Review Summary

Chez Alexandre et fils is widely regarded as a staple of Montreal dining, celebrated for its authentic Parisian bistro atmosphere, classic French cuisine, and the warm, welcoming presence of its owner. Many visitors praise signature dishes like the French onion soup, beef tartare, and duck confit, often highlighting the impressive quality and traditional preparation of the meals. The restaurant is frequently described as a gem that offers a comfortable, timeless environment, with the added benefit of a unique cigar lounge and a lively patio during the warmer months. While perspectives on pricing and service pacing vary, the overall sentiment reflects an appreciation for the establishment's storied history, professional staff, and consistent ability to provide a memorable, quintessentially French experience in the heart of the city.

Cutie little Parisian inspired spot! Welcoming & felt up scale without being pretentious.
Im from the east coast so this is bit blasphemous: I had the Moules-frites & they were some of the best I've ever had!

What a wonderful restaurant! It was my first visit to Montreal. I was alone & walked by the restaurant during lunch time. I was greeted by the owner & was seated at a table. I felt welcomed by the staff & was so comfortable. The food was delicious & I could have been in Paris - but happily I was at Chez Alexandre & fils. I recommend a visit anytime to this special place!!

A cute restaurant with a Parisien feel. Had the brunch combo which was an amazing deal for 39$. Comes with a coffee, a starter, a main & dessert. The bone marrow was so delicious. Our server Emilie was also very sweet ❤?

Super resto. Montreal icon for decades. Food is terrific & delicious. Love the bavette, escargots, lamp chops, everything. The atmosphere is iconic & puts me in a Parisian bistro ambiance every time I visit.

We were looking for an authentic French bistro in Montreal, & Chez Alexandre was recommended to us. We decided to give it a try, & it truly was an incredible experience! My wife & I enjoyed a wonderful steak au poivre, paired with an exceptional wine & delicious fries. For starters, we had a spectacular soup of the day. To finish, we ordered the Profiterole with chocolate sauce, which was absolutely perfect. The service was impeccable as well. We were served by Bastien, who made the experience even more special. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to feel a little piece of France-a charming Parisian bistro in the heart of Montreal.

My first time here after walking by to meet my wife. We were supposed to go to Paris for Christmas but my wife's passport got caught up in the strike. Well, Paris came to us here! What a lovely place! Our server, Bastien, was phenomenal. His wine knowledge is fantastic. The owner came by to say hello. My wife had a salad Nicoise , which she loved. I had a smoked salmon starter & a lovely duck breast for a main course. Both were excellent. Bastien started me off with a sparkling rose followed by a sauvignon blanc semillon & a red with the duck. I highly recommend this spot!
