I've been in Montreal for five years & I can't believe I only had dinner at Garage last night. The food was incredible. One thing I really value about this restaurant is its authenticity & how the food is simply well done - Lebanese food as it should be - not an overpriced, complicated'story' of a dish.
Their kibbeh nayye was exactly how we'd eat it back home & it was amazing. The hummus, muhammara, cheese rolls, lahme sambusik, meat fatteh… wow.
Great experience, great ambiance, & great service. Thanks, Garage!
The food was amazing, only thing that its way expensive from other, & the dishes was not even full !! Like I had the shish tawok & the chicken was not even 100g for 25$ !! Same thing the meat whith hummus was not even 50g😅. It ended with me hungry with 100$ bill for 2 people.other ways still have a nice taste 👅
My friends & I traveled to Montreal for the first time & this was the first dinner location we tried. Lebanese food was new to most of us but we were excited to try! The atmosphere & interactions felt very cozy & personal, almost like we were joining someone's home for dinner.
The food was delicious! Being new to Lebanese, I was so excited to see many vegetarian options as well! I unfortunately did not get any pictures of the food! We tried the dip taster that allowed us to try lots of smaller plates of hummus, baba ghannouj, labneh, & muhammara. We had the tabbouleh & vegetarian kibbeh as well. But the star of the show for me was the fried cheese, rikakat jebneh!
Will definitely visit again if I come back to Montreal! Thank you for the wonderful hospitality!
Everything was amazing, friendly pressure free service. The food was delicious reminded me of the food I ate growing up with an elevated taste. We had kebeh naye, fattouche salad, hummus fateh, & black with mint chai. the ambience is warm &
welcoming. I recommend this hidden gem
This delicious restaurant was recommended to us by a friend, & we were so glad we ate there! The flavors & quality of the food was excellent. The service was great: fast, attentive, friendly. We loved the sample plates of Baba Ghannouj, Labneh, Muhammara, Hummus, Kibbeh, & the Kafta. It's a cozy setting for lunch. Highly recommended.
Garage Beirut is an absolute gem in Montreal. The food was outstanding across the board, & the chicken shish taouk really stood out. It was tender, juicy, & full of flavor. The hummus & baba ghanouj were incredibly fresh, creamy, & perfectly seasoned. Everything we ordered tasted authentic & well prepared, & you could tell real care went into each dish. Overall, an amazing experience & I would recommend it to anyone looking for delicious, high quality Lebanese food.
Atmosphere:
The place itself is tiny. Tried to get a reservation on same day via website, & it was apparently fully booked... decided to go anyway hoping we may be able to sit if we waited a little bit; Lo & behold, the place was completely empty??? So no wait time for us (yay!)
Service:
Service was quick & courteous without more... exchanged maybe 15 words with the waitress from start to finish.
Food:
We ordered
- Fattouch salad
- Cold mezzes tasting plater (hummus, baba ganouj, labneh & muhamara for 22$)
- Hot mezze tasting plater (patries - for 24$)
- kibbeh neye (raw beef with bulgur)
The kibbeh neye was good; its price, quality & quantity in line with other good libanese/syrian restaurants.
The fattoush salad was a ~mess~:
For 18$ I expect more salad than the size of my hand or at the very least a good quality salad. The salad was extremely bland; aside from the fresh mint & overly generous pomegranate molasses drizzle on top there was no identifiable dressing. There were giant chunks of tomatoes (1 1/2' thick), & about 3 large pieces of libanese cucumber.
The cold mezze were ~VERY~ expensive for their price & the quality was frankly not there. This was the worst baba banouj we've ever tasted (doubtful they even put salt in there), the muhamara was... okay, the labneh was a complete bust (plain, store-bought quality labneh decorated with ~dried~ mint. There was about 2 table spoons' worth of dip in every tiny bowl.
The hot mezzes were really good - again, too expensive for the size.
Overall I do not recommend this place.
Meat is well seasoned, but the hummus is lacking flavour… for the price, I would expect better quality ingredients. Good service & good atmosphere though!
Best lebanese I've had!
My husband has raved about this place since he lived in Montreal 10+ years ago. We revisited his old haunting grounds, & he's happy to report that the quality is still the same. The chef/owner has been consistently making great Lebanese food. & even recognized my husband!
Everything was so delicious. The hummus was very creamy, the fattoush dressing was well balanced, the sojok spices were out of this world, the fatteh hummus was very unique, & the jebneh was perfectly crunchy. We also got the kanefe, but it was a bit sweet for my taste.
I would come back in a heartbeat. If you want fresh, delicious Lebanese food with great service, this is your spot.
