Good take on Peruvian food! We loved the ice cream & the lomo.View more
I was looking forward to trying some peruvian chinese food, which I've never had before. The dish I would come back for is the Lomo Saltado. The beef was tender, well seasoned & the tomatoes were a great burst of flavour. The other dishes were also fine, just not as memorable as I was hoping it would be.
It is a littler on the pricier side & reservations are recommended. We walked in with a party of 4 & got seated at the bar which was pretty fun because you could see the different dishes they prepared.View more
We really enjoyed sharing different plates with our teenage daughters.
The food is a really interesting mix of traditional Peruvian & Asian influences. The seafood was the perfect texture & perfectly fresh, the sauces were delicious, & the mocktail was gorgeous (I want to come back for a cocktail when I'm not driving!).
If you are adverse to spicy flavors, definitely ask for recommendations, but my teenagers were fine with most of the spice, just the octopus sauce was too much for them (my husband & I were thrilled to eat the part they couldn't finish! 😅).
The staff was super friendly & professional! I only took off one star for atmosphere because we found the music too loud to be able to talk to each other much, so be forewarned, although many places in Montreal are louder.
We're excited to go back again! ❤?View more
I had a great time at this Peruvian place in Montreal! Honestly, what a gem. The food is made in front of your eyes & the ceviche & tiradito are fresh & full of flavour. All the dishes were fantastic & I found the service to be at a great pace & very friendly. The salmon ceviche was my favourite but honestly you can't ho wrong with any option!View more
Honestly, amazing Peruvian x Chinese fusion. Love their food, the atmosphere, the service was also good! Definitely recommend.View more
A delightful fusion of flavors!
This restaurant beautifully blends Peruvian cuisine with subtle Chinese influences, creating a unique & flavorful dining experience. The dishes were well-balanced, rich in taste, & the service was warm & attentive Jeremy was a great host & gave us the right advices.
A must-try for those who enjoy creative culinary twistsView more
Nice Chinese/Peruvian place! With reasonable price & portion was overall generous. I feel like the Peruvian touch was weaker than other restaurants though, they could've had more originality on each dish.View more
Visiting Montreal for the weekend we were looking for something a bit different from the many delicious bistros etc. Chifa came up.
Close to our hotel we arrived before 9 pm & sat at the bar. The staff were welcoming & informative.
The play list was Cuban, the menu a fusion of Peruvian & Asian.
The empanadas were excellent, the shrimp also very tasty.
The Chi Jau Kaï Chicken was fantastic - served with rice which we paired with the market vegetables.
The Pastel Cholco was deliciously decadent.
The choice of rum made for a difficult decision.
A gem.View more
Food is amazing; the flavor is very strong & distinctive. Ceviche, skewers, & pastel choclo (dessert) are the highlights of our meal. Peruvian x Chinese is such an impressive combo. Service & ambiance are great. It's definitely worth a try.View more
Having eaten in Peru I can say these don't seem to be traditional Peruvian cuisine, the Jalea for example is usually served with plantains but came with seasoned French fries. the food is good but comes in small portions, you will need to eat around 2 or 3 main courses to be satisfied. The decor & ambiance though is incredibleView more
Very good service & delicious Chifa (Peruvian-Chinese food) & I can tell, cause I'm peruvian😊Love it!View more
Nice place & really good food - nice fusion of eastern & Peruvian!! I recommend it to youView more
Overall, the food was very good. We had the catch if the day ceviche (tilapia), chaufa, & Chow Mein. I spent a considerable amount of time in Peru & have eaten my fair share of cusqueno y Lima based chifa, so expectations were high. The food was pretty delicious. It had a lot of flavor & did herald a lot of the same qualities as local Peruvian chifa. The aji was a solid touch (if you know, you know). Service wise, I was slightly disappointed. We received our first two dishes relatively quickly, but they forgot about our other entre for almost 45 minutes. They followed up a few times when asked, but it didn't come. The restaurant wasn't extremely busy, so the fact that they knew we didn't receive it & it still took 45 minutes to essentially receives noodles/meat was not really acceptable. Nothing was done to rectify the delay (a discount or a freebie would have been nice, seeing as we were in here for nearly 2 hours). It was a good experience & it was cool seeing chifa in Montreal. I'd recommend the food if you haven't been before, but the service does leave something to be desired. I'd otherwise give it a 4 or 5, but the service dropped the review to a 3.View more
