My friends & I were visiting from out of town & were so happy to stumble across this gem of an establishment! When you come to Canada, you want poutine. If you want poutine, you'll wanna come here. We enjoyed every bit of it, along with our mules (made with bitters to our pleasant surprise). We also loved our bartender, Tim. He was very charming & made us feel extremely welcome! Franklin's in Old Port, Montreal, is a must-visit! I tried their fried chicken burger, & it was delicious. Paired it with a milkshake & crispy fries. Great vibe with hockey on TV - perfect for hanging out with friends. I'll be back for sure!View more

I've got to give this 5 stars even though it's probably a 3.5/4 at present. The reason I am giving 5 stars is to counteract some of the low-starred reviews which seem spiteful or to have unrealistic expectations. Here's why:
This is a very, very good sandwich of beef, onion, & cheese sauce on a soft "hoagie"-style roll. It is very well-prepared, very tasty, & the price is more than fair. I have had hundreds, if not thousands, of sandwiches in this city I enjoyed less than that. So I have to call it like I see it.
Service was good but the decor is nightmarish. Bro, it ain't working, bro. When people start their experience in your restaurant by feeling like they're taken some bad acid they're going to be less predisposed to leave you good reviews. It's 101, bro.View more
