In 1861, Thomas Wilson first established its hardware store at 400 Place Jacques Cartier and for over 155 years, this building stood at the very heart of the Old Montreal. In 1970, the iconic French restaurant Chez Queux moved in and would remain there for well over 40 years.
Today it is our turn to leave our mark on this legendary Montreal building. We welcome all who come by, providing food the way we like it, simple, fresh and delicious. After a long day of sightseeing or while on a break from your bicycle ride in the Old Port, drop by Comptoir 400, we are always happy too see (and feed) you!
Comptoir 400 in Old Montreal comes across as a lively spot with a pleasant terrace and a versatile menu that covers pizzas burgers poutine and seafood. Several dishes stand out including a great Margherita pizza and a tasty arugula pizza along with mussels and fish and chips, though some portions feel inconsistent and timing can vary. The service is described as friendly and attentive by many, while others report slower or less reliable service and some concerns about value and presentation. The location and ambiance are praised for being welcoming and suitable for a casual meal in a tourist area, and while many reviews recommend the place, the experience can differ depending on the time and staff.

It's a place where passion & taste converge, leaving a lasting impression.
