Je donne l'avis de ma belle-mère. Super belle place familiale pour un repas en couple ou en famille dans une ambiance joviale & un service impeccable.
Been coming here for years. Always great service & a warm reception. I try to at least come for the popular Christmas dinner. The place was full & luckily for my son & I, we sat at the counter immediately. You have your choice of main food with the Christmas dinner or the trio. We chose the trio of meatballs, turkey & tortiere. Unfortunately, I seems to get turkey ends & wasn't great but everything else was delicious. Highly recommend. A nostalgic place & style of restaurant that was plentiful in the day but a rarity today.
great place, the service is good & you eat well there, many different breakfast options, overall good place for breakfast & lunch
If you're looking to spend your morning surrounded by the quiet hum of Westmount privilege & the scent of generational wealth, Chez Nick is the absolute pinnacle of the Montreal diner experience. I've never felt more like a character in a Mordecai Richler novel while questioning my own tax bracket.
Chez Nick has been around since 1920, & walking in feels like a time capsule-if that time capsule was meticulously maintained & filled with people who own at least three different types of cashmere.
The Coffee: Finally, a diner that doesn't serve brown-tinted water. The coffee is aggressively strong-enough to make you reconsider every life choice you've made since the 90s-yet it manages to be incredibly smooth with absolutely zero bitterness. It's the kind of caffeine kick that makes you feel productive enough to actually read the Financial Post left on the counter.
The Pancakes: I'm convinced these are actually made of edible clouds. They are impossibly fluffy & have a subtle, refined sweetness that makes maple syrup feel like an optional (but mandatory) luxury. I had to hold mine down with a fork just to keep them from drifting toward the ceiling.
The Atmosphere: Perfectly'Westmount.' You get the classic diner vibe with vinyl booths & counter seating, but with the added bonus of hearing neighbors discuss their upcoming trips to the Hamptons.
The Service: Brisk, efficient, & wonderfully unimpressed by whoever you think you are. They've been serving the city for over a century, so don't expect them to be dazzled by your presence-just enjoy your eggs & keep the line moving.
It's the only place in the city where you can pay a premium for a club sandwich & leave feeling like you've made a solid investment in your own happiness. Highly recommend if you enjoy great food & feeling slightly less wealthy than everyone else in the room.
The friendliest service in town. The Cobb salad is my favourite
Hands down the best Ruben I have ever had in my life. Got it for the first time hungover in 2019 & it changed my life haha I think about it all the time & get it every single time im in Montreal.
Over a 100 yrs in business good overall , small venue enjoyed the vibe 😁
Visited from London & this place did not disappoint, the service really does make the difference & the food was hearty. Will be back 100%
The overall experience wasn't bad, but when I asked them to change my coffee, I expected a fresh cup. Instead, they just brought back the same cup I had already used & refilled it, without changing or cleaning it. Even the spot where my lipstick mark was still on the rim. I found it very surprising that they did this instead of giving me a new cup.
Worst service of life, normally it's great I heard but we were a party of 6, somehow they gave out the wrong food to each of us, wrong orders, not the right food, I did not get my juice I ordered…. & then they said my other drink would be complimentary cause the order was so screwed up but I ended up paying 32 dollars for one bagel, hot chocolate, fries & one 9 dollar fruit cup that consisted of like 2 cut strawberries & canned pineapple. Just nottt fantastic.
BUTTT the servers were really nice to us it was literally just that issue. So I would recommend if you're an adult & like eggs
Really a typical place, a stop in time with the 1920 diner. Love it. Simple; affordable; nice atmosphere.
As I remember from 20 years ago. Nice portions & great service
I enjoyed a vegan salad with sautéed veggies in it. It is also nice that you can have breakfast for dinner there. I like their healthier, less salty foods including some sandwiches. I would not bother with the dessert.
