Gon Bui is a new Chinese resto-bar inspired by the lost temples in China. Gon Bui means 'Cheers' in Cantonese. We create our own new-Asian tapas dishes, inspired from traditional with a playful twist.
Gon Bui Restaurant Bar delivers a stylish, welcoming atmosphere with moody lighting, chic decor and a fortune tree that adds a memorable touch for any occasion. The menu blends Chinese inspired flavors with contemporary twists and offers plenty of shareable plates that are flavorful, well presented and often praised for freshness. Cocktails are inventive and varied, with many options and some standout signatures that complement the bold flavors. The service is described as friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, helping guests navigate and enjoy their meals, though a few notes about busy times mention occasional delays. The vibe is lively and social, whether brunch, night out with friends or date night, with music and a vibrant yet comfortable environment. This Laval favorite is repeatedly cited for high quality food and drinks, warm hospitality and a decor that makes it a standout spot worth returning to.
The food & service were good but the music was too loud, we had to scream to each other. We came for brunch so I would prefer to be able to talk & enjoy.
Last Saturday night, my friend invited me out to Gon Bui in Laval for the first time-& wow, the vibes were on point. The space is gorgeous, with moody lighting, stylish decor, & a live DJ setting the perfect tone to slide into the weekend.
We came to check out their new summer menu & kicked things off with some bold starters:
• Fried calamari ($22) - Crispy, flavorful, & tossed with garlic, onions, & bell peppers. That sesame mayo dip? A total flavor booster.
• Scallops crudo ($24) - Light, bright, & beautifully plated. The coconut-coriander sauce with green apple made each bite feel like a tropical escape.
• Fried wings ($18) - Golden & crispy with a tangy tamarind-plum sauce on the side. On their own, I found them a bit under-seasoned-but that sauce definitely helped bring it together.
Then came the Coco Espresso Martini ($18)-& let me tell you, this was a moment. Made with Rhum Café Rosemont, vodka, crème de coco, & espresso, it was flambéed tableside with a crème brûlée-style topping. Bold, smooth, & a little dramatic in the best way.
For my main, I went with the soya salmon ($26)-cooked beautifully with a crispy top layer & served in a light veggie broth. The bok choy wasn't really for me, & the white rice leaned a bit too sticky/sushi-style for my taste. But the salmon itself? So good it made up for it.
Dessert time (yes, we got two-no regrets):
• Canto churros ($11) - A single soft & sweet Chinese doughnut paired with orange-blueberry jam & ube whipped cream. A fun little bite, but I wish there were more than one!
• Chai latte panna cotta ($13) - Delicate & creative, with layers of orange-chocolate cream & apricot confit. This one didn't quite hit the spot for me, but it was an interesting combo.
Gon Bui nailed the atmosphere & brought plenty of flavor. It's a solid pick for date night, girls' night, or anytime you want to treat yourself. I'd love to come back & try their brunch-curious to see what creative twists they bring to the morning menu.

Fantastic restaurant! The restaurant feels like a warm home cooked meal, well cared for by Clark who gave great service. 10/10 definitely will come again.
This was our first time at the restaurant! The menu was tapas style & excellent! We had an amazing server, Clark who made sure the food came out quickly.
Great experience at Gon Bui. The food was delicious. Jiang Jiang was good I would recommend thickening the sauce a bit more. The Siu Mai excellent. To die for Scallops Crudo. Definitely will be coming back soon. Clarke our server is a great asset to this establishment extremely happy abd polite. I loved watching the kids next to us the slurping their mocktails. 😊

Calamari was amazing, hope you keep them for the next menu 😍 beef noodles delicious ! Tofu always very good. Chinese brocoli yum ! The service impeccable ! Each time I go it's even tastier. Can't wait for my next visit :)
Bonne continuation
