What a dessert experience I had! The place was beautiful, the desserts were all nicely laid out. I found the little treats very hard to refuse. Ended up having quite a few niche dessert items. The staff were professional, but the service could be a bit quicker.

Visited Duc de Lorraine & had a very nice experience! The outdoor terrace is definitely better than the indoor seating, especially with the beautiful direct view of Saint Joseph's Oratory. The place is very clean, & the waiters are elegant, welcoming, & always greeting guests with a smile.
The desserts & croissants looked absolutely delicious . we tried the Paris brest dessert & the crème brûlée, both were excellent. A bit on the expensive side, but overall a lovely experience & worth visiting for the atmosphere, pastries, & view.
Elegant & welcoming atmosphere. The pastries & desserts are fresh, delicate, & beautifully made. Everything tastes high quality & authentically French. I had breakfast there with friends & truly enjoyed the experience. Highly recommended!
Food was fantastic & the desserts! We came back the next morning. So many pastry options- our large group tried a variety & enjoyed every single order. For the meal, O had steak & frites- it was delicious! & the shrimp pasta was savory, not over-the-top with sauce, & loved that none of these dishes were too salty like restaurants I've encountered in California. Charli (not sure if I spelled his name correctly), our server, who works at night was fantastic & hilarious! He managed several tables & our large 15 people party well! Our group enjoyed our time very much & had a wonderful, lovely dinner.
Overrated cafe with poor quality desserts & drinks
Stopped by here because of all the great reviews & simply did not understand the hype. The desserts looked unpolished & tasted mediocre. Had the highly recommended mille feuille & the custard had an intense egg taste, whatever the dessert is topped with tasted like a very sugary fondue layer, & it didn't feel like the mille feuille was fresh. The plain croissant & the pain au chocolat were pretty good & would be the only things I'd maybe recommend here. Espresso & americano were awful as the beans were burnt, the price is insane for that kind of quality. Staff were awesome & you can tell they put in a lot of effort to ensure the service is great. However the place was very chaotic as there's no proper guest management/directions, so everyone is trying to figure out how to order takeout & where to go for dine in. Wouldn't bother coming here again, there are so many better french pastry/dessert places in Montreal
Duc de Lorraine is a beautiful Parisian-style pastry shop that offers an amazing selection of high-quality desserts & pastries. We tried a variety including croissants, trompe-l'oeil pastries, & macarons, & everything was visually stunning & delicious.
The almond chocolate croissant was absolutely incredible-soft, smooth, rich, & perfectly chocolaty with a sweet almond flavor that melts in your mouth. The raspberry cheesecake-filled croissant was also very good, with a nice balance of fruity & creamy flavors. The mango trompe-l'oeil pastry was another highlight-creative, fresh, & beautifully presented.
We also tried a selection of macarons, which were tasty & well-made with great texture & flavor variety.
Overall, the quality & presentation are excellent, & the experience feels very premium. The only downside is that the prices are a bit on the expensive side. It would feel even better value if either the portion sizes were slightly larger or the pricing was a bit more affordable.
Still, it's a wonderful place for anyone who loves French pastries & elegant desserts-definitely worth trying at least once.

This is where Duc de Lorraine absolutely shines. The croissants are incredible-perfectly laminated with a golden, flaky exterior & a tender, buttery interior. They are everything a classic French croissant should be.

Nice cozy restaurant but the heating in winter is way too high that at some point we were feeling dizzy. Food was good & so was the dessert but nothing exceptional.
However for such a restaurant the quality of the service is really bad.
I think the owner needs to get properly trained staff who can also understand English. The waiters seem confused all the time & even we changed to French language they seem to have difficulty understanding. The menu is not a big one & yet they made mistake in our order. & I don't understand why it took them forever to bring the dessert (which are already displayed next door) & again they made mistake in the order.
For spending over $350 I would expect much better service from that restaurant.
Overall bit of a disappointment!
Their dessert was yummy, not too sweet! A bit pricey but definitely worth it for the quality. There were so many options to choose from, I would definitely come back to try them!
Today we visited Duc de Lorraine & we absolutely did not like it. We tried two desserts - pear & raspberry. The pear lacked flavor & was completely unremarkable, while the raspberry had some tartness but overall was just okay, nothing impressive. Honestly, everything looks much better than it tastes.
& the CUTLERY - just awful. I've never seen tableware so scratched anywhere before. It was covered in deep scratches & unpleasant even to touch. It's honestly embarrassing. Overall, our expectations were much higher than what we actually received.
Actually really disappointed. First got our reservation wrong, then wanted to place our party of 5 at the bar. Then it took hours before we even got our drinks let alone our food, no exaggeration. The restaurant menu was a good size, quality & tasted very nice but the desserts were small especially for their cost & not as special as I expected. I have had a lot of similar desserts of a better size, price & taste in the city & outskirts. The restaurant space was also very very hot. Extremely uncomfortable especially considering I am 8 months pregnant.

Oh m'y God.
A beautiful & cozy place, the food quality is excellent & delicious. The service is verygood, & their birthday celebrations are truly heartwarming. As for the desserts, they're beyond amazing.
First time visiting. I had the table d'hôte. It said'dessert au choix' but that did not mean I had choice of any dessert on the menu. I had to choose only from 2 items that were offered. Also, I noticed that the price for the pâtisseries individuelles on the menu, were $3 more than if you ordered from the counter.
The calamari & the salmon were delicious but unfortunately, the dessert left a bitter taste in my mouth.
