We were visiting family in Montreal & decided to stop by & try the food here.
The fries were great, the cheese curds were fresh, the gravy was okay but I think it could have more flavour.
The Michigan was alright, I would just stick to the poutine next time.Voir plus

I was visiting Montreal & did a little research on where I could get some great poutine. Chez did not disappoint. I'm always a fan of menus that are small, but perfectly executed & Chez is a perfect example of why. If you're going to basically do two items, you better do them perfectly, & they did. The fries, gravy & curds are exactly what I was hoping for, seemingly simple, but well balanced & with the perfect amount of cheese that you almost think is too much, until you realize you ate it all & wish there were more. Highly recommend.
& it doesn't hurt that everyone working there is nice, has pride in what they're doing, & genuinely wants every guest to have an amazing experience. I sure didVoir plus

This local landmark sadly didn't live up to the hype, if you plan on making an out-of-your-way trip as we did. You can either take your food to go (not ideal for hot dogs & fries) or eat standing up at a counter with no seats. The place was absolutely freezing cold & unwelcoming & we were eating our meals as quickly as possible. We ordered hot dogs (too much cabbage that wasn't cut), fries with sauce (good flavour but far too much sauce), & fries (very tasty & generous portion). On the pricey side for casse-croute with basic offerings. ***Edit*** Thank you for your response & please note: - we visited prior to the holiday week - sauce is okay but there was too much (it was close to being a soup) maybe offer it on the side(?) - the cabbage is good just ought to be cut & not long spaghetti like strings (& yes I took most of it off)Voir plus

Came here on Saturday December 7th, 2024 around lunch time - Love the exterior decorations for Christmas, there is a nice mural, lots of stickers in the windows & music playing outside. The restaurant is very small & more of a take out counter, with no seating, there is also a drive through. Note they take cash only, there are ATMs on site. We ordered 2 types of hot dogs & a poutine - the hot dogs were good, michigan sauce could have been more flavorful, it was lacking some sweetness. Poutine was a disappointment - the fries were not salted & sauce also lacked some flavor. It was thin & runny, closer to a BBQ type of sauce like St-Hubert style rather than the thick brown gravy. I found everything could have used more flavor. There is only 1 size poutine & it was on the small size. Considering this is some type of historical institution that's been around since 1929, I expected to be charmed but the food was very average & on the expensive side.Voir plus

Hot dog & poutine. Hot dog was a small size, but loaded with toppings. If you're expecting a big sausage type dog, you will be disappointed. For a dog under $3, it's perfect. Poutine was piping hot, loaded with curds. Gravy was good. Fries are typical of Montreal small shops, which I generally am not a fan of... But it seems to be the norm here, so can't penalize them for that. Decor is cool - pictures all over the walls, mostly of hockey, but also of a few h-core customers. Service was quick & friendly. Plenty of tables to sit at outside however not many indoors & with chairs . Pay by cash only!!! But very reasonable prices! My go to is the poutine, the potato fries are thick & sweet & theres enough sauce & cheese is perfect & squeaky, & the portion is very well pakced for 8.75 taxes included. Friendly staff. Parking is reserved for them but usually a popular place so depending when you go, there may or may not be parking. Love this place!Voir plus

It's a tradition hot dog joint. It's an establishment. Everyone's been there at least once. You want a good hotdog or a good poutine. You go there. The fries are really good. Traditional thick golden oily. Add salt & a little vinegar. Yummy 😋. There's no tables. Only outside in warm months.Voir plus

It's not a "Fine five star Michelin dinning sit-down restaurant", No, instead it's a Quebec historical landmark serving since 1929 simple whole beef hotdogs real fresh red potatoes french fries.
