The Hermitage Museum in Saint-Petersburg is world famous. Real gourmets also remember the Hermitage (Ermitage) restaurant in Moscow. It is there, at the end of the XIX century, that French chef Lucien Olivier invented his renowned Russian salad.
Ermitage restaurant in Montreal keeps both traditions: the artistic atmosphere of the Saint-Petersburg Museum and the refined cuisine of Moscow famous French restaurant.
Ermitage is widely celebrated as a hidden gem offering an exceptional Eastern European culinary experience that feels both intimate and truly authentic. Guests frequently highlight the high quality of the homemade cuisine, with standout dishes like the tender beef Stroganoff, savory chicken Kiev, and decadent honey cake earning consistent praise for their fresh, delicate flavors. The atmosphere is consistently described as cozy, elegant, and nostalgic, reminiscent of a welcoming home, which makes it a perfect setting for romantic dates, family celebrations, or client entertainment. Beyond the food, the service is frequently noted for being remarkably warm, passionate, and attentive, with staff going above and beyond to ensure every diner feels cared for. With its charming decor, reasonable prices, and genuine hospitality, this restaurant leaves a lasting impression, prompting many to plan return visits immediately.
The best Eastern European restaurant! Our family has been coming here for many years, & it never disappoints. Excellent food, outstanding service, a wonderful atmosphere, & great prices. The quality is always top-notch. Highly recommend!
Discovered this gem on the first day in Montreal. Entered on a rainy day looking for quality food, & was absolutely surprised - great host who patiently explained the menu, really tasty eastern-european food without waiting too long, beautiful museum-style interior. Absolutely 5 stars!
The adjective that describes Ermitage the best is'impeccable' when it comes to cuisine, service, atmoshere & dining experience in general. The menu is composed of the world-famous Eastern European dishes as well as some signature delicacies that will tempt the eye, satisfy the mind & of course, please the palate. What surprised me was that they make things like bread, butter, cottage cheese etc. from scratch, in addition, only highest-quality ingridients are used that contributes to the excellent taste of absolutely any dish. One of the owners who is also a server there is increadibly attentive, friendly & makes one feel that they are their only customer. Interestingly, it's a cosy & high-end place at the same time. All in all, this restaurant provides more than just a fine dining experince considering its stunning interior design, soft background music & plenty of beautuful little details that catch an eye making a strong & unforgettable impression. Highly recommended for any occasion!
Ermitage is a beautiful, quaint spot in an upscale neighborhood serving SPECTACULAR Eastern European food. The atmosphere is quiet, cozy, & feels like home. The place is run by a married couple - she serves tables & he cooks. Both are excellent at what they do. All the food, down to the bread, butter, sour cream & jam for dessert, is completely homemade. If you don't believe me now, you will after your meal! Everything on the menu is scrumptious & portion sizes are perfect. For those unfamiliar with Russian/Ukrainian cuisine, I recommend the Russian Appetizer to start (see attached photo). For mains, consider classics such as Pelmeni (dumplings), Chicken Kiev, Beef Stroganoff, & whatever the server recommends as the nightly special. For dessert, I highly recommend the Blinchiki (crepes, but better!) Medovik (cake), Varenniki (dessert dumplings), & their homemade ice cream. Definitely coming back here ASAP. Priatnogo Appetita (Bon Appetit)!
Ermitage has become our go-to place for many special occasions- anniversaries, birthdays & even a wedding party. Chef Oleg & the staff are consistently attentive, & the décor effortlessly chic. It's the perfect setting for a sophisticated ambiance. The house wine is delightful, & the price is excellent value given the fine-dining feel of the candles, fresh linen & it's European-style décor. I strongly recommend this gem for any form of gathering over a nice meal &/or celebration.
Owners are the most wonderful, kind & helpful people you will ever meet. Delicious upscale Eastern European & European cuisine! I ordered with DOORDASH during quarantine. I live in laval. The food arrived within 20 mins, extremely well packaged - no spills (unlike some other places I had delivered from), everything was warm & just SO GOOD. I got beef stroganoff, the meat was tender & so fresh - you would think we were dining out! 2 Borscht soups (tasty unlike any other), Vareniki (dumplings) with sour cherry filling (you may wanna get more of those! 😉) & vareniki (dumplings) with potatoe filling. The cake Medovik is literally the best one I've had! If I may say: UN VRAI RÉGAL! Ermitage knows how to create a fine dining experience RIGHT in the comfort of your own home! Will definitely be ordering again very soon. Very recommended!!! Please don't miss out on this unforgettable culinary experience 😊😊😊
