About

ChuChai specializes in sophisticated Thai cuisine rendered entirely plant-based through the creative use of soy, seitan, and fresh vegetables. The menu replicates traditional meat-based textures and flavors, offering items such as crispy mock duck, aromatic red curry, and savory stir-fries infused with authentic spices. This establishment maintains a commitment to replicating iconic dishes while strictly adhering to a vegan philosophy. Diners encounter a variety of plates featuring fresh herbs, coconut milk, and bold chili heat that defines classic regional Thai profiles. The interior provides a relaxed atmosphere suitable for exploring plant-based interpretations of Southeast Asian staples. Every dish demonstrates meticulous preparation, ensuring that each component contributes to a balanced and flavorful experience that challenges conventional perceptions of meat-free eating while delivering substantial, satisfying portions that honor the culinary traditions of Thailand.

ChuChai is widely celebrated as a premier vegan Thai restaurant in Montreal that consistently impresses both plant-based diners and meat lovers alike with its authentic, flavourful, and high-quality dishes. Many reviewers highlight the crispy mock duck as a standout menu item, frequently noting its remarkable texture and taste, while other popular selections include the peanut sauce dumplings, Tom Yum soup, and various curry dishes. While the vast majority of guests praise the attentive and welcoming staff, a few visitors have mentioned occasional inconsistencies in service or seasoning, yet the overall consensus remains overwhelmingly positive. With its inviting atmosphere, reasonable pricing, and creative menu options, ChuChai has established itself as a must-visit destination that many guests feel compelled to return to time and again.

We loved our first experience here at this all-vegan restaurant! The food was fantastic! Delicious & nicely presented. & we appreciated the recommendations from the staff! The dumplings in peanut sauce are a must have! We also had the Tom Kai soup with tofu, spicy tofu with eggplant & basil & the crispy'duck'! So delicious!

Very lively restaurant (not very quiet or private) , service was top notch & friendly. I had the peanut butter dumplings & the fried spring rolls - both were delicious & hot, but I had the tofu with peanut sauce, crispy spinach & sticky rice was sub par. The tofu was soggy & flimsy, not enough peanut sauce & crispy spinach was tasteless. For the price per meal, I was definitely not impressed.

Delicious food & great service! To start, we had the het waan krob (breaded crispy mushrooms, which were sooooo good), & the kari puff (which, admittedly, I would have liked with a sauce). For our main course, we had the royal pad thai & the kang daeng ped, which were both so rich & succulent! They nailed the vegan shrimp taste & texture. I couldn't really tell the difference between the tofu & vegan chicken, but it was still tasty. The staff were really friendly & quick, & the whole place was clean & classy.

The tofu dish with crisp spinach was too sweet. No need for sugar on the spinach. . While the peanut sauce was delicious it too would be improved with less sugar.

This restaurant was the saving grace of our Montreal trip. We had been having a hard time finding good Vegetarian food until here. Service was an amazing, cozy atmosphere, packed restaurant. Food was very tasty, however portions of entrees were on the smaller side for price as well tofu & eggplant dish was simple in taste & technique compared to other places I've gotten it from. We got the dumpling in peanut sauce, le tiger cocktail, pad Thai & tofu & eggplant. I wanted to get the fried banana dessert but when asked the dessert selection it wasn't offered.

Warning: This review comes from a non-vegan so I'm not sure how to review it.

We took the table d'hôte & it came in an abundance of food! I was quite happy to not feel disgusting even with dessert in the end. I was a huge fan of the papaya salad, the fresh spring roll, & my fried spinach peanut butter tofu ricr bowl! The fried banana dessert was the cherry on top.

Oh, don't forget to order their drinks, it's good!

Exceptional food quality & service! We tried the vegan shrimp appetizer, peanut dumplings, tofu fries, vegan duck curry & tapioca pudding - all were fabulous! Waiters/waitresses were super professional, kind & considerate & very swift. Best place for vegetarians in Montreal!
