Chifa is a chifa restaurant montreal and a chinese peruvian restaurant montreal, representing Chef Larrea’s way of sharing childhood memories through his own interpretation of Chinese Peruvian cuisine. Originating from Peru, this Chifa cuisine is the accord of Chinese elements, expressing the identity of a true fusion restaurant montreal.
Chifa offers a lively Peruvian Chinese fusion that many guests find flavorful, creative, and engaging, with an open kitchen that lets diners watch the chefs at work. The menu is built for sharing, delivering a mix of ceviche, anticuchos, lomo saltado, dumplings, and chow mein, paired with crafted cocktails and attentive service that keeps the atmosphere welcoming. The vibes are described as cozy and buzz worthy, a stylish spot suited for date nights, gatherings, or pre show bites, with friendly staff adding to a warm experience. Some reviews mention that portions can be modest for the price and a few dishes could be spicier or more balanced, yet the overall impression centers on high quality ingredients, thoughtful execution, and a memorable, enjoyable dining journey.
Tried CHIFA
big disappointment. None of the dishes had any real flavor. I really wanted to like it, but the octopus was the worst I've ever had in my entire life.
This place is a must! Came here a few months back, we ordered a few dishes, I didn't find the daily cones to be worth it, they were a bit overpriced & really not filling or overly tasty. HOWEVER, we ordered two other dishes & if we could, we would have licked the plates clean. They were absolutely fantastic, I really truly recommend this place to anyone

Excellent quality of food & care for details from the young dynamic chefs, however way too pricey for the size of the dishes.
Maybe ok for downtown office folk, but for glob-trotter foodies super familiar with Mtl gastronomic scene, it's a stretch on the budget...we'll return one of those nights when we go see a show at PdA...
The only negative about my experience at Chifa was that I was enjoying the food so much, I forgot to take pictures of most of it! We reserved for 20 people for a surprise party, & they accommodated us perfectly in a private section. It was exactly what we needed, & the whole setup felt seamless.
Now, let's talk about the food-it was absolutely delicious. Every single dish was on point. We went with the formula option, which allowed us to try a bit of everything. In total, we had around seven different dishes, & every single one was fresh, perfectly seasoned, & bursting with flavor. Honestly, I can't even pick a favorite because they were all so good, but if I *had* to, the fried chicken was a standout (my personal'coup de coeur'). The mushroom skewers were unbelievable, & the ceviche with its sauce was next level.
The service was also amazing-friendly, fast, & super attentive, even with such a large group. The food came out quickly, & the staff made sure everything was running smoothly. From start to finish, it was an amazing experience.
If you're looking for a spot with incredible food & great service, Chifa is a no-brainer. 5 stars, hands down. I'll definitely be back!
Fantastic experience. We were seated at the bar with open kitchen entertaining us. We gave the waiter & chef carte blanche & the Pisco Sours, dishes & wine pairings kept flowing. A night to remember!
Chifa was great! The duck & lobster fries were absolutely delicious-highly recommended. The flavors were spot on, & the dishes were perfectly executed. A wonderful spot for a satisfying meal! -- Chifa était excellent! Le canard & les frites au homard étaient absolument délicieux-je les recommande vivement. Les saveurs étaient parfaites & les plats bien réalisés. Un endroit merveilleux pour un repas savoureux!
Overall, the food was very good. We had the catch if the day ceviche (tilapia), chaufa, & Chow Mein. I spent a considerable amount of time in Peru & have eaten my fair share of cusqueno y Lima based chifa, so expectations were high. The food was pretty delicious. It had a lot of flavor & did herald a lot of the same qualities as local Peruvian chifa. The aji was a solid touch (if you know, you know). Service wise, I was slightly disappointed. We received our first two dishes relatively quickly, but they forgot about our other entre for almost 45 minutes. They followed up a few times when asked, but it didn't come. The restaurant wasn't extremely busy, so the fact that they knew we didn't receive it & it still took 45 minutes to essentially receives noodles/meat was not really acceptable. Nothing was done to rectify the delay (a discount or a freebie would have been nice, seeing as we were in here for nearly 2 hours). It was a good experience & it was cool seeing chifa in Montreal. I'd recommend the food if you haven't been before, but the service does leave something to be desired. I'd otherwise give it a 4 or 5, but the service dropped the review to a 3.

