Chez Ernest - Comptoir de curiosités feels like the kind of place people hope to stumble upon & then quietly start recommending only to those they actually like. The vibe is warm, lively, & full of character without ever feeling forced. Between the quirky, curiosity-cabinet decor, the glowing yellow walls, the chandeliers, & all the little oddities scattered around the room, the whole place has a playful soul that makes sitting there a pleasure in itself.
What really elevates it, though, is the human side. The staff were fantastic-welcoming, relaxed, efficient, & clearly part of what gives Ernest its charm. You feel looked after without being rushed, which suits the place perfectly.
& then there is one detail that deserves open praise: the menu actually shows prices with taxes included. That should not feel revolutionary, but it does. It is such a refreshing, honest touch to know exactly what you are paying before the bill lands. More places should do this.
The food & drink held up beautifully. We had their version of a Niçoise salad & the Viking salad, & both were fresh, satisfying, & tied together by a very good Dijon-balsamic vinaigrette that gave them real personality. The beer selection was also fun, varied, & genuinely enjoyable.
Ernest is not just a bar-restaurant. It feels like a place with identity, humour, & taste-rare enough to deserve celebrating.

Great place! Went on a random Wednesday night, & it was amazing. The atmosphere was very fun; they had a music trivia night. They usually have different activities every weekday. The staff was super nice & easy-going. The food was delicious!! Highly recommend their « tartinades». Their kitchen stays open until late, which is amazing for a late-night bite with a drink. Overall, it was an amazing experience, & I would absolutely recommend it!!

Stumbled upon this place walking through the neighbourhood & stopped in for a drink. The atmosphere of both the patio & the interior was awesome. The service was amazing & an all around great spot to stop for a drink.
