Dandy operates as a sophisticated bistro that emphasizes the intersection of artisanal culinary techniques and market-driven ingredients. The interior design reflects an industrial aesthetic characterized by high ceilings and expansive windows that illuminate the open dining area. Menu offerings focus on elevated classic dishes, featuring thick-cut sourdough toasts topped with seasonal produce and house-made ricotta. The kitchen consistently utilizes fresh, locally sourced components to construct balanced plates that favor structural simplicity over complex plating. Patrons experience a lively atmosphere where the focus remains strictly on the quality of the prepared food and the functionality of the workspace. This establishment balances the casual nature of a market-inspired café with the technical precision of a focused bistro kitchen. Every element, from the beverage selection to the curated seasonal vegetables, demonstrates a commitment to ingredient-led preparation methods.
Dandy is widely celebrated for its exceptional brunch offerings, particularly the ricotta pancakes, which many guests describe as the best they have ever tasted, and the crispy fried chicken sandwich, which frequently earns high praise for its quality and flavor. Visitors consistently highlight the fresh, high-quality ingredients and the beautiful, modern atmosphere that makes the restaurant a must-visit destination in Old Montreal. While the popularity of the spot often results in lines, especially on weekends, many guests feel the delicious meals, vibrant energy, and attentive, welcoming service provided by the professional staff make the experience entirely worth the wait.
Beautiful space, delicious food (I had the Endless Summer Breakfast, wow) & very kind service. I'll make this place a staple for all my future trips to MTL 💗
The hour wait on a rainy Saturday was well worth it. The atmosphere was vibrant & welcoming, the customer service was excellent from start to finish & the food was absolutely amazing, perhaps the best breakfast we've ever had! My husband had the smoked salmon with capers, I had the summer breakfast both had Americano coffees. Highly recommend & can't wait to return!
Service was good! There was a line out front waiting but since we were a group of 2 we got seated quickly. We went for breakfast around 11:45 & it was packed! Pretty loud in there but not enough to where you couldn't hear the people at your table. Food was amazing! I especially recommend the side of fingerling potatoes with the aioli. Bathrooms downstairs were unisex & clean.
Decent place with subpar service. Food is definitely super overrated, even compared with other local brunch options. & you can get less grumpy service like literally anywhere else in the city. I was really looking forward to the chicken sandwich, but that ended up being only decent as well. The texture of the chicken was good, but the filling in the burger was too mustardy & didn't go well with the chicken for me.
Had a great Saturday brunch at Dandy's on St. Jacques Street. We were 4 & had a 30 minute wait. Outside seating was available sooner. We wanted to experience the restaurant & were glad we waited.
Super pretty restaurant with a great vibe. Service wasn't the fastest because it was packed, but everyone was very friendly.
After all the recommendations & reviews, I had to try the signature Ricotta Pancakes with maple brown butter sauce & lemon cream. They were so amazingly good !
My friends each had the Smoked Salmon Toast with poached egg, dill pickle cream cheese, heirloom tomatoes, fresh herbs, arugula, & lemon on thick house bread. They loved it. I got to sample it too & agreed.
We also shared a great fresh Green Salad with mixed greens, shaved fennel, toasted almonds, & Italian vinaigrette.
The people who had been waiting in line beside us ended up seated next to us & offered us a taste of the Crispy Smashed Fingerling Potatoes. They were fabulous.
Was happy we waited. Great food, great atmosphere, & a really enjoyable brunch experience. 🥞🥗☕?✨😊
I came here because of the hype.
I ordered the fried egg platter was not rich at all.
My wife ordered the salmon platter also was not rich as well.
The high carb platters from what I have seen are the rich ones so if you wanna eat healthy not the place to go.
The waiter with the braids was very rude when I asked about our food as a table made up of 6 people got their food before us & we ordered before them & what is even worst they have the same platters as us!
