Great food, must love fish ! Seating is mostly around the bar where they prepare food. Pricing is affordable. Great wine list & great ambiance. You have to male réservations in advance its quite popular.View more
A unique dining experience! The building has a charming vintage feel, & part of the kitchen is right in the middle of the restaurant, giving it an energetic, interactive vibe. We sat at the bar & loved watching the action unfold. We ordered the chicken nanban, the temaki sushi, & the aged miso duck dish. All were delicious, but the chicken was definitely the standout for me. The bathroom layout is a bit awkward, but it's a minor detail. Overall, I'd definitely come back again!View more
This was our first trip to Montreal & this was our favorite restaurant on the trip. We had the tasting menu & the food was great all around. The sashimi with the lemony sauce & the duck breast were my favorites. We also had some gin cocktails that were really good.
The atmosphere is cool & we were able to see some of the cooking & preparation of sashimi from our place at the bar.
Overall we really enjoyed it & would definitely recommend!View more
Love this spot. Highly recommend for a date night - sitting at the bar & watching the magic happen. The food is delicious & so worth the price. The atmosphere is great & the service is always very kind & attentive. The bar downstairs is also a very fun time to dance the night away when you're done eating.View more
Absolutely incredible. The ambiance is fantastic. We loved sitting at the bar as it overlooks several food stations, so we got to watch some of our dishes being prepared. The food was absurdly delicious. Every dish that arrived became our new favourite. The stars of the show were the Chinese broccoli, the Tataki, & the miso duck, but honestly, everything was so delicious. Our waiter, who was also the bartender, was incredibly sweet & made the best cocktails. He even surprised us with a little candle on our dessert for our anniversary! So fantastic! We will be coming back to try the rest of the menu!View more
View more
Amazing food, sake & vibes - sat at bar counter as party of 2 & thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. Fresh sashimi, great spicy tan tan noodles, & the fried chicken nanban was spectacular would absolutely come back!View more
View more
Fleurs & Cadeaux came highly recommended, & it easily lived up to my expectations! My wife & I arrived 40 minutes before our reservation time, nevertheless they were very gracious & found us a place to sit. It's good fun to be at the bar & watch as the chefs skilfully put your meal together. The fish was amazingly fresh & beautifully arranged. The highpoint of the meal was the delicious Tataki D'Albacore & the Canard Vieilli Au Miso Blanc. Fleurs & Cadeaux has a cool laid-back atmosphere, the service is amazing & the food is great. My only complaint is that some of the dishes had small chips on them, (see photos), which is a bit of a downer. Nevertheless, we had an amazing time & an excellent meal. Check out the hidden bar in the basement!View more
Une belle soirée Merci Manon & PierreView more
Not a good experience. All the power to the chefs out in the bar they did a fantastic job I can see that the tataki was good & all the cold items. Holy mother of god did they ever drop the ball with their hot items. Terrible ramen dish, terrible bavette (skirt steak nearly raw & just terribly done), chicken karage was sent back because it died in the window. I spent $200 here & I will for sure never go back. There is a standard that everyone should uphold when spending money at a restaurant, the server was very kind & understanding of my requests but unfortunately severely lacked because I can tell food was "dying" in the pickup window/expo. They need to rethink their specials & stick to less advantageous items, I'm sorry but with the service & the performance of your hot kitchen, you don't have what it takes to be rated. I wish I had my bill comp'd at least 50% but the last few dishes were so bad bad that I left them, paid & left quick. Disappointing.View more
This is a place that's easy to pass by unless you know it's a restaurant. It has an old store front, but is bustling inside with lively atmosphere. There is a "tasting menu", but it really isn't just giving the server a budget (minimum $70 per person) & letting them choose dishes for you. If you're not familiar with Japanese food, this might be the way to go, otherwise it's pretty easy to figure out what you might want to eat. Most of the dishes are quite small, & can be shared by two people. We ordered 9 for 2 adults & 2 kids under 10 & it was just enough. The food was all well-prepared & presented & tasty. My favourite dish was the duck. It was tender & had a nice char. It's also nice to see fresh wasabi at a restaurant instead of horseradish. The servers were very friendly & described each dish, providing recommendations when necessary. If you're expecting to be full, come prepared to spend, but if you want a fun spot with good food & drinks, check this place out. Also, there is a speakeasy-style bar (sans Soleil) attached if you want to continue the evening without having to go far.View more
I almost don't want to post this review because I don't want too many folks knowing how truly incredible this gem is. TL;DR: Order sake or Champagne & ask for help if you need it. Sea Urchin Mousse, Miso-Aged Duck, Udon Noodles, save room for dessert. Nightcaps at the bar downstairs if it's not too busy. Two of us, no reservation, Monday night. Seated quickly at the bar & then had to take a good 10 minutes to study the beverage menu. The wines are thoughtfully curated with lots of natural, biodynamic & organic selections. Sake & soju selection is thorough & includes a primer of the styles you might not be familiar with. We selected a bottle of Champagne that would carry us through the flavors of dinner & settled on the mousse à l'oursin, légume ohitashi, canard veilli, & the tantan udon. The sea urchin mousse with shrimp chips arrived first & were perfectly light & crispy with much more subtlety of flavor than I usually expect from uni. The vegetables were Swiss chard & cherry tomatoes in a savory broth, cut into perfectly bite sized