Double's serves elevated pub fare centered on meticulously prepared smash burgers that highlight high-quality beef and traditional toppings. The kitchen prioritizes comfort food staples, focusing on deep flavors and consistent execution across a menu designed for straightforward, satisfying consumption. Patrons select from a focused list of handhelds and side dishes that emphasize texture and seasoning rather than excessive culinary complexity. The interior maintains an unpretentious atmosphere where the architecture reflects a functional and relaxed dining space. Each burger features a thin, crispy-edged patty paired with fresh ingredients that adhere to classic flavor profiles. Culinary preparations remain rooted in standard pub traditions, ensuring a dependable experience for those seeking hearty meals in a strictly casual setting that avoids unnecessary stylistic embellishments.
Double's is widely celebrated as a must-visit local spot, boasting an electric, classic dive bar atmosphere that makes it perfect for watching sports, playing pool, or simply enjoying a night out with friends. The menu frequently receives high praise, particularly for the standout smash burgers which many consider to be among the best in Montreal, along with delicious onion rings and wings. Visitors consistently highlight the exceptionally friendly, efficient, and welcoming staff who contribute significantly to the lively and fun energy of the space. Whether it is for the great drink specials, the curated music, or the unpretentious homey vibe, the restaurant remains a highly recommended destination for those looking for a consistent and memorable dining experience.
Second time coming, both times seemed over hyped. First time, $15 short cocktails were average in taste but seemed over priced. No food was ordered. Busy & freak storm blew out the lights so visit was cut short. This time there were way fewer patrons but the service was minimally present. I asked for no onions, extra pickles, got onions & no extra pickles. Said I'd order a drink when my burger got there. They didn't bother asking what I wanted to drink anymore (despite only having water there) or how the food was. I was sitting at the bar, in front of the drinks station. At least it was quick & not crazy expensive, but the burger special was pretty average. Also, I'd ask management not to water down the soap & check it's full more frequently. 2/3 bathrooms I used needed it.
Kaylee the bartender gave excellent service. The vibe is super cool. People eating, drinking, playing pool & being cool. If you want to eat here Thursday to Saturday, reserve first.
Great dive bar atmosphere, with even better food. The burger is simple in the best way possible. They don't overcomplicate it with a ton of toppings (patty, cheese, pickles, lettuce, Michigan sauce), nor do they make it inaccessible to picky eaters. The fries may be some of the best I've had at a resto. Even the dessert, which always comes with a sparkler, was great. Highly recommend this place. Can't wait to go back.
Double's is in the running for Montreal's best burger. Its soft & gentle bun holding layers of juicy patties could make a grown man queef. If you're planning on eating there, opt of a table instead of the bar arrangement. Unless you like a snug fit, tables are OP, as you won't have to elbow your neighbours in the face to take a bite pf your burger.
Came here on a Monday night for a friend's birthday. We ordered most of the menu & nothing disappointed! The standouts were definitely the burger & the mozzarella sticks. The cheese pull speaks for itself. The wings & chicken parm were also solid, & the fries were nice & crispy, served with a garlic mayo. When I say the burger is a standout, I don't even mean "for a bar". It's a contender for best burger in Montreal, & when warring against titans like L'Hamburger, MangeDansMonHood, & Chez Simon, you know that means something. The da t that you can get it either Beyond Pattie's is a big deal for all the vegetarians out there too. The venue's appearance is curated to look like your favorite basement dive bar, but everything feels hand-picked & perfect. We ran up a heck of a tab, but we left full & tipsy, with plans to come back ASAP, worth the cost for sure!
It's a shame that the place with possibly the best burger I've ever had has some of the most lax servers & service I've ever had. I was sitting at the bar & after a full 15 minutes I still had not been greeted. I've been a few times & this is often an issue. There was even a client sitting next to me that called over the bartender to ask for something, & they still ignored me. As a fellow industry worker I understand being busy, but with a half-full bar, it's unacceptable to be left waiting for that long, & it's been a common complaint from friends who have gone. I left without even being given a menu. Does not matter how good the food is or who owns a place, service is the most important thing.
It’s always a pleasure to go have a drink or a burger at Doubles! The staff is nice & understanding despite of how busy the bar might get on a Saturday night! 💖 Will definitely go again!
