Gon Bui is a new Chinese resto-bar inspired by the lost temples in China. Gon Bui means 'Cheers' in Cantonese. We create our own new-Asian tapas dishes, inspired from traditional with a playful twist.
Gon Bui Restaurant Bar delivers a stylish, welcoming atmosphere with moody lighting, chic decor and a fortune tree that adds a memorable touch for any occasion. The menu blends Chinese inspired flavors with contemporary twists and offers plenty of shareable plates that are flavorful, well presented and often praised for freshness. Cocktails are inventive and varied, with many options and some standout signatures that complement the bold flavors. The service is described as friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, helping guests navigate and enjoy their meals, though a few notes about busy times mention occasional delays. The vibe is lively and social, whether brunch, night out with friends or date night, with music and a vibrant yet comfortable environment. This Laval favorite is repeatedly cited for high quality food and drinks, warm hospitality and a decor that makes it a standout spot worth returning to.
Unlucky as we are, we were once again seated below the speakers which made the music a bit too loud for our comfort. Beside that though, we really adored the atmosphere including the liveliness & the glamorous interior design. Especially the way that the ceiling is incorporated in the design, it was quite unique & lovely. The food was amazing. The flavours were adventurous & the options were also great. I especially enjoyed their salted duck egg carbonara udon that had a great creamy texture with an amazing balance of sweetness & saltiness. The other plates were also great but I wasn't a big fan of the peanut butter flavours in their beef noodles. I can see why people like it, but it was just not my thing. I really admire their concept of elevating Chinese Cuisine to a type of fine dining experience, especially while keeping the familiarity of sharing dishes. However, I still feel like the portions are way too small for the prices they charge. Each plate is around 20$ & the portions are just too small in my opinion. That is particularly true for the shrimp dumplings that are 16$ for 4 pieces. The dumplings were good, but still very expensive. The service was fantastic. Everyone was friendly, cheerful & patient. We had an amazing time but it did take some time before we got our drinks & the food also took some time before it was served.

Wooooooow, woooooooow, wooooooow. Last Night Was Amazing, despite having to wait to be seated for our reservation at 8:00pm, but I understood why because it was quite busy with a full house. Before being seated I was already enjoying the music provided by the live DJ. Once seated, the real fun was about to begin. A 4 course meal served with drinksssss. It was a limited menu (great never the less) because we were a large group for our work Holiday Party. Big shout out to Clark (our server) & his team. It was a great experience topped of with a Dragan Dance to celebrate the restaurant anniversary.
[Update 2024-nov] downgraded 1 star (4 to 3). The portions got smaller & the prices higher. The wait time for food was really long even though we came at 17h30. The drinks are ok. Overall, it's still ok if you want fusion cantonese food & a great ambiance for a night out with a group = dj was great. [DINNER REVIEW] Came here for dinner with friends on a Saturday night. Reservation was made easy with OpenTable online, you get a confirmation & everything : we reserved for 7pm & we were seated right away. It's still new (opened in Dec 2021), the service was excellent & the waitress that we had was courteous & informative about the menu. Speaking of which, the menu was small, only a dozen items but I expect them to add more choice as time goes on when their business grows. The food was good : the Bang Bang chicken & its sauce were excellent as well as the salted egg carbonara. If you've never had jellyfish, you should try their jellyfish & chicken dish (presented like a cold salad). Nonetheless, we thought that some dishes could be better : the fried calamari were soggy & lacking, the sauce in the longevity noodles were overly sweet & the Peking duck a bit on the pricey side (35$+tx) for 10 slices of duck. The cocktails, although pretty & Instagram-worthy, were very expensive (16$+tx). Instead, we chose their Hong Kong Milk tea & Lemon tea to quench our thirst & we were satisfied with our choices. Overall, it is a nice restaurant for outings & casual high end fusion Cantonese food. I wouldn't mind coming back here with family, with a date or with friends to spend a fun foodie evening.
Original drinks, Wonton was right, Beef dumplings was fresh & the curry was tasty. Even if the service was divided between server I have nothing to say about it. Very affordable & various options ranging by portion. Overall, it was a nice discovery, I would recommend to try it, but for myself I would not go again, nothing made me go crazy.
Atmosphère is young & well decorated. - Food is low quality & mediocre lobster nuggets are borderline edible, the fryed calamari is chewy but the sauce they put makes it ok, the fryed chicken is a normal fried chicken ressemble FU LAM buffet. They added an additional taxe which is dishonest & you need to contest to have remove, so check well your bill. + Drinks are well decorated & creative Conclusion: Food isn't worth the cost since is overall bad Just go for the drinks & check your bill so they don't take advantage.
Tucked into a plaza, this restaurant exceeded expectations. The decor, food, drink & overall lively vibe should be experienced by anyone visiting Laval. Parking is difficult but this is simply a testament to the quality of food, drink & service. The cocktail menu is amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed the lychee cocktail & the espresso martini. The latter was like a dessert, finished like a crème brûlée. We also had an assortment of items from the menu which is set-up for sharing small, medium & large plates. Add this local favorite to your itinerary!
Beau restaurant, ambiance plaisante.

This place was hyped by my sister & maybe I went on an unlucky day, but overall, it was disappointing. The service was subpar. The waiter was less than courteous & looked upset the whole time. We were asked for our drink order first & my husband had to remind 3 different staff (because it was never the same person) for a simple diet Coke 3 times after 2nd main dish had arrived. We received 3 different tables order 3 times in a row. Our water on our table was not even refilled once during our whole meal, but only at the end when the table was cleared. We were okay with the service being slow as it gave us time to chat, but it says something when the bill at the end of the night comes to you faster than your drinks & meals, & the server becomes polite & chatty when it time for tipping. For the price of the meals- taking in consideration the portions which is far from generous, it was not worth it.

The restaurant is okay at best. Went for an early supper & it was evident that most staff starts past 6pm as service was none existent prior to that time. When the waiter first came, we ordered drinks & we kept looking at the food menu. 5 minutes later, waiter came back to take our food order. We ordered Ha Gao, Siu Mai, Calamari & the Lo Mein. Now the interesting part is that the 3 first dishes came before we even got our drinks which were ordered 5 minutes before we ordered the food. Both dumpings lacked flavour without the sauces that came with it. Calamari was the best from what we tried & once the lobster & toppings were eaten, the lo mein tasted like Lipton chicken noodle soup. On the plus side, the drinks that we received were delicious & the decoration is very nice. AC is a little too strong for the table along the windows. I'm glad I tried it, but won't be going back.
Great ambiance & the restaurant is beautiful. The food & drinks were very good , however The whole experience was dampered by the waitstaff. There were mistakes in orders , they couldn't remember who ordered what drinks / food. The food came out at different times ( which I normally wouldn't mind but some people only got their food an hour after the rest of the table ) the wait was long between orders & then to top it all off the bills were wrong. Despite the good food I think overall this restaurant is a pass going forward. There is amazing food to be had in this city at other restaurants with an overall much better experience.
Very good restaurant. The food was great, the drinks were very good & the service was attentive. I went with 4 people & tasted a bit of everything including the desserts. We'll definitely be back!
