Franklin's Subs and Suds is located on St-Paul street in Old-Montreal. Delicious "Philly Cheesesteak" submarines are the main attraction. The decor is very comforting, you'll find arcades, beautifully designed graffiti and great ambient music.
Franklin's is described as a lively casual spot with warm, energetic ambiance and retro decor that sets a social mood for a night out or a casual lunch. The smoked meat sandwich, poutine, and Philly cheesesteaks are frequently praised, along with solid burgers and tasty wings, while the drinks and playlists are highlighted as major mood boosters. Service is repeatedly commended for attentiveness and friendliness, with many noting standout bartenders and welcoming hospitality that makes the experience feel personal and easygoing. The vibe is described as sports-friendly and convivial, great for groups, but some reviews mention the space can be loud and not always kid-friendly, with occasional menu items varying in quality such as poutine that can be salty or a sandwich that isn’t as robust as hoped. Taken together the place seems to offer great value, tasty food, and a memorable scene that invites return visits.
5 hockey games, amazing drinks, kick ass tunes, the bartender MacKenzie was amazing, the food was absolute fire. The poutine & Philly cheese steak sandwich were top notch, will never not say this place is amazing.
I had such a great experience at Franklin's Pub, & it was all because of a Jeff. He surprised me with a drink he made just for me, & it was honestly amazing, easily one of the best drinks I've had in a long time. You could tell he really put thought into it, & it showed in every sip.
Beyond the drink itself, Jeff was just genuinely kind, welcoming, & fun to talk to. He made the whole experience feel personal, not rushed or transactional. It's people like him who make you want to come back to a place again & again.
If you're at Franklin's Pub, make sure you stop by the bar & say hi to Jeff. He truly makes the place better.
love everything about this place. the atmosphere, the decoration, the music food, drinks etc is just impeccable.
perfect for a casual date night or a group thing, Franklin's got you.

I had high expectations when entering this establishment. I saw the reviews, photos & I was excited to try this place. Before this place, I tried Lester's Deli & Schwartz.
The service was good. She was nice & promptly helped us. Nothing much to say but she was nice.
Ordered the smoked meat sandwich, poutine & a hot dog wiz cheese. The smoked meat sandwich was a big surprise but not in a good way. I was told that they switched their smoked meat(resource) from a different a place. When I asked my waitress when did they made the changes she said today, which is December 21st.
The meat wasn't red like the other places but I couldn't taste anything that was smoked meat. I thought it was roast beef but it really wasn't good at all.
Poutine was average. Cheese curd wasn't squeaky & it didn't have much of a chew. hot dog was average, but it was cheap. I think the hot dog is for eating to fill that to enjoy the taste.
I don't know if she was being serious that they changed their smoked meat that day. I hope she wasn't messing with me.
I think the food might taste better if you are drunk or a bit tipsy. I don't drink unfortunately so I cannot see if that would be the case. Maybe it was a bad night, maybe something changed within the business. But it was disappointing that night & my review is based on that night.
Food & drinks were awesome & our server Theo was great as well really liked the set up, food & drinks came out pretty quick as well. Had the smoke meat sandwich that was hot & fresh & my wife had a poutine that she thoroughly liked, also had a the bloody Ceasar so good had to have two!
Best place to watch the ballgame. Best drinks & amazing atmosphere. Poutine was amazing but so were the cocktails. A great place to have fun & meet amazing people!!

Jeff was excellent he attended to me right away when I answered the restaurant. He greeted me with a warm smile & asked if I would like to have a drink. I was giving a glass of water since I don't drink alcohol. I asked about the extras on the menu, he went into great detail about the tasting texture of all the food. Coming from Nova Scotia I've never been to a place like this before. Feels tropical it feels like I'm in Hawaii.
Franklin's is one of the only restaurants in Montreal where you can eat at a wallet-friendly price. That alone gives it a lot of value. Straying away from the bourgeoise aesthetic of the old port restaurants, Franklins presents itself as the sort of casual bar/restaurant you might find along on St. Denis. They claim to have the best philly cheesesteaks in Montreal. There isn't much competition in this ring, but comparing to philly cheesesteaks I've had elsewhere, this is actually probably a valid claim. They definitely do the sandwich justice. The server was an exceptional bartender, my party was in agreement that the drinks exceeded the food in quality.
We loved Franklin's so much we went twice during our 5-day stay! Tristan was amazing, funny, kind, & gave great recommendations. The drinks were top notch & the poutine was delicious. Such a good time every visit!
What a spot! Had lunch here & it was SO tasty! Our waiter was awesome, really helpful & so friendly. The smoked meat sandwich was amazing & SOOOO much meat, the portions were not small. The spot is a bit quirky but so relaxed; I cannot recommend the place enough. 100 dollars for some great food & drinks inc tax; what's not to like?!
