It has an old store front, but is bustling inside with lively atmosphere. There is a "tasting menu", but it really isn't just giving the server a budget (minimum $70 per person) & letting them choose dishes for you. If you're not familiar with Japanese food, this might be the way to go, otherwise it's pretty easy to figure out what you might want to eat. Most of the dishes are quite small, & can be shared by two people. We ordered 9 for 2 adults & 2 kids under 10 & it was just enough. The food was all well-prepared & presented & tasty. My favourite dish was the duck. It was tender & had a nice char. It's also nice to see fresh wasabi at a restaurant instead of horseradish. The servers were very friendly & described each dish, providing recommendations when necessary. If you're expecting to be full, come prepared to spend, but if you want a fun spot with good food & drinks, check this place out. Also, there is a speakeasy-style bar (sans Soleil) attached if you want to continue the evening without having to go far.View more
I almost don't want to post this review because I don't want too many folks knowing how truly incredible this gem is. TL;DR: Order sake or Champagne & ask for help if you need it. Sea Urchin Mousse, Miso-Aged Duck, Udon Noodles, save room for dessert. Nightcaps at the bar downstairs if it's not too busy. Two of us, no reservation, Monday night. Seated quickly at the bar & then had to take a good 10 minutes to study the beverage menu. The wines are thoughtfully curated with lots of natural, biodynamic & organic selections. Sake & soju selection is thorough & includes a primer of the styles you might not be familiar with. We selected a bottle of Champagne that would carry us through the flavors of dinner & settled on the mousse à l'oursin, légume ohitashi, canard veilli, & the tantan udon. The sea urchin mousse with shrimp chips arrived first & were perfectly light & crispy with much more subtlety of flavor than I usually expect from uni. The vegetables were Swiss chard & cherry tomatoes in a savory broth, cut into perfectly bite sized pieces. Again, strong flavors perfectly tamed into working brilliantly with each other. When the duck arrived I stared at it for a good 30 seconds before I said anything & it's not an exaggeration when I say the taste is nothing short of revelatory. The charred fat cap melted in the same way the gorgeously thin slices of breast did for a bite that was a legitimate journey through fat, the savory miso, & the smallest bitterness of char. I want duck to be this perfect all of the time. It was halfway through the duck when I realized we still ordered noodles & they arrived drizzled with chili crisp. By far the richest of what we ordered, the small bits of nori over top as well as the remnants of our earlier dishes cut the weight of the sauce. Thankfully there were only two options for dessert & we ordered the brownie with a red miso caramel. Beautifully executed it was the perfect sweet bite to finish before we headed downstairs for a nightcap at the very sexy Sans Soleil. I was pretty high on vibes & champagne so details are light at this point but my cocktail was delicious & the orange wine my date had was tasty. All in all one of my top 5 meals ever & I can't wait to come back. No notes.View more
Came here for a date night while we were in Montreal. My partner chose it based on the high google reviews. I liked that the interior was so unique, & we were seated very quickly. Our server came to take our drink & food order in a decent amount of time, & our first two dishes (legume ohitashi & onsen tamago) came out very fast. & then we sat there for a good 30 minutes with no food in front of us & our server not checking in. I started to get confused & annoyed when the table beside us received their uni cream & shrimp chips 5 minutes after they had ordered, while we were still waiting for ours. We had to flag our server down to ask what was happening, & my partner reminded her of the dishes we had ordered. She scrambled to find her words for a bit & then explained that because we had ordered the sashimi platter with the temaki add on, our other dishes would be served after the platter as was their "policy" (this is blatantly untrue as the table beside us had ordered the sashimi platter with the temaki add on as well & their dishes came in the order they placed them). I wouldn't have minded if she had told us she forgot some of the dishes we had ordered instead of lying. I would've given the atmosphere a higher score, but there was a group of drunk people who came in & sat behind us who did not control their volume (yelling extremely loudly at each other) & weren't asked to, despite it interrupting other's conversations & detracting from the experiences of the tables around them. The food was tasty & we had a few stand out dishes (the uni cream shrimp chips & the aged white miso duck were excellent), & the pricing was fair. Overall the experience could've been better, but this is a decent place to get Japanese food in Montreal.View more
Great service but it didn't make up for our disappointment with the food. We ordered the tasting menu & got a tomato & greens salad which was ok, nothing special. The duck was over cooked & not salty at all. But to make up for the unseasoned duck, the next dish was the cold soba noodles in the saltiest sauce. There wasn't much else in that dish you could enjoy anyways, the soba texture was off & the toppings didn't add anything in terms of flavor or texture. Finally we got the sashimi, which was ok. I've had fresher & better texture sashimi elsewhere. The rice at the bottom of the sashimi bowl was way over seasoned with vinegar & it was also overcooked. It felt like a gimmick to me. You are seated at the bar where you can see the chefs preparing the dishes meticulously & using garnish tweezers which looks fancy but unfortunately, good presentation can't make something taste better. Hope you will improve your menu & adjust the seasoning level on the dishes.View more
