Jérôme Ferrer - Europea utilizes sophisticated culinary techniques to reinterpret traditional French foundations through a contemporary lens. The menu emphasizes precision, featuring expertly prepared tartare selections that highlight high-quality raw proteins paired with carefully balanced garnishes. Plant-forward preparations cater to vegetarian preferences by focusing on seasonal produce and complex flavor profiles rather than simple meat substitutes. Culinary execution involves rigorous attention to texture and plating, ensuring that each component contributes to a cohesive sensory experience. The environment functions as a structured stage for these detailed plates, maintaining a focused atmosphere where the ingredients remain the primary point of interest for guests. Every dish reflects an analytical approach to classic flavors and modern preparation methods, resulting in a distinct menu that prioritizes technical mastery and ingredient integrity above all else.

It was definitely not Michelin star worthy. Have eaten in many star restaurants in Paris, NYC, Vegas, HK, etc. This star is not well deserved. If this is your first star restaurant then you might be awed but it is not comparable to many other 1 stars by far. The desserts were definitely not good & it's a very dairy based tasting menu so if you can't take fat heavy cream don't eat here or you're in for a long bathroom visit.
The worst part of the meal was the awful service. I have never been served by a waiter who spills water on guests & it was not just one time, & drops a spoon down in front of me instead of placing it down. The staff rush & run around like it was a fast food joint. We had 6 for testing menu, spent $2000+ & around the same the night before at Dorsia but the experience was so much better. We will never be back to this place & Jerome should know some of his staff are not well trained enough for his star.
Merci.
My wife & I had an amazing dinner here. We enjoyed our trip to Montreal & dinner here was a great way to end the trip. It is a large restaurant & it is fun to see how well it is run.
Our experience at La Grande Table Gastronomique par Jérôme Ferrer was nothing short of spectacular & the perfect way to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. It was truly one of the most memorable dining experiences we have ever had.
From beginning to end, every detail was thoughtfully & beaut1ifully executed. The food was exquisite - inventive, beautifully balanced, & prepared with an extraordinary level of precision. Each course was a work of art, with uniquely creative presentations & unexpected details that made the entire tasting feel like a culinary journey rather than simply a meal. Every dish was as delicious as it was visually stunning.
The service was equally exceptional. Starting with Emily, the hostess, who called to confirm that every detail of our reservation was exactly as we wanted. Her friendly demeanor & professionalism quickly put to rest any concerns I initially had about whether I had chosen the right restaurant for our anniversary, especially after reading some of the negative reviews. But, after speaking with Emily, I knew I had absolutely made the right choice! Then, during dinner, she took my husband & me into the kitchen, where she shared the history of the restaurant & gave us a fascinating glimpse into how it operates behind the scenes. & remarkably, Emily called me the following day to see how we enjoyed our dinner. That level of genuine care & attention is rare & speaks volumes about the hospitality at La Grande Table.
Maya, our primary server, was absolutely lovely. She was warm, sweet, friendly, professional, knowledgeable, & incredibly attentive throughout the entire experience. She anticipated our needs without ever being intrusive & made us feel genuinely welcomed & cared for.
Reynald, our sommelier, was equally outstanding - friendly, professional, attentive, & extremely knowledgeable. The wine service complemented the meal beautifully, & we appreciated the care & expertise that went into each recommendation.
In fact, every member of the staff we encountered was warm, gracious, professional, & attentive. There was a wonderful sense of genuine hospitality, passion, & teamwork throughout the restaurant.
The dining room itself provided the perfect setting: warm, elegant, sophisticated, & intimate without feeling stuffy. Everything came together beautifully - the food, the presentation, the service, the ambiance, & the attention to detail.
Celebrating 25 years of marriage is a milestone we will always cherish, & La Grande Table Gastronomique was absolutely the right choice for such an important occasion. What began with a little uncertainty after reading some of the lower-rated reviews ended with us leaving completely convinced that we had chosen exactly the right place.
An exceptional restaurant, an extraordinary team, & an unforgettable experience. We would return in a heartbeat & cannot recommend La Grande Table Gastronomique highly enough.
A Michelin-starred restaurant guaranteed my son's food was free of his allergens ( milk), then served him Parmesan. I caught it. If I hadn't, we'd have spent the night in the ER.
We have loved Europea for years & came every time we were in Montreal, which is why this was so painful. On August 30 we told the staff about my son's serious allergies (dairy, egg, nuts, shellfish) & were assured his dish was safe. It contained Parmesan, which is dairy. When I flagged it, the manager insisted their Parmesan was'lactose free.' Lactose is a sugar. My son is allergic to casein, the milk protein Parmesan contains. He didn't understand the difference, at a restaurant that guarantees allergy safety.
That wasn't all. Two flies at our first table near the wooden serving board, so we asked to move. In the restroom, the fixture holding the toilet came off the wall & fell to the floor.
When we raised all this, the manager didn't apologize or offer to fix anything. He told us he didn't think they could make us happy, & that we were welcome to leave & he'd book us elsewhere. We'd had only a few small appetizers. We left humiliated, treated as the problem rather than as guests who'd hit real failures.
I say this as someone who loves this place & has spent years in hospitality myself. This fell far below any standard, let alone a Michelin one.
Unfortunately not the experience we were looking for. Having been to the other Michelin star restaurants in Montreal since visiting here we can clearly state that Europea does not deserve to keep its star. Service was spotty at best, food was uninspired & atmosphere was more like a chain restaurant than a Michelin.
We had a really nice experience at **Restaurant Europe** in Montréal. The food was fresh, well prepared & the portions were generous. Everything came out looking great & tasted even better.
What stood out the most was the service. The staff was friendly, attentive & made us feel welcome without constantly hovering around the table. Everything felt relaxed & comfortable.
The restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere, clean & inviting, & it's a good spot whether you're coming for a casual meal or just want to sit down & enjoy some good food.
Overall, very happy with our visit. **Good food, good service & a place we would definitely come back to.**
