Review Summary

Reviews consistently praise ChuChai for a fully vegan Thai menu that delivers authentic flavors and textures, with crowd favorites such as the vegan crispy duck, Tom Yum, green and red curries, Panang, and dumplings with peanut sauce that satisfy both vegans and meat lovers. The atmosphere is described as cozy and minimal, and the staff are repeatedly described as friendly and attentive, though a few comments note slower service during busy times or moments when refills are missed. The menu is varied and creative, and many meals are described as well balanced and deeply flavorful, with soups and curries highlighted as standouts. Prices are generally viewed as reasonable, though some dishes feel a bit pricey to certain diners. Reservations are often advised during peak hours due to popularity. Overall ChuChai is regarded as one of the best vegan or vegan friendly Thai options in Montreal, offering a dependable, flavorful dining experience for groups and for diners who are not vegan.

The tom yum soup was good the flavours were there , just a tad too salty for my liking . My friend had the squash soup which was good.

Tried the papaya & vermicelli salads . They weren't for me personally but my friend really enjoyed the vermicelli salad.

Now for the main dishes .

I had the beef curry which had deep & rich flavour but missing something however the star is the crispy duck my friend had it was delicious I wish I had gotten that. It was a 10/10 . Overall I'd say it was good but definitely netter out there but the service was top notch.

Honestly the best Asian vegan restaurant ever. The crispy duck could fool any non vegan!

Update, came back after some time & was very disappointed in their'chicken' skewers. They used to be so good, individual crispy pieces , now they are just a cut up loaf of seitan I can buy at the grocery store. Not worth the price anymore

We loved our first experience here at this all-vegan restaurant! The food was fantastic! Delicious & nicely presented. & we appreciated the recommendations from the staff! The dumplings in peanut sauce are a must have! We also had the Tom Kai soup with tofu, spicy tofu with eggplant & basil & the crispy'duck'! So delicious!

Good food & friendly service.
We tried the server's recommendations; crispy duck & dumplings with peanut sauce. While they were not exceptional, we enjoyed them.

Went on a Friday evening. Sat at the bar as I was by myself. The staff is very nice & friendly. Cereal gave me recommendations for places to visit in Montreal!

I had the Tom Yum & the Crispy Duck. The Tom Yum lacked depth in flavors but the crispy duck was too good! I had never had something like this in vegan food before

Definitely worth a visit if you are in Montreal

Very lively restaurant (not very quiet or private) , service was top notch & friendly. I had the peanut butter dumplings & the fried spring rolls - both were delicious & hot, but I had the tofu with peanut sauce, crispy spinach & sticky rice was sub par. The tofu was soggy & flimsy, not enough peanut sauce & crispy spinach was tasteless. For the price per meal, I was definitely not impressed.

Je suis venue plusieurs fois manger à chaque fois le même plat : Ped Palo - Crispy vegan duck. Incroyablement délicieux ! L'imitation du canard est très réussie !

We got the Thai Princess drink, dumplings in peanut sauce (Kiao satay), the vegan chicken skewers (Gai Satay), the vegan beef in 3 flavor sauce (Neua Sam Rod), the eggplant & vegan shrimp (koung pad makere). I would recommend the Gai Satay & the Neua Sam Rod, it was really flavorful & the vegan beef had a nice crispy texture. I'm personally not a fan of the shrimp texture, which was probably made with konjac jelly. I've been here before & tried the crispy vegan duck & would highly recommend it as well. The ambience is really cozy & chic. The staff is really friendly & explained all the dishes we were curious about. I would visit again!

Delicious food & great service! To start, we had the het waan krob (breaded crispy mushrooms, which were sooooo good), & the kari puff (which, admittedly, I would have liked with a sauce). For our main course, we had the royal pad thai & the kang daeng ped, which were both so rich & succulent! They nailed the vegan shrimp taste & texture. I couldn't really tell the difference between the tofu & vegan chicken, but it was still tasty. The staff were really friendly & quick, & the whole place was clean & classy.

10/10 across the board! We got the Kiao Satay (dumplings in peanut sauce), Waan Krob (crispy seaweed), Poe Pia Tod (Fried Imperial Rolls), Ped Palo (Crispy duck), & Neua Sam Rod (crispy beef). The peanut sauce was so delicious we could've drank it. The crispy seaweed was perfection. The crispy duck is something I thought I would never find but they have absolutely gotten it right, I'd say better than the real thing. & the beef was the favorite of the table, even better as leftovers the next day. The service was wonderful, & bonus points for mocktail options on their drinks. We're only visiting for a week but will surely be back at ChuChai!