Walked past this place 100 times always packed finally decided to go try it out & was super happy. Everything was 1010. Fattoush, Hummus, & the shish taouk were to die for. Had leftover too, lady was sweet & the atmosphere was small & cozy felt like eating in an aunties house:) highly highly recommend
Super small & cramped place but did not feel claustrophobic, it's more cozy! Came by without a reservation for lunch (2 people) & was lucky to get a seat. We shared pita, rice, chicken shish taouk & fatteh hummus with beef. The pita was fresh. Shish Taouk: lovely, grilled to perfection, came with creamy, yummy garlic sauce that went very quickly, comes with pickles & some weird pizza looking situation with onions which I did not try but looked good. Fatteh Hummus: a bit disappointed because they were really light on the beef but I've seen photos where they really gave a lot. The crunchy pita chips in the dip were WAY to oily - the establishment would benefit from getting crispy without tons of oil. I genuinely think this dip would've been better with garlic or tzatziki added to it. It was missing a brightness/acid which made it bit plain. The rice was just rice. All in all, I enjoyed my meal & was pretty stuffed. This cost us about $60 before tip.
I went last night for a supper with lebanese friends that know the taste of the original lebanese food & really like this place & I honestly have to say the food is amazing, the service kind & fast & the place cozy, not very big, enough for small groups of people. We ordered Hummus, Baba ghannouj, SHISH TAOUK (omg so juicy & tender, my favorite), TABBOULEH, Vine leaves, Pita, Potatoes, SAMBOUSIK LAHMEH, RIKAKAT JEBNEH, KIBBEH NAYYEH, KENAFEH, all to share. The price in the average, 40$ each ish. My husband is an introvert person & for the first time i saw the happiness on his face for a food ahaha I'll come back for sure to try other specialities
Very authentic little restaurant, all Lebanese (waiters speak Arabic). Service fast & friendly. Good thing too because the place is TINY & gets packed at night. Barely enough room for everybody, like eating in a submarine. Outside seating is ok, but small, light wooden tables. Paper napkins. WC is ok but tiny & only one (queue). Food was quite good but portions felt small, not quite enough. We needed to order potatoes. The pita bread was simply bad, stale almost, wrapped in cheap plastic, cold. This could be an easy fix. Not good. The friend halloumi cheese was well done, as were the French fries & garlic potatoes (needed for satiety). The kebabs were ok, not great. The hummus again, ok (where's the oil? where's the red spice on top). The vegetables, frugal serving at best (3 tomato slices, 3 cucumber slices, that's all). Might be tolerable but...prices are sky-rocket high. Without drinks of any kind, you cannot escape
Always a delicious experience. The fatteh hummus is spectacular & so is the kenafeh. The garlic potatoes are spiced to perfection!
Garage Beirut offers an exceptional Mediterranean dining experience with its Lebanese mezze & charcoal-grilled meats. The atmosphere is cozy & the manager Naji extremely accommodating. The mezze, including creamy hummus, exquisite muhamarra, refreshing tabbouleh, mouth watering sujok , & freshly stuffed grape leaves, was outstanding. The mixed grill platter we shared between 3 people had a generous portion of chicken & beef kebabs, was grilled to perfection with a smoky, tender, & juicy flavor. The knowledgeable & attentive staff added to the delightful experience. For anyone who loves Mediterranean cuisine, this restaurant is a must-visit, earning a well-deserved five-star rating.
Great authentic Lebanese food. Excellent hummus & the kafta arayes are delicious
Cozy Lebanese place downtown, with a variety of dishes. Fatteh hummus, a yogurt base with crispy pita, cashews, & pomegranate to top. Really crunchy with a great texture profile to accompany their tough flatbread. I really adored their sojok, a crumbly beef sausage that was salty with some Middle Eastern undertones. It came with pomegranate syrup for some sweet & sticky contrast. Garlic potatoes had a crispy exterior, slightly soft interior, appropriate amount of seasoning, & garlic sauce was nice but they put it in a shallow bowl & it got everywhere. Their kenafeh was a sweet, pastry, slightly wet from a syrup on a bed of cheese. It was fragile compared to the tough cheese & the taste was fine.
Authentic lebanese restaurant. We got halloumi chese, kebab, & hummus. It was a great experience.
I recently dined at this wonderful Lebanese restaurant in Montreal & had an amazing experience. The atmosphere was cozy & inviting, but can be a bit noisy. The food was delicious, especially the hummus & fatoosh & baba ganouj. The staff were friendly & attentive, making the whole experience even better. Highly recommend this gem for authentic Lebanese cuisine!