Wonderful weeknight experience!! Great service, music & atmosphere. We came as two for a weeknight dinner & we loved it. We were recommended the duck, the chirashi sushi, the albacore tuna tataki & the grilled vegetable root salad & they were all absolutely fantastic. Our standout goes out to the duck which was really incredible. Big thank you to all the team & definitely coming back!!View more
Reallly unique flavours. Super moist & juicy duck. Would also recommend the uni cream chipsView more
I've been eager to try Fleurs & Cadeaux for some time, & it definitely lived up to my expectations. We began with the onsen egg, followed by the Nanban chicken with squid ink sauce, the grilled miso aged duck & the chirashi bowl. We finished with the matcha crème caramel. Every dish was delicious, with the chicken being our favorite (best fried chicken I had in my life!!).View more
Love this place. The cocktails are always very delicious (inspired Japanese flavors). & there aged duck is the number one on my list... I will always come back for this plate. Very nice place to date. I highly recommended to sit in front the grill. You could see how they cook all the kushiyaki.View more
My friends & I managed to reserve a table for five people to celebrate one of their birthday! Very accessible from the metro, short walk which was perfect because it was windy that day! The staff were helpful & polite, not always easy to flag down but very helpful. The food was for the most part incredible! I only ordered the vegetarian dishes, a can of hibiscus juice made in Montreal, & a slice of Yuzu lemon pie:) It was about 54$ total which is pricey considering the portions. I was however very full (i dont eat much anyway). My other four friends all ordered several dishes & shared them, overall about 45-65$ ranging as some did get desserts & drinks. It is recommended to buy several plates & to share & they did like it! Though the portions are very small to share. The food is however amazing, the vegetarian foods i ordered were perfect (soup is a little salty). The tofu dish with rice was truly splendid & very filling, i would recommend that. My friends liked the duck & overall liked the dishes & did not have much else to add! Nice atmosphere & decor, welcoming & you can take some nice pictures!View more

Very unique japanese reataurant. There were some sushi & sashimis on the menu, but I opted to go with items I didn't usually see on typical Japanese menus. First off, I went through the wrong door, the side door instead of the front door. Not sure how I missed it. I saw the chinese words over the main door & didn't think that it was the right restaurant. The waitstaff was nice enough not to make me go through the front door again. My waitress was so warm & friendly. Went through some recommendations. I ended up getting the recommended grilled miso aged duck. I got the marinated veggies, & chicken karage. I topped it all of with creme caramel au matcha. The duck was so well executed. Perfectly charred with a thin black layer on the fat side of the duck. You can taste the smokiness from the char. The chef timestakingly grilling each duck in front of the bar crowd. The chicken karage was delicious. Juicy & full of flavor. The white dipping sauce was a good compliment. The highlight of the night had to be the dessert. I was very full after my 3 small plates & a drink, but was able to finish this pudding like dessert with ease. It was light & not too sweet. The match flavor did come through but did not overpower. The sweetened strawberries complemented the dessert well. Service was great my water was never empty for more than 10 seconds. I'd like to try their sashimi next time. Or tuna tataki. The chefs really take their time dressing each dish. Really enjoyed the experience & the food.View more

my second time here, & the food & the ambiance are great!! You can't go wrong with this place. The fried chicken, albacore tataki, & miso duck were great! We were not very happy with the service due to our waiter's attitude but overall, I'd recommend this place!View more
Wow, this place never dissapoints. The duck is one if the best dishes in the city , hands down. ( see photo)View more
Fleurs & Cadeaux was on my hit list for a while & I finally got to try it. The atmosphere was cozy & the place was quite popping for a Wednesday night. I can be a little picky with my wine & I can honestly say that out waiter went above & beyond to make sure I got the perfect wine for my palate. He brought over quite a number of bottles that fit my criteria for me to sample & pick from. We got the tasting menu & I loved how they curated it specially for us. We started with shrimp chips & a sea urchin aioli, then had an albacore tataki & a braised duck in white miso sauce , which were outstanding. After that, we got a fried chicken dish, & a dish with grilled vegetables, but the star dish was certainly the sushi style platter. There's a cute speak easy beneath the restaurant with good & reasonably cocktails, I especially liked the ones with Japanese whiskey, it was just the perfect way to end the evening.View more
Pork, roasted duck, tartare, everything was good! We took the tasting menu where you get the chance to try a little bit of everything. On top of that, they have really good wine. I strongly recommend the place if you're craving Asian food!View more
Hey guys!
