Dandy is a super popular breakfast/brunch resto in Old Montreal that fills up very, very quickly. A small bakery window faces a rectangular eating area fronted by a large arch & backed by an even larger window facing St. Jacques street. The menu itself is relatively limited with seven options listed (along with a few sides & whatever is available at the baked good counter at the front), but there is something for everyone...sweet, savory, breakfast item or lunch. For our meal we ordered the Ricotta Pancakes (good but a little on the dry side, although the maple syrup mix at the bottom of the dish was quite nice) & Mushroom Toast (also good, savory & large) coupled with the baked Butter Tart (yummy...you can never go wrong with a butter tart). Service was friendly & efficient with the meal coming out promptly (although we were one of the firsts to get our order in). NOTE: The restaurant opens at 10am & the line starts to build at 9:45am, if not earlier, so if you arrive at around 10:15 then expect to wait 45 minutes until the tables turn & new patrons are cycled through. We finally got around to trying @dandy.mtl to see if it lived up to the hype. They don't take reservations but we only waited about 15 minutes at 10:45am, not too bad. We were served extremely quickly & ordered delicious, satisfying, Ricotta Pancakes covered in luscious syrup & the buttermik fried chicken sandwich featuring some of the best crispy, delectable fried chicken we've ever had. We washed this down with a delightful maple latté. We finished & were driving home by 11:30am. We don't eat slow but, while everything was excellent (service included), we did feel the overall atmosphere is fast paced & a little rushed. Personally, the opposite of the feeling we want on a Sunday morning but food-wise, yes, it does live up to the hype.

We happened to come across this restaurant while visiting Montreal & were rewarded for it. I had the chicken sandwich & my friend had the ricotta pancakes, both were WONDERFUL! The staff was great & attentive. We took the desserts to go & were again rewarded with goodness…definitely worth it.

Most friendly staff with impeccable service. An absolute must in Old Montreal without hesitation. They make a mean, juicy, mouth watering fried chicken sandwich served on the fluffiest brioche bread. The ricotta pancakes, bathing in liquid gold, will leave you speechless.

Unfortunately we were disappointed by our breakfast at Dandy. The server was great but the food was just okay. I ordered the breakfast sandwich & found the verrrry thick cut bacon not cooked enough; it was just fatty, no crisp anywhere. The bread was large & almost overpowering. My husband saw a pic of the ricotta pancakes on instagram so had to get them. Again, disappointed. They tasted like Aunt Jemina powder pancakes!

Delicious food as we enjoyed potato latke/smoked salmon & ricotta pancakes), excellent service & friendly staff, restaurant is beautiful with big windows & décor, we had a relaxing & fun time! This was my second time dining at Dandy for lunch during the week & weekend brunch & I will definitely come back with my friends.
