Overall, Dandy is portrayed as a popular all-day brunch spot in Old Montreal, known for its ricotta pancakes and a very crispy fried chicken sandwich, generous portions, and a friendly, efficient staff; the vibe is lively and stylish, with good coffee and drinks, but weekend lines and occasional inconsistencies in service and pricing can affect some visits; nonetheless, many reviewers say they would return to try more items and praise the atmosphere and the standout dishes that keep drawing them back.
I found this restaurant on Google by searching'best brunches in Montreal'. I also read another'world traveleing milennial's' article on the'10 best breakfast spots to go to' & figured this breakfast was going to be a homerun. We tried two times before around on the weekend where there was a line out the door, so no chance there. We finally got a table for four on a Tuesday arriving at 10am. The decor is nice, i'm sure the ceiling arches provide a great backdrop for that'mimosa while wearing my overcoat & adidas gazelles' or something hip like that, but that's probably the best this establishment can offer. I don't mind getting fancy or experimental with breakfast, but at the end of the day, I like the option to have some good scrambled eggs & nice european toast. Would it cost this restaurant too much to provide maybe a few omelette options? Once you get the menu, you'll know what I mean. The'Endless Summer Breakfast' is a fried egg on toast that could honestly have been used as a second plate. Very hard. The salad that goes along with it isn't your typical breakfast complimentary salad. Cherry tomatoes, zucchini mixed with Tzatziki sauce. Eh. I could think of a few better options. The pancakes were soggy & swimming in syrup. How about let the customer put the syrup on? They tasted okay, but not worth the marquee position on the menu. All the reviews i've read about these being the best pancakes ever...come on, pump your pancake brakes. They were okay. They don't have regular coffee. I get it. That's not en vogue. All the 20 & 30 year olds want the iced lattes. But how about drip coffee? You should at least have that. Instead, I have to get an Americano -- which is close to regular coffee...but, again, you have a beautiful spot, expensive latte machines & your job is breakfast. Just provide coffee. I can let food slide sometimes if the coffee gets me going. The barista brought us two americanos with the same excitement we saw from the Lynx & sleepy racoons at the Biodome. Zilch. Nada. Aucun. I understand keeeping the menu simple, but this was too simple & niche. I could read the faces of some of the over-50's like me as they flipped the menu over --'Where's the rest?' $168 dollars later I learned my lesson - don't take restaurant advice from a 30 year old'world-traveling instagrammer'. Long lines don't mean good food. They've just been overhyped by follows & likes from some influencer on the InstantGram. There is a spot 5 minutes away that is absolutely fantastic - Olive & Gourmando - go there.

Not only was this the best breakfast I've had on this trip, but it was the best meal overall. Delicious food, friendly & kind waiters, & the atmosphere was lively & fun but not overwhelming. We got the ricotta pancakes, fried chicken sandwich, & side of smashed potato fingerlings. Every single item was superb! I'm going to be dreaming about those pancakes for weeks. The chicken was soooo tender. Everything was seasoned perfectly. Highly highly recommend. My only regret is not finding this place sooner during our trip so we could come here more than once!
The food is delicious & fresh ingredients that you can taste immediately upon eating. It was busy as we went during brunch time. However there were no delays in service nor in delivering the delicious food & drinks. I was delightfully surprised at the ricotta pancakes, the chicken sandwich & my breakfast dish.
I agree with another review that the chicken was a surprisingly scrumptious & juicy. Not to mention the unique coffee. The atmosphere it's well lit, clean, spacious & welcoming design. My children & I enjoyed it.
Dandy's is a bustling hotspot that draws crowds, especially on weekends when you might find yourself waiting in line for about 30 minutes. So, is the wait worth it? Personally, I'd say not quite. But if you happen to stroll by when there's no queue, it's definitely worth a try.
Our main reason for visiting was to indulge in their renowned ricotta pancakes. Some reviews compare them to the pancakes at OEB Breakfast Co., which you can find in Vancouver & Toronto. In my honest opinion, they don't really compare - OEB still takes the crown. Dandy's pancakes are dense & tend to stick to your sides longer, which might appeal to some. If lemon flavor is your thing, great. Otherwise, ask for lemon cream on the side. The salad we ordered was nice but didn't really stand out.
A little bit of a wait to get seated but very worth it. We had a very nice breakfast here, with absolutely excellent service.
We had a smoked salmon sandwich & an Endless Summer Breakfast. The server was very attentive & understanding with a good allergy we brought up which was great to see.
I ate the endless breakfast & while it was a bit different than what I'd normally eat (not a fan of tomatoes or cucumbers), it was delicious. I really enjoyed it & would 100% eat it again.
Great start to the day & also a great Tira Misu coffee to get going for a full day or activity too.
Great spot for a delicious & hearty breakfast! We had the chicken sandwich & the endless summer breakfast. The service (Charo), coffee, & atmosphere were all excellent! We'll be back!
Great service with amazing endless summer breakfast. Would recommend the crispy bacon as an add on. The lemonade was a bit disappointing- very bland with no flavor.

Delicious food! Large portions, almost too American lol. We had the chicken sandwich, the pancakes (a must) & the summer breakfast. Would recommend all! The service was very attentive & friendly.
We had breakfast at Dandy two days in a row this past weekend & we could not have loved it more. The food was absolutely delicious. The staff is unbelievable, so professional & lovely to interact with. We are hooked.
Dandy is the quintessential montreal brunch place. We had the butter milk fried chix sandwich & the endless summer breakfast. the food was excellent & portions are generous. the service was fast & really nice. Love the vibe 💯
Great Brunch spot overall! Service was friendly, waiting time on a Sunday at noon was about 30 minutes, the coffee was very good (even had a 2nd one) & both plates were absolutely delicious! The size of the plates were pretty big too!
Had the Endless Summer Breakfast with extra bacon & 2 Cappuccinos with oat milk, total of 50$ txs in!
Definitely recommend!
