They've been around for a couple years & I was sold to the idea of a high end restaurant like but it's not. Food's ok, drinks are ok but it's not definitely a fancy place. For a $500 bill I was expecting a bit more. My reservation was not ready upon arrival, washrooms were dirty & they were out of stock of everything -it was literally just beef or fish like ordering in a plane. I didn't appreciate some patrons acting like they owned the place because apparently were acquaintance of someone from the bar arriving in tennis shoes & wearing hats while being loud & tacky. The cake was spectacular but a apart from that a bit mid tbh.
Disappointing experience overall. There was more stuff than customers yet they were busy walking around for nothing.
Upon arrival we weren't given menu right away. & when we can't wait any longer for our drink order we had to flash the busboy for wine. Afterwards we were served WARM white wine by the so called sommelier. What kind of Michelin restaurant serve unrefrigerated hot storage room temperature white wine?
The oyster was not fresh. & when we jokingly commented on that they did nothing. The blue fin tuna was saggy. What kind of food standards is that? The fact that the chef would serve that at this calliper is amazing.
When the truffle dish came to the table, the waiter asked have we seen black truffle before. I mean even if you came from small poor town & have never seen it before, you should not assume your customers whom were all dressed full in Hermès & Chanel the same assumption. I'm sorry but that sounded like an insult.
& please, your canned almost melted white asparagus was not worth bragging about. Yes we've seen it.
The steak was lukewarm the most. Not from a good cut yet bland.
I have to say you're very brave to charge people that much for your subpar, unprofessional operation. & the empty dining room says it all.
Dorsia absolutely exceeded expectations. We originally stopped in just for drinks, no plans for a full dinner but despite being a group of six, they were incredibly accommodating & welcomed us without hesitation. What started as a casual stop turned into the best experience of the night.
We began with drinks, & every single one was exceptional beautifully crafted, balanced, & memorable. After taking a look at the menu, most of us couldn't resist & ended up ordering food as well & I'm so glad we did. The dishes were truly outstanding, easily matching the quality of the cocktails.
One standout for me personally was the pickled stuffed olives completely mind-blowing & unexpectedly one of the highlights of the night.
The service elevated everything even further. Our server was kind, attentive, & gave excellent recommendations throughout the evening. But what really made the experience unforgettable was Lucas. He handled our lively, chatty group with ease even as the restaurant quieted down & still managed to provide a personalized & thoughtful experience. He went out of his way to walk my friend through the variety of martinis they offer, which was a really nice touch.
Dorsia delivers on every level drinks, food, & service. What started as a spontaneous visit turned into a night we'll all remember. Definitely a top-tier spot & one I'd highly recommend.
That was a 5 stars experience to me & my friend. We had two drinks, both very good.
We both had steak tartare for starter (hands down the best tartare I've ever had) which was a pretty decent portion. Then we had two plates of pasta: I purposely picked the simplest one: paccheri with tomato sauce, parmesan cheese, pepper & basil, so you can really tell the quality of the ingredients. It was heavenly, the paccheri were cooked to perfection. My friend had a more elaborate pasta (can't remember now) & it was ridiculously good. We had dessert & the bill was 230$, plus I left 22% tip because the staff was amazing: very attentive & professional without being too stiff as you see in some places that confuse'high-end experience' with bloated stiffness & too much form. We felt pampered & looked after, just great. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is also beautifully balanced: we got greeted by a really lovely girl who made us feel immediately at home, & took our coats. The interior design is classy & elegant (& I mean elegant, not douchy-bro-gold-chain'elegant'), soft lights & a pleasant crowd on the younger side. I'm taking my girlfriend next week, absolutely loved it. Definitely came for the name (I love the movie) but stayed for the quality of the food & staff. Thank you guys!
What a disappointment, we tried Dorsia yesterday & all I can think about is how did they end up with a Michelin recommendation. Just to be clear, the food was not awful but not worth the price either. The beef tartare was blend clearly missed seasoning, the cavatelli pasta were way too simple & the star of the night: the filet mignon I wish I took a picture, but basically all they cared about was the presentation so it seemed like the steak was not even left to temper which made it super dry. I'd rather have blood in my plate than a dry steak. Also there was a tiny bit of sauce that just dried on the plate you could nit even scrape it off.
As for the service it was fine, however it seemed like the staff were not communicating to each other, 3 times in the night someone came to take a drink order & 2 minutes later somebody else would come to ask again if we wanted something to drink. Is it a big deal? Of course not but not to the level of a Michelin recommendation.
The restaurant is really beautiful & the ambiance is nice, but honestly for this price point there are much better restaurants in the city.
We came here for my girlfriend's birthday & from the moment we sat down it was an amazing night. Florence gave us amazing service, recommendations, everything. The food was delicious & the drinks hit the spot. Florence made the whole night extremely smooth & memorable. Would definitely come back, especially for special occasions.
Food was outstanding & the service was impeccable. My dinner mate had a'Vesper' & exclaimed it was the best Martini & gentleman's drink he has ever had, right in line with 007's roots.
We had an early 6:15pm dinner seating, & enjoyed the quiet atmosphere one would expect in a fine dining establishment. By the time we departed at 9pm, the temp had picked up, was a bit noisier, & was slightly more in line with a gastro pub, but continuing with the fabulous food, & wonderful drinks. The Tenderloin steak & the lamb was tender & flavourable, but also exactly as our waiter had described. Our waiter was incredibly knowledgeable of the menu, & was able guide us amongst a plethora of wonderful choices.
For any occasion, Dorsia is a superb choice.
I spent $800 on dinner this evening for myself, my father & two kids. The fact that 50% of our party was not of legal drinking age will give you an idea of how much Dorsia charges for dinner. The steak was good… $240 for a 40 oz CDB. Octopus starter was well grilled & seasoned. Mark up on the wine was eye watering. Then, there was the bachelorette party taking place next to us. Cute, but makes you wonder what vibe they're going for at Dorsia. I think they want to appeal to splurgey American tourists who might squeal with delight (that actually did happen tonight!) when they realize how far their dollar goes!
Service was uneven…LONG waits between courses. The servers are young & moderately experienced. You can tell
because they don't have ascendancy over their customers.
The room is really beautiful. I'll give them that.
Lots of guys in ball caps & polo shirts & very young women. Nothing wrong with that if that's the vibe you're looking for. I will probably come back but not sure if it will be top of mind.
Best bar in town! The food is absolutely delicious & the drinks are perfectly made. The service was outstanding. Ryannah & Lucas were amazing with my friend & me, & honestly, every server was incredibly kind. It's the first time I've had such a great experience at a restaurant in Montreal. It's officially my favorite spot in the city. It might be a bit pricey, but I swear it's totally worth it.
Went for a large party birthday (15 people). We were sat immediately but that was really the only smooth part of the evening. We had no less than 5 people serving our table, but drink service took about 25 minutes, & they never came back to ask if we wanted seconds. We had cutlery dropped on us twice, the second time was a dirty butter knife & no attempt to resolve the stained blouse was made. I'm giving some consolation to the fact that we were a large party & therefore things take longer, but when paying $180pp I would expect substantially more service polish. On a positive note, the food was excellent & the space is very well-done, creating a good ambiance. Likely would not return as a result of the poor service.
