Dandy operates as a sophisticated bistro that emphasizes the intersection of artisanal culinary techniques and market-driven ingredients. The interior design reflects an industrial aesthetic characterized by high ceilings and expansive windows that illuminate the open dining area. Menu offerings focus on elevated classic dishes, featuring thick-cut sourdough toasts topped with seasonal produce and house-made ricotta. The kitchen consistently utilizes fresh, locally sourced components to construct balanced plates that favor structural simplicity over complex plating. Patrons experience a lively atmosphere where the focus remains strictly on the quality of the prepared food and the functionality of the workspace. This establishment balances the casual nature of a market-inspired café with the technical precision of a focused bistro kitchen. Every element, from the beverage selection to the curated seasonal vegetables, demonstrates a commitment to ingredient-led preparation methods.
Dandy is widely celebrated for its exceptional brunch offerings, particularly the ricotta pancakes, which many guests describe as the best they have ever tasted, and the crispy fried chicken sandwich, which frequently earns high praise for its quality and flavor. Visitors consistently highlight the fresh, high-quality ingredients and the beautiful, modern atmosphere that makes the restaurant a must-visit destination in Old Montreal. While the popularity of the spot often results in lines, especially on weekends, many guests feel the delicious meals, vibrant energy, and attentive, welcoming service provided by the professional staff make the experience entirely worth the wait.
Went there first lunch today. There was a line outside since they don't take reservations. My hubby & I didn't wait long & got seated in about 10 minutes. I ordered chicken salad, & sourdough bread & a fried egg as extras. Everything was so fresh & yummy. Highly recommend the chicken salad if you like crunchy ones. My hubby ordered the smoke salmon sandwich with tomatoes & greens. He loved it too. Super fresh!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely delicious! The food was incredibly tasty, fresh, & mouthwatering. It's definitely worth the wait! Once you take that first bite & taste how delicious the food is, you completely forget about the long wait. Everything was worth it. Highly recommended!

I wish we lived in Montreal... We were on vacation & lucky to find this place. The food was *outstanding*! We were lucky & got in line about 10 minutes before they opened & got seated pretty quickly. The line quickly wrapped around the corner, though, so definitely get there before doors open.
The Ricotta Pancakes are the best pancakes we've ever had. I tend to veer away from'fancy' pancakes because they're often too sweet, but these were perfectly balanced, light, & fluffy. (Sorry, Cafe September...but these pancakes win! 🙈) The Endless Summer Breakfast was also incredibly tasty & unique. We were so glad to have good vegetarian options! I can't recommend this place enough. The inside is, of course, also adorable. Great food & great atmosphere--would highly recommend it!
Absolute 5-star brunch experience at Dandy! Everything we ordered was top-tier. I highly recommend the Ricotta Pancakes with brown butter maple sauce, the Endless Summer Breakfast, & the Buttermilk Fried Chix Sandwich on brioche. Exceptional food, amazing flavors, & a great atmosphere-definitely a must-visit spot in Montreal!
This place is incredibly overrated. We waited in line for over 20 minutes, only to end up with one of the most disappointing meals we've had. Paid 130+ for 2 people. Why?!
The presentation looks great, but unfortunately that's where the positives end. The food itself was bland & below average. It's NOT GOOD AT ALL. It was also overpriced for what you get, & there was nothing unique or memorable about the experience.
To make matters worse, both my best friend & I started having stomach pain shortly after eating there. While I can't say for certain the food was the cause, it was concerning that we both experienced the same thing.
The atmosphere is nice, & the staff were genuinely friendly & welcoming, which I appreciated. However, good service alone isn't enough to make up for disappointing food.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend it. Save your money & try somewhere else.
Difficult to get in due to huge lines but fantastic food. Menu is simplistic but a few items on there are quite amazing.
Service was excellent & really enjoyed our later-than-usual-breakfast.
Tables are a bit too close to each other but it's manageable.
Highly recommended to at least try it while in Montreal 🤗
We loved Dandy so much the first time we came during our long weekend in Montreal that we came back the very next day! We made sure to get there right when it opened so we didn't have to wait in line. The first day we both got the endless summer breakfast, which was fantastic & had great flavors & textures. I saw people get the pancakes & knew I wanted to get those the next day, so we can back & ordered the pancakes on top of the fried chicken sandwich & the grilled halloumi sandwich (it was a lot of food, but we ate it all & it was SO WORTH IT!). What really makes each dish stand out is the amazing bread (the sourdough & focaccia are to die for) & high quality/fresh ingredients. The service is a bit slow at times, & there is a longer wait for food than at some places, but the food is worth it. We would recommend this place to anyone for brunch!
Wait was around 1.5 hours, but the food was worth it. Portion sizes are incredible. Our group of 7 was a bit cramped, but they made it work. Overall highly recommended.