This was our first experience trying any sort of peruvian food & we were very impressed. The cocktail menu contained a selection of predictable Pisco drinks, which we had no problem enjoying! Shoutout to any cocktail with passionfruit. For the food it is a fusion of peruvian & Chinese & we took the bartenders recommendations & tried the ceviche Pato caliente, the lomo saltado (the sauce being the highlight here for sure) & the chaufa especiale (fried rice). This was definitely enough food for the two of us. Overall great service & recommendations. We will definitely be back.View more
Chifa is a fantastic blend of Chinese & Peruvian flavors! Every dish is unique & full of flavor. The cozy atmosphere & friendly service make it even better. A must-visit for anyone looking to try something different!View more
The problem with some "tapas" style restaurants in Montreal is that they charge you 15$+ plus for a small tapa plate, unfortunately. The concept of tapas is small cheap plates to be accompanied by drinks, so this way we can really share & taste different things. Not full plate price. They took several minutes to bring one of our friends tapa, just because we wouldn't share as they "advise". Food is good tho, not the best Peruvian in town, but still good. The ambiance is also nice!View more
Great spot for Peruvian food! Enjoyed the dinner & drinks.....will definitely go back to try some of the other dishes.View more
My date said this was her favourite restaurant - in faith in her tastes I obliged. Peruvian-Chinese fusion is not run-off-the-mill cuisine, & Chifa does a fine job at executing this niche of fusion. My experience with other fusion restaurants is that the dishes tend to lean towards one side with only a touch of the other cuisine that it is supposed to be a fusion with. Chifa's dishes are perfectly balanced between Peruvian & Chinese, creating a wholly new experience. The octopus skewers were delectable. Really enjoyed the beef dish as well. The friend chicken comes in 3rd place but was still very enjoyable. Expert chefs at this place creating some impressive dishes. The atmosphere of this place is nice too, they did a good job at using the space. The bathroom is a bit of an adventure to get to but a minor detail. Prices are reasonable for this level of dining.View more
One of the best Peruvian & Chinese fusion food in dt definitely worth trying. Although their food is generally a bit saltyView more
Food is 11/10, absolutely incredible & tasty. Portions are well sized, & everything we had was so delicious. Service was impeccable. The restaurant is a bit noisy & loud inside so it's hard to maintain a conversation but they have a nice terrace outside. Overall highly recommend Chifa for delicious Peruvian fusion cuisine!View more
The food at this place is just incredible if you like trying fusion cuisine asian/peruvian. The staff is super nice & absolutely passionate I have discovered so many great dishes & drinks from their recommendations. Must try the Pisco Sour 🍹 & the 4 skewers tasting 🍢 as well as the ceviche are my personal favorites. This is really a montreal hidden gem 💎 most restaurant staff from other high end restaurants love to go to this spot to eat & that says a lot. It can be a bit tight & you do need a reservation as it's mostly sold out for the busy nights like Thursday to Sunday.View more
This is worth the stop when in the area. The service was in point & the food was excellent. Fusion Peruvian tapas that were honestly so delicious.View more
It's more like chinese food fusion with Peruvian palate. There's strong wok hei in the fried rice! Impressive with the cook. Setting is great for table of 4, squeeze a bit for cosy cosy 6 😁. Service staff can be a bit hard to gather their attention. Drinks & food came out wrong. Maybe it's a one off. Will visit again to confirm.View more
Most of the food was barely good...we did not enjoy the scallops. I am the only one who had the chowmein & got food poisoning. Pork was very pink. Only thing I can recommend is the jalea, but for that price you can get more & yummier somewhere else. We were a group of 4 & all Peruvian... this did not taste like Peruvian chifa to us. I unfortunately do not recommend. Save your money.View more
Delicious! Tastes very close to the Peruvian Chifa. The difference is the presentation, since this is tapas style. It was a delightful dining experience. Recommended!View more
Small restaurant with pretty decent Peruvian food . It doesn't have a wow factor & the seating arrangement is almost diner style / bar which isn't always ideal.View more
The food was very disappointing. I ordered the Chaufa Rice & it simply was not good. The chicken was fried to the point it was supper dry & the rice had that off-putting raw egg flavor. Given the long tradition of Peruvian Chinese food this was really disappointing. The service was also very poor, the type of service where they make you feel they are doing you a favor. If you are eating solo they will not even give you a table inside, you need to eat at the bar. The restaurant looks really nice inside.View more
The food was amazing! Best Peruvian restaurant I've been to yet. It's a small place & is often busy so if you can make a reservation before going so you won't have to wait in line. The atmosphere makes it perfect for a night out with friends or for a date night. The service was excellent everyone was super nice & friendly.View more