Place was recommended by a co-worker, & we were not disappointed. The atmosphere was cozy yet vibrant. The ''Japanese cuisine'' was well mastered with a nice splash of modernism. The duck, the albacore & the oursin were just perfect. Definitely will go back......not soon enough. Cheers,
The food is fresh & tasty. We had the chicken & duck which were perfectly cooked & grilled. The fish platter is also super fresh. Note that this is not traditional sushi; the rice is different & you build the sushi yourself. However, the soy sauce was imported directly from Japan & the dish tasted amazing. It is on the pricier side for sure.View more
10/10 spot in Montreal for incredible Japanese. The way the restaurant is set up is fantastic as most seating is "bar" seating, authentically Japanese, so you can watch the staff prepare certain dishes (we got lucky & were sat right in front of the sushi counter). Excellent ambiance from the second you walk in & great music. As for the food, I have no words. The chirashi sushi was phenomenal - the fish was so fresh & tender with impeccable taste. Was so nice to see the wasabi be freshly prepared to order for each dish which impressed us. The aged duck was absolutely mouthwatering & would highly recommend. However, surprisingly to us, the star of the night was the fried chicken. I don't even know where to begin in describing the dish so all I will say is it is a *must* order. Plus we were pleasantly surprised by the portion size! We love fried chicken & this was hands down the best fried chicken either of us had ever tried. We'll be going back just for the chicken. Can't praise it enough. Service was good but a bit slow, although I think this is intentional from the restaurant so you can get a full experience. There was a bit of a hiccup where we didn't get one of our dishes but our server was a pro & took care of it immediately & made sure the issue was rectified & comped which we felt was super nice. Overall a truly hidden gem in Montreal that merits all of the 5 star reviews it has amassed. Cannot wait to go back asap & also check out Sans Soleil in the basement.View more
FOOD. GOOD. In all seriousness, every single item we had on Fleurs & Cadeaux's menu showed great attention to detail, with some unique fusion of savoury flavours. Everything was a highlight in its own regard. Nothing missed, even slightly. As such, I highly recommend the soy-based fried chicken, as well as the swordfish, tuna & salmon sashimi. The tofu, duck, & braised pork were also unparalleled dishes. To finish, although I consider their Crème Brûlée to have more so the consistency of a Crème Caramel (thicker), the combination of matcha & fresh blueberries made it an exquisite dessert. Also, honorable mention to the Yuné cocktail. Bang for your buck.View more
The aged duck here is amazing. Small portions but of high quality. Recommend getting several dishes to share.View more
Excellent food & atmosphere. The miso duck is exquisite. Great cocktails. A must for lovers of Japanese food
All the food & drinks we had were so good. Sat at the bar in front of the grill which was a cool view to see everything was cooked. We had the miso duck, flank steak, udon & tataki between 2 of us. Everything was amazing, so fresh & delicious. We will definitely be back when we are in Montreal again.
The duck were amazing!! Amazing ambiance & service was amazing! Thank you!
My second time going there with my girlfriend. It's an unreal experience every time. The staff are so nice & the food is some of the best in the city. Can't recommend enough. It's such & honest & unpretentious place. The duck blows your mind & that creme brulee....WOW!!1
Loved the ambiance of the restaurant - The fried chicken, duck, & udon noodles were delicious.
A place like no one in town. Great food, a beautiful saké list & a vibe. Chirashi sushi & duck are a most.
Everything about this place is so good. Definitely worth the price. The chirashi was immaculate & the duck was one of the best things I've ever tasted. Can't wait to go back.
The food is spectacular! I recommend the duck, steak, & fried chicken.
