I come to Devi at least once every couple weeks & it has never failed to satisfy. The garlic naan is amazing, fresh out of the oven & always very tasty. Every time I go I get the Chicken Chettinad (I ask them to make it spicy) & it's absolutely delicious. There are plenty of vegetarian options including a really good paneer mahkani. Its a little pricier but the food & portions are of good value.

The waitstaff is always very friendy & attentive. I've never had to wait long for anything.

Also the restaurant itself has a warm ambience & is very intimate. The lanterns are beautiful & add a great touch to the atmosphere.

Overall, Devi is an amazing restaurant, from the food to the servers, & is most likely my favorite restaurant in Montreal.

As a beginner to Indian food, I'm no expert on what is good Indian food & what isn't, but the others in my party seemed extremely satisfied to the same extent as I was when we dined at this little restaurant in the early Fall. We sat by the window so we could people watch & the server was friendly & offered us suggestions, especially for my vegan roommate who was in attendance.

I ordered the Saag Paneer, which is a new-found favourite of mine, as I'm not as tolerant of the spice levels in Indian food as most people are. It was absolutely fantastic & deliciously rich & creamy & I had no problems finishing it. The others in my party ordered the Paneer Makhani, Chana Masala, & Daal Makhani, & all were quite delicious, however the Saag Paneer stood out as the table-favourite.

The atmosphere is cute & likely even better in the summer when you can enjoy patio seating.

Having lived in India for 4 years, I'm always iffy about eating Indian in Montreal. Devi was recommended by a friend, & the food was excellent. We shared the Manchurian Cauliflower as an appetizer, which was DELICIOUS (I will eat that again & again) & I had the Paneer Bhurji (excellent, though I asked for it spicy & they put so much chilli that it overwhelmed the rest of the taste), & for dessert we shared the Pistachio Cheesecake. Good, but a little too thick for my taste.
My overall bill (1/2 appetizer, main meal, 2 servings of naan, dessert) came to $40 with a generous tip included (our waitress was wonderful, we were never without water). Also, I was so stuffed I took home 3/4 of my Paneer Bhurji (I had ordered the 2nd naan for that) & 3/4 of the cheesecake. Dinner for tonight!

Having arrived in Montreal a mere 3 weeks ago, my husband & I were in need of some spicy food. We looked online, found restomontreal (what a fabulous site for a newcomer!) & made our way to Devi's which is a hop, skip & jump away from our home.

I had a good feel about the restaurant from the moment I walked in, the deco, the beautiful lamps, the friendly wait staff & only hoped that the food would not disappoint. It did not!

Often, you find that spicy is a relative term depending on where you are geographically. We like our food HOT & specifically requested our food to be made even more spicy & the chef at Devi's complied. We had the Boti Kabab as a starter then moved on to the Kadai Chicken & Paneer Bhurjee. We had our mains with portions of saffron rice & plain naan & they went beautifully together.

The food was excellent. The lamb was tender & just the right side of spicy for us, the chicken & paneer were flavourful & all dishes were in generous portions. We compared Devi's to some of our favourite restaurants back home & it held its own.

We truly enjoyed our meal & would recommend it to anyone who'd like a taste of real North Indian food. With good food, friendly service & fair prices, Devi's is a winner on all count. We went back for seconds on my birthday - the very next day!

Very dissapointing!?
I recently visited Devi restaurant with some friends on a Friday night. I was excited to eat at Devi, since I have been to their restaurant in New York & had an exquisite meal. Unfortunately I cannot say the same for the Montreal restaurant on Crescent. First, the Navratan korma was bland & watery (had to send it back), when it came back it seemed to have been warmed up, not re made! The paneer Tikka was also very bland & dry. The butter chicken was average, but definitely not worth the price tag. The ambiance is nice, but if you really don’t enjoy the food, there isn’t much else you can enjoy. There are a few other Indian restaurants I would pick over this one in downtown Montreal, or even the plateau area. 5/10

You must try this culinary delight that has great ambiance, surprising & tasty food & great location. The exotic atmosphere will transport you into the Asian realm. Dishes like ""Hariyali, fried fish, Achari Paneer Tikka, Manchurian & Tikka Masalla" will take you into a new realm of fine Indian dining but there is also the regular fare. The location on Crescent cannot go wrong for the party goer.

With a wealth of reputation in India & New York, I am sure Montreal will be enriched with the rich Indian tradition of great food & entertainment. Both my trips convinced me that it is an oasis worth our try to satiate our palates for food & a drink.

With thematic parties in the offing soon, I look forward to the atmosphere, entertainment & culinary surprises that this amazing new restaurant has to offe
