Korean Fried Chicken, Beer, Soju & Makgeoli** A great atmosphere with a modern Korean bar vibe. Enjoy crispy Korean fried chicken paired with refreshing beer, traditional soju, and makgeoli for the perfect experience.
DaWa Chicken earns praise for generous portions, with many taking home full lunch boxes, and for consistently crispy, juicy fried chicken with a range of tasty sauces; favorites include the honey mustard chicken, rose tteokbokki with cheese, and wings, and combo plates are described as more than enough for two while still delivering bold flavors; the service is often described as friendly, attentive, and thoughtful, and the clean, modern ambiance adds to the experience, though timing can be inconsistent and some reviews note kitchen hours or close times vary; a few dishes like seafood pancake fall short and the option for bone in chicken is missed by some, but the overall impression is that DaWa Chicken offers strong, reliable Korean fried chicken with good value, with many guests planning to return to try more flavors.
Dawa Chicken is excellent - I absolutely love it. The chicken is consistently high quality & always very tasty. It's one of those places you can rely on, & the flavor never disappoints.
The only downside for me is that they don't offer bone-in chicken. I always have to order boneless, which is a bit disappointing, as I really wish they had the option for bone-in or even a whole chicken. They could also at least offer to buy a whole chicken instead of half the half ! At the NDG location, they offer this differently, which I personally prefer.
That said, this location is much closer to me, so it would be far more convenient if they added those options. Hopefully, they'll consider improving this in the future, because overall, I truly enjoy their chicken & order from them often.
Food is good but one time i visited they say kitchen close at 11 another day they say kitchen close at 10 :30 & today the kitchen close at 10 i think they should be more specific on timming .
I recently visited DaWa Chicken in Plateau-Mont-Royal. While there were some definite highlights to the meal, the experience was a bit of a mixed bag due to service speed & one specific dish.
The Good
• Fried Chicken Combo: This was the star of the show! The chicken was perfectly crispy & flavorful. We really enjoyed the variety of sauces & the crunch.
• Korean Rice Cakes (Tteokbokki): These came with fish cakes & a generous layer of melted cheese on top. The texture was great & the flavors were spot on. Highly recommend these two!
The Bad
• Seafood Pancake: This was a major disappointment. It felt like it was rushed on high heat-the outside was overcooked/burnt while the inside remained raw & gooey. It wouldn't hold its shape & just fell apart when touched. Definitely wouldn't recommend ordering this.
The Service
• Wait Time: We waited about 40 minutes for our three courses to arrive. For a casual dinner, that felt significantly too slow, especially considering the kitchen timing issues with the pancake.
Final Verdict: Go for the chicken & the rice cakes, but maybe skip the pancakes & be prepared to wait a while for your food.
Excellent.
A wonderful modern-style Korean restaurant, but they have the major traditional dishes as well. I have to highlight the exceptional quality of the food here, & the consistency of the experience. I've now ordered from or been to Dawa on Mont Royal over a dozen times in the past couple of years & have always been very impressed with everything.
The recipes seem authentic to me, especially the spiciness level of the tteokbokki (if you ask for spicy, they have milder options). It does remind me of the food I had in Korea.
The fried chicken, their signature offering, is really nice & is very different to what you may consider as Western/fast food style fried chicken.

One of the best fried chicken I ever had! It's freshly made with really tasty sauce/marinade. The employees are attentive & professional, the place is very well maintained with exemplary cleanliness. I would come back with great pleasure!
