Service was bad. We were a party of four. The wait to be seated for the three that arrived first was acceptable, but we had to look for the waitress when the fourth arrived &, even then, it took time before she came to take our orders & she was curt.
We ordered three club sandwiches & one spaghetti. The latter looked suspicious & was tasteless. The former were not triple deckers (menu lacked clarity) & were quite ordinary.
The atmosphere? Was there any? At least, bar the food & the service, the rest was not utterly shocking…
Next time I am at central station, I shall go to any of the other places offering food. I will have to go to a counter to order food, but I trust food will be better & service will better meet my expectations.
In other words, I definitely will avoid Deli Planet.
I don't know why they have different prices for the same item. We ordered one sandwich, & she charged me $17 after tax. However, when we checked the self-service machine, the price after tax was only $14.30. We went back to ask her about it, & the price on the menu was $15 before tax. When we asked why we were charged $17 for the sandwich, she said it was because it was for takeout. So weird.
Anyway, I don't recommend buying food there. 🙁
Delicious food, & the service was super efficient. We received our food within 5 minutes of ordering. It was so good we went back for dinner on our last night in Montreal! The fries are so good & I highly recommend the Goat Cheese Sandwich.
We really enjoyed this restaurant while waiting for our Via train. The service was amazing, drinks were great & we had one of the best smoked meat sandwiches we've ever had
Stopped in at Deli Planet just after 1 p.m. & was pleasantly surprised by how quiet & relaxing it was, even inside Montreal Central Station. I was seated in a cozy area where other diners were enjoying their meals, & the hustle from busy travellers didn't affect my experience at all.
The food was delicious & the portions were huge & tasty. I couldn't eat it all in one sitting! I had soup, a Montreal smoked meat sandwich piled high with meat, fries, coleslaw, & red velvet cake for dessert. Everything was fresh, flavorful, & satisfying.
Tulu, my server, was very attentive & kind to this weary traveller. His warm service made the meal even more enjoyable.
I also took lots of photos of the fun décor - the'Wanted' characters on the walls, old typewriters, & newspapers add such personality to the place. A great spot right inside Montreal Central Station - hearty food, friendly service, & a calm break from the journey.
A quick bite for the sandwich at the central station, price is reasonable & food is good
We had our lunch at Deli Planet. We ordered Maverick Burger, Smoked Meat Sandwich, Goat Cheese Sandwich & Grilled Chicken Breast Fillet from HEROS ONLY special section. Also got Sangria blue & red Flavour & Margarita tequila for myself. Food was tasty & delicious. Had to wait for 15-20 mins which was fine, as they made it fresh. Staffs were super friendly & made sure our family had a great meal. NOTE: For those who don't know, Deli Planet is a full service American style restaurant established in Montreal since 1995. The word Deli Planet is derived from'The Daily Planet', a fictional newspaper appeared in American comic books published by DC Comics, commonly in association with Superman. That's if you see in my pictures, posters of Deli Planet newspaper. Even the dining table is designed with the newspaper advertisement column with different languages. I loved the atmosphere & the presentation of the restaurant. Will definitely visit again once we would be in Montréal in coming months.
We are here twice on our journey & were quite impressed with the quality of the selections & quick service. He chicken ceasar wrap & chèvre sandwich were delicious & there was an impressive array of creative salads we didn't try. If your connection is tight & you need something besides train food, this is perfect. Lots of customers from local office buildings too.
