In 1861, Thomas Wilson first established its hardware store at 400 Place Jacques Cartier and for over 155 years, this building stood at the very heart of the Old Montreal. In 1970, the iconic French restaurant Chez Queux moved in and would remain there for well over 40 years.
Today it is our turn to leave our mark on this legendary Montreal building. We welcome all who come by, providing food the way we like it, simple, fresh and delicious. After a long day of sightseeing or while on a break from your bicycle ride in the Old Port, drop by Comptoir 400, we are always happy too see (and feed) you!

I used to frequent this restaurant in Old Port quite often for a long time, & it used to be my favorite spot. I adored their pizzas as they were of excellent quality & absolutely delicious. However, on my recent visit, my experience was utterly disappointing. The quality of the pizza has significantly decreased, & it tasted quite sour this time. While the service was never exceptional, it was decent in the past. However, during my last visit, our server got our order wrong. When the food was brought to us, we informed them that it was not what we ordered. After a while, the waitress returned with the same pizza, insisting that it was our order. Despite their mistake, they did not take any corrective action. When we mentioned that we had ordered an extra-large size, the waitress refused to acknowledge it & instead suggested adding another large pizza to our order, claiming that the other size would be too big for us. After a long wait & growing frustration from hunger, we reluctantly agreed, & they served us the same cold pizza that had been brought out before & took another order. The second pizza arrived about 30 minutes later, but at that point, we were too frustrated & no longer had an appetite. We took a few bites & ended up leaving. The cleanliness of the restaurant was just okay, but the bathrooms were extremely dirty.

Serveuse sympathique, mais la cuisson a pris un temps fou! & la pizza, vraiment pas fou... Mes parents ont eu du mal a digérer la nuit... Bref pas une bonne expérience !
Such an awesome place! The size of the XL pizza was massive & could easily feed a family of 4-5. The different topping choices were great. I'd recommend the americano (prosciutto, mushroom)!

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm, inviting atmosphere that perfectly captured the essence of an authentic Italian eatery. Our server, Mariam, was extraordinary. She welcomed us with a friendly smile & provided top-notch service throughout our meal. She would wave & play with our kid & make him smile & laugh. Her extensive knowledge of the menu & her thoughtful recommendations made our dining experience even more enjoyable. Mariam was attentive, ensuring that our glasses were never empty & that we had everything we needed without being intrusive. The food was absolutely delicious, especially the pizza & crepe. Each bite was bursting with flavor, & the crust was perfectly crisp. It was clear that the ingredients were fresh & of high quality. The restaurant also boasts an impressive selection of wine & beer, which complemented our meal perfectly. Mariam's suggestions on pairing drinks with our food were spot on & added an extra layer of enjoyment to our dinner. Mariam's exceptional service truly stood out. She went above & beyond to make sure we had a wonderful experience, paying attention to every detail & making us feel like valued guests. Her genuine care & professionalism were evident & greatly appreciated. In summary, this resto offers delectable pizza, a fantastic selection of wines & beers, & outstanding service. If you're looking for a place to enjoy a memorable Italian meal in great location in historic Montreal old part of the city , this is the spot. Beau resto ! Belle terrasse ! L'emplacement est superbe ! Un choix de bières plus diversifiés serait apprécié. Les pizzas sont bonnes & de qualité. Attendez-vous de payer 50$ par personne pour dîner.
Très bonnes pizzas... extra large... Le service est très amicale & serviable. On a très bien mangé. Deux pizzas grands pour 5 personnes étaient super bien... pas trop cher ! C'est ouvert plus tard! Recommandable. On va retourner...

Hier soir, ma fiancée & moi avons dîné au Comptoir 400 & avons adoré notre expérience. Ismaël, notre serveur, a été exceptionnel. Malgré l'affluence, il nous a trouvé une place magnifique sur la terrasse & nous a recommandé des pizzas délicieuses. Son service était parfait : attentif & sympathique. L'ambiance du restaurant est conviviale & la nourriture de haute qualité. Nous reviendrons avec plaisir & recommandons vivement cet endroit. Encore une fois merci Isma !!!
Franchement meilleur expérience sur le vieux port, l'hôtesse était très gentille & nous as apporté à une belle table qui avait la vue sur le vieux port. Notre serveur était très gentil & nous as recommandé la pizza Carolina qui était sans blague, la meilleure pizza à Montréal. Bravo le chef! Franchement pour le prix que c'est je le recommande à tout le monde
