with a light breading. Wine by the glass was great pricing for today's market.
Excellent burger. Merci!
WOW! This restaurant was not what I remembered it being. Honestly, Im a harsh critic for restaurants, but my recent experience at Greasy Spoon was entirely positive. The restaurant has recently changed owners/management & I must say that I'll be going back thanks to the good food & service.
I went on a Saturday night with a girlfriend. Had no trouble getting a reservation earlier in the week & finding parking. We were eating a late meal, around 10 pm. I had the tuna tartare to start & the burger as my main course with a salad. Let me tell you, the tuna tartare was ONE OF THE BEST that i've had in a long time. The burger was also really good but for me, it was too big. It was also one of the best burgers i've had in Montreal. My girlfriend has the fried calamari to start, which isn't necessarily for me, but I have to admit it was tasty, especially the spicy marinara sauce that came with it. She also had a burger & LOVED it.
As for the drinks, I ordered a custom apple cucumber martini & the bartender had no hesitation to make it, & it was good. Just the right amount of alcohol & other ingredients.
The dessert for me was a miss. I didnt like the lemon meringue pie. I found it to be runny & the consistency didnt blend well with the graham & the foam on top (egg white foam or marshmallow?).
All in all, I'd give this resto an 8.5/9. I will definitely go back. The prices are reasonable, the environment is fun (you can catch a hockey game here ;)), & the food is good. Bravo to the new owners of G.S.!
