If you decide to try Chinese food at this place, the food will be a pleasant surprise, & the portions are generous. Unfortunately, the whole experience is severely affected by the staff's service: you have to wait a long time just to place your order & again to receive it. To make matters worse, their attitude about how much tip you give leaves a bitter taste at the end of your visit.
Very disappointing experience at Maison Foo Lam.
Food was okay, but the service ruined everything. It took a long time just to take our order even though the place wasn't busy.
The worst part was at payment-after I added a tip manually, the cashier immediately called it out & said it was incorrect. That felt rude & uncomfortable. Tipping is not mandatory, & being pressured like that is unacceptable.
I actually intended to tip more, but after that interaction, it completely changed the experience.
Not coming back, & wouldn't recommend.

The food was fine, nothing memorable-but the service was off from the start. We waited too long just to order, even though it wasn't busy.
What crossed the line was at checkout. I entered a tip manually, & the cashier immediately questioned it & said it was wrong. That felt unnecessary & honestly, disrespectful. Tipping is optional, not something to be policed in front of customers.
It completely killed the mood. Definitely won't be coming back. Conclusion:, you lost a recurrent customers over 3 dollars.

I've gone here with colleagues several times for lunch, today was the last time. The place keeps getting filthier & the waitress (same server each time, I think she's the owner) is so unpleasant & rude. I left a $2 tip to reflect the service received, & I feel even that amount was being generous. She insisted on a minimum even after I told her the service was poor. Why have a restaurant if you hate people? Also, maybe take a mop to the joint...
Food was great as usual. I forgot to tip-not used to the pos machine- the cashier didnt say anything & handed my bill to a male server, who took me to my table & said "tip". If the cashier had commented on it, I would have apologized on the spot & would have added tip. It was an honest mistake, didnt understand the reason why she made the payment go through & give our bill to another server who went to my table in front of other people to comment on this. I personally went up to the counter, & made another payment with only tip. Made me very uncomfortable + my teacup had several unwashed blots. Tried to ask someone however nobody took notice of me. I went to the counter to ask. The food is GREAT . No complaints, really good. Shame, it was my go to place for a big brunch . It was the first time ive felt this much hostility.
Service was fast, food was great. Our waitress was not very friendly to our group (I observed that she was much more friendly to the older groups). We took our son, daughter & her friends for dinner & she was abrupt & not too friendly to the one who was ordering... almost scolding her for asking for tea because they "are young" (her words) & she had already given water.... I guess she missed the fact there were at least two older people in the party....Another server was much more friendly & attentive to our needs. It would be nice to be served & not judged first. We would have given a bigger tip if not for that.
La nourriture est bonne. C'est pratique d'avoir du stationnement. Les prix sont raisonnables. Le service est pourri. Il y avait seulement une seule serveuse. La serveuse ne me laissait pas partir si je ne donnais pas minimum 20$ de tips. J'ai mangé pour 130$. Elle me dit de retirer de l'argent dans sa machine ATM . Elle dit ça coûte seulement 3$ de frais. Elle est folle. Mes 3 enfants étaient complètement bouleversés. J'ai jamais vu ça. Je vous suggère d'acheter pour emporter à la place. Elle ne comprend pas que tu donnes le pourboire en fonction du service & non pas ce qu'elle décide. Quelle femme déplaisante & pas professionnelle. Tout le personnel devrait avoir un cours service à la clientèle .
Food was not great. The restaurant is not busy but the rest of the food was served about 40mins. One of the server is not polite because we did not give tip & was demanding & making a scene over it. Not going back here.
Horrendous customer service. Plates & chopsticks came dirty & greasy. Bathrooms were disgusting. Kitchen & dining area were extremely unsanitary. Food wasn't great, nothing special. Waiter who looked like the owner took the order, was inattentive, rude & wouldn't make eye contact. They did not bring water or condiments which we had to ask for. We were disappointed with the overall experience as the food wasn't great & the service was terrible. We paid for the 80$ tab (which was for 3 dishes = ~22$/dish) which was quite expensive for what it was (rice & noodles) & chose not to leave a tip. The lady at the register then began to yell at us saying that we were required to tip & started yelling to call over her coworker & began to threaten us. She said that she was going to charge us separately for the tip & that we had to pay again. She proceeded to make a huge scene calling the owner & continuing to insist that we had to tip when we calmly explained that the tip was optional & would have been more than happy to give one had we have enjoyed the experience. We generally always tip generously but decided not to as the overall experience was really not enjoyable. Would not recommend at all.