My date said this was her favourite restaurant - in faith in her tastes I obliged. Peruvian-Chinese fusion is not run-off-the-mill cuisine, & Chifa does a fine job at executing this niche of fusion. My experience with other fusion restaurants is that the dishes tend to lean towards one side with only a touch of the other cuisine that it is supposed to be a fusion with. Chifa's dishes are perfectly balanced between Peruvian & Chinese, creating a wholly new experience. The octopus skewers were delectable. Really enjoyed the beef dish as well. The friend chicken comes in 3rd place but was still very enjoyable. Expert chefs at this place creating some impressive dishes. The atmosphere of this place is nice too, they did a good job at using the space. The bathroom is a bit of an adventure to get to but a minor detail. Prices are reasonable for this level of dining.
The food at this place is just incredible if you like trying fusion cuisine asian/peruvian. The staff is super nice & absolutely passionate I have discovered so many great dishes & drinks from their recommendations. Must try the Pisco Sour 🍹 & the 4 skewers tasting 🍢 as well as the ceviche are my personal favorites. This is really a montreal hidden gem 💎 most restaurant staff from other high end restaurants love to go to this spot to eat & that says a lot. It can be a bit tight & you do need a reservation as it's mostly sold out for the busy nights like Thursday to Sunday.
Charming atmosphere & great location. The anticuchos de pulpo (octopus) were the highlight of the menu (the sauce was exquisite!)! Other dishes varied from good to okay, & drinks were a bit disappointing-I don't think they used pisco in the "pisco sour" (perhaps Brandi?). The picarones came out undercooked inside, hopefully just a bad batch.

Delicious restaurant with dishes that are tapas size & the esthetic of their presentation is so beautiful that it enhances the taste. We sat in the terrace which is on the road, but in a summer day, it is better than locked in side the restaurant.
Walked by this vibing Peruvian fusion resto & thought I should give it a taste. I started off with the : -Chicha morada cocktail: Purple corn syrup, lime juice, soda. Punchy tartness that's pretty to look at. A touch of soda so it's not overwhelmingly fizzy. A good upgrade on a fizzy lemonade -Sui Mai : doused in a soy chili sauce with green onions this salty pleasure did not disappoint. I halved the sui mai to sop up the delicious salty sauce & buried those flavorful wonders in my mouth. Full of shrimp & pork- they were flavorful even without that salty soy goodness. -Fritti calamari: oh man. I don't even know what to say. So light yet crunchy & moist. Cooked to perfection. Didn't even need the sesame tahini garlic tasting sauce- although that sauce. I would have slathered that all over a shawarma..... if I was eating a shawarma. I ended up eating both items individually as they were sooo good. Also good together but I felt that eating the calamari separately from the sauce I could really enjoy the individual flavors & savour all it had to offer. But as hubby says to me all the time "you gotta eat it when it's hot". It looses a bit of its crunchy texture as it cools down. - Wonton soup: was an order put through because I was feeling a bit under the weather. Pretty bland to be frank, even when I added the remnants of my sui mai soy sauce. The two wontons were a bit too big with the the filling minimal compared to the noodle wrapping. Would not order this one again. Overall I'd come back to try some of the peruvian dishes
Interesting mix of Peruvian/Chinese food. The food was fine, but if you compare it to Chinese food that some of the dishes are trying to emulate, it falls flat. The flavours felt unbalanced & some meat dishes were on the dryer side. Otherwise, as fun hybrid dishes that are experimenting, the food is just okay. The staff was very friendly, service was good, & the ambiance & decor inside was nice.
I would have preferred if the 10 dishes we ordered were more spread out in the service. I asked the waiter should I just order a couple now & some later - & he said I'll make sure that they come slowly. It didn't I had to tell the person bringing the plates to please put a hold on the food so we can enjoy our experience & stay longer.

I was hoping to find some unique flavors on a visit to Montreal for work, this was it 😍. Amazing food, great dishes for sharing 😋 small tables perfect for four & great drinks menu (we were drinking mocktails & happy to have some delicious choices) 😁💛
We flew in late from out of town. We were tired & hungry. We stumbled into Chifa & it was one of the best dinning experiences ever. The food is out of this world amazing. The staff was friendly & very welcoming. I can’t emphasize enough how incredibly amazing the food was. We ordered several dishes, & all were perfection! We are going back for dinner to try more of their amazing menu.
Mediocre service & food. I'd give Chifa another shot but only when it's not crowded.
The were really busy & didn't seat us until 30 minutes after our reservation time. Trying to get the server's attention was a challenge & since the dishes are family style, each dish came out one at a time, about 20-30 minutes apart. The rice was unevenly cooked--it was obvious that the kitchen staff combined plain undercooked rice with the dish in order to increase the portion. The rice that was seasoned was cooked but mixed in with underflavored & undercooked rice.
The dinner was already mediocre, but went downhill when one of the servers attempted to pour a new wine into a glass that still had a different type of wine in it. We had already finished a bottle of wine & wanted to order a different wine by the glass. The server offered us tastings, & without having finished the first tasting, he attempted to pour the second wine into the same glass. I stopped him because I did not want to mix two different wines & his response was, "it's just a tasting." This is after he already refused to serve a certain wine because they did not have an open bottle.
We loved our experience at Chifa. We sat at the bar, enjoyed watching one of the chef's prepare ceviche dishes (which we tried of course). We also had the dumplings & a few other dishes. Everything was delicious & beautifully presented. Highly recommended if you are looking for a tasty food with fun atmosphere. & the service was very friendly & responsive. A wonderful evening.