pieces. Again, strong flavors perfectly tamed into working brilliantly with each other. When the duck arrived I stared at it for a good 30 seconds before I said anything & it's not an exaggeration when I say the taste is nothing short of revelatory. The charred fat cap melted in the same way the gorgeously thin slices of breast did for a bite that was a legitimate journey through fat, the savory miso, & the smallest bitterness of char. I want duck to be this perfect all of the time. It was halfway through the duck when I realized we still ordered noodles & they arrived drizzled with chili crisp. By far the richest of what we ordered, the small bits of nori over top as well as the remnants of our earlier dishes cut the weight of the sauce. Thankfully there were only two options for dessert & we ordered the brownie with a red miso caramel. Beautifully executed it was the perfect sweet bite to finish before we headed downstairs for a nightcap at the very sexy Sans Soleil. I was pretty high on vibes & champagne so details are light at this point but my cocktail was delicious & the orange wine my date had was tasty. All in all one of my top 5 meals ever & I can't wait to come back. No notes.View more
Great variety of sake, refined Japanese cuisine, & absolutely delicious! The open kitchen at the bar counter is a fun touch. One of the best restaurants around!View more
Great service but it didn't make up for our disappointment with the food. We ordered the tasting menu & got a tomato & greens salad which was ok, nothing special. The duck was over cooked & not salty at all. But to make up for the unseasoned duck, the next dish was the cold soba noodles in the saltiest sauce. There wasn't much else in that dish you could enjoy anyways, the soba texture was off & the toppings didn't add anything in terms of flavor or texture. Finally we got the sashimi, which was ok. I've had fresher & better texture sashimi elsewhere. The rice at the bottom of the sashimi bowl was way over seasoned with vinegar & it was also overcooked. It felt like a gimmick to me. You are seated at the bar where you can see the chefs preparing the dishes meticulously & using garnish tweezers which looks fancy but unfortunately, good presentation can't make something taste better. Hope you will improve your menu & adjust the seasoning level on the dishes.View more
The food was phenomenal! Albacore tataki & lamb Ramen were highlights, & drinks were great as well. Unfortunate that tables for 2 don't exist, but bar wasn't too crowded & atmosphere was otherwise lovely. Would absolutely return.View more
Quel ravissement! View more
Not impressed with the food at all! Portions are quite small & the flavours do not make up for it. The venue is a cool & unique one. The service was the bare minimum with poor recommendations. For this high price point, I would not recommend.View more
Superbe ambiance! View more
I have been to this restaurant several times during the past year. On previous occasions I would have given them a 5 star rating for the service & food. This time I cannot with good conscience do the same. The food is excellent & our server was great. Beware that there are a couple of seats around the bar & cooking stations & take away from the food & service. These seats make you feel like you are eating at a casse croute. They seated us behind a screen. I have sat where there was at least a plexiglass where you can see what is happening but these 2 seats for. Dinner that is between 260-300$ is not acceptable.View more
This place is soooo good!! The food, service, vibes are all amazing. The urchin mousse is honestly a must. Same with the tofu & rice dish. The yuzu tart is amazing!! Blew me away. The service is very friendly & attentive. For a reservation of 2 people, you will be seated at the bar. Good options for pescatarians. We got a reservation day-of.View more
Very unique japanese reataurant. There were some sushi & sashimis on the menu, but I opted to go with items I didn't usually see on typical Japanese menus. First off, I went through the wrong door, the side door instead of the front door. Not sure how I missed it. I saw the chinese words over the main door & didn't think that it was the right restaurant. The waitstaff was nice enough not to make me go through the front door again. My waitress was so warm & friendly. Went through some recommendations. I ended up getting the recommended grilled miso aged duck. I got the marinated veggies, & chicken karage. I topped it all of with creme caramel au matcha. The duck was so well executed. Perfectly charred with a thin black layer on the fat side of the duck. You can taste the smokiness from the char. The chef timestakingly grilling each duck in front of the bar crowd. The chicken karage was delicious. Juicy & full of flavor. The white dipping sauce was a good compliment. The highlight of the night had to be the dessert. I was very full after my 3 small plates & a drink, but was able to finish this pudding like dessert with ease. It was light & not too sweet. The match flavor did come through but did not overpower. The sweetened strawberries complemented the dessert well. Service was great my water was never empty for more than 10 seconds. I'd like to try their sashimi next time. Or tuna tataki. The chefs really take their time dressing each dish. Really enjoyed the experience & the food.View more
It was awesome to sit at the bar & watch the chef's create, however the place was relatively busy & so service was really poor & the food arrived cold. Unfortunate since it's a really cool spot!View more
View more
View more
This basement bar presents a fun urban experience. No visible front, when you come to this place you'll recognize it from a door with a lineup at the side of a random lot. Gives it a somewhat underground feel to it, pun intended. There is no cover which is great. The place was visibly never fully renovated to be a bar, so it still has the layout of a commercial basement. It does offer some seating around the sides & the back room which is nice. It gets loud but you can still hold a conversation if you are trying to. The bartenders are skilled at their craft. Music here is a bit unconventional but very fun to dance to. Overall this place has a different but enjoyable vibe.
